I hope they sort the Triller thing out, otherwise I'll be torrenting my first show in about 5 years. I love AEW, but not enough to break my 'don't give Bezos any of my money' rule.

Good news. It's up on triller, now.

Doesn't show when you first open the app, like AEW PPV's usually do. But it's listed in the schedule.

Anarchy in the Arena usually has a song playing for the first half. Not clear what it could be this time.

But personally I think Tony Khan should fork out the cash for Natural Born Killaz for the babyface squad. Willow Nightingale does a New Jack balcony dive onto both Young Bucks. 7 billion stars.

What don’t you like about it? I think it’s a tremendous card! I’d have maybe chopped the tag title match and possibly also Ricochet/Briscoe to shorten the show length a little, but I’m really excited for this one.

Spoiler

They've added another match to the PPV on Collision so it might be another long'un.

This show HAS to be where the Mad King comes back. He's due to be cleared around now, and Gabe Kidd was the fella he was in a match with when he fudged his leg up. Now Gabe Kidd is hanging about with Moxley, surely this is where Kingston comes back. I'm gonna have my windows open so I can hear @Supremo screaming when 'Cold World' hits.

Eddie beating the evil out of Mox, would be great.

Do a rerun of their I Quit Match, with the roles reversed. And then get them back to mugging The Young Bucks, ending with Eddie and Mox finally getting a tag title reign.

The Countdown show comes highly recommend. Especially the stuff involving Hangman. Phenomenal stuff. This is as good as it gets.

Amazing to see all the clips of the last four years interspersed. Makes you appreciate all the subtle changes Hangman made to his look as he’s lost himself and turned into a monster. It’s like a completely different person. Smiles, luscious locks, handsome beard and bright clothing replaced by the scowls, angry moustache, Napoleon Dynamite mullet and dark outfits. Seth Rollins could learn a thing or two.

He’s the absolute best. Everyone in this industry needs to study him. Actual long term storytelling, with these overarching narratives, interesting story beats and engaging character arcs. Just fucking look at this beautiful, broken, lost man.

Yeah, bollocks to it. I’m fully in. I don’t care what makes business sense. I don’t care if Forbidden Door is in London. I don’t care if Will Ospreay is the best wrestler in the world. This man needs it. I need it. I’ll be rooting for Hangman with all my heart. The hero we need right now.

For all the talk of "cinema" in recent years, Hangman is absolutely the closest you've got to a top tier character arc. The writing. The performance. Genuinely up there as the best and still delivering.

That countdown video made me realise how well Osprey/Hangman has been built (especially considering how limp previous Owens have been) cos I was watching thinking "sure, I see his point but I still don't want Hangman to win"

But not in some smart way, in kayfabe. They've blurred the face/face lines really well, much of the ambuguity here comes from the differences in our perspectives.  Theyve made a little wrestling rorschach test...

I do believe the character of Hangman wants redemption but to win the world championship as his redemption? Nah bruv, that's not how it works.  He's telling me hes good but theres no showing. He's really not that far from ending Chris Daniels career and still being petty with Swerve.  He's telling me he's changed, but he's not saying sorry. Why should I care that the hateful man gets the top prize so he can feel better?

But others do, they believe in Hangman and are emotionally invested in his victory. My criticisms aren't with the writing they're from how I relate to the story, how I want it to be told.

That's pretty great story telling, different perspectives having different investments. And yes there is some elements of behind the curtain (I do also want Osprey to win because I enjoy his matches more) but it's mostly investment in the narrative they've created

Yeah the story isn't about Hangman winning the belt but he doesn't even recognise that himself yet, which makes Swerve and Hangman having no choice but to combine their awesome powers even better. Remember he wasn't helping him at Dynasty.

Really excited for this year’s show, the build—it's been top-notch, and chuffed McGuiness and Hayter are in prime spots and Ospreay headlines.
