Jushin Thunder Liger must have a massive list too, having been around in the WOS days, Japan, WCW, and short stints with TNA and WWE.

Fond memories there of Superstars of Wrestling (forerunner to PS) telling me in the post Mania IX issue, the Lightning Kid was coming in, and his matches with Sabu in Global were getting plaudits. I remember virtually everything from that mag as it was the first non-WWF Magazine print media about the graps I ever bought - featuring a profile on Lex Luger where I learned all about his feud with Flair and what a Dusty finish was, and a letter on the letters page posed who wins in WWF vs WCW between Bret vs Sting, Vader vs Yokozuna, Curt Hennig vs Ron Simmons, and what ended up the decider in Undertaker vs Cactus Jack. Couldn’t understand, at Fins insistence on “Curt Hennig vs Lex Luger” in the Mania IX write up, why the WWF had suddenly started calling Mr P by (I assumed) his real name. They hadn’t, but Fins gotta Fin.

Oh, and the Boxing Turtles had started recording matches for TV.

My first thought for era-spanning was Johnny Saint. Probably not the list that several others have but it’s always amusing to me, the diversity in styles between those he wrestled over here in the 70s, and the men he wrestled in Chikara.

He also had a far better match with Chris Hero than any of Hero’s lauded-but-meandering plodders with Punksutawney Phil.

One I find mind-blowing is the fact Masahiro Chono somehow managed to wrestle both Lou Thesz and Bryan Danielson during his career.

Do I remember correctly that it was Thesz' last match? Makes sense, Chono being his "student" and "learning the STF from him" etc.

The mind-blowing one for me is that I haven't seen Danielson wrestle Chono. I'll probably look it up later and find out it was an 03/04 Chono + 2 vs main eventer, Dragon & Curry Man midcard non-event, right?

That’s…not far off what it is. They faced off in two six man tag matches, but never in singles competition.

EDIT: And yes, it was Thesz’s final match.

Chono faced Chyna in a singles match in 2002, which I find kind of interesting. I suppose these Japanese wrestlers go on so long that the list of people they will face will go on generations. 

There is also a match between Savage and Liger from 1996 which I'll hunt down later. Got to be fun right?

I’ve just learned that Brock Lesnsr wrestled Akebono in Japan, which is pretty mental to me. It’s also not a bad match. (link to Daily Motion)

I think Onita is the one who originally injured Bobby Heenan's neck in a match too.  Crazy variety of opponents.

Speaking of Heenan and opponents you wouldn't really expect him to have grappled. He was in a tag team match against Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenryu, which I find absurd because I always forget he was apparently a great wrestler back when and not always a manager in every office he worked.

The year after he wrestled Hogan too. Fairly sure both ended up on "supercard" broadcasts on TWC.

100% it is. Exactly the kind of "give the other guy as much as possible and let him get all his shit in" match Savage had with Bret and Shawn. Imagine that but with Liger 96.

A good shout for this is the likes of Action Mike Jackson who started wrestling in the early 70s and has basically continued to wrestle consistently ever since up to the present day when he’s in his 70s. Worked all over the NWA territories, jobber in WCW and WWF, worked the legends circuits and wrestles the Indy darlings of today.
 

Same applies to George South and Chic Donovan who are pensioners still wrestling.

Talking of which, a match of his turned up fairly recently courtesy of Richard Land, where a young Onita faced Steve Wright (Alex's old man) in Germany 1980, which through modern eyes sounds like the ultimate clash of styles.
