Agreed. They have loads of really great undercard acts in both AEW and ROH doing not much in particular. Just start putting them in wild and wacky trios and let them go nuts once or twice a week in 10 minute sprints.

something I hadn't thought about until just now, but when Adam Copeland first came to AEW, he tried to warn Christian that The Patriarchy would use him and kick him to the curb once they felt like they'd got what they needed from him. That's coming for Christian, but it happened with FTR and Copeland first. I wonder if we get Christian mocking him about it right before The Patriarchy do the same thing to him. It's going to be a struggle getting any sympathy for Christian, though.

On Trios matches, it's a drum I've been banging forever. What AEW do better than anyone is big feel-good multi-man matches, six-man or eight-man tags where stuff just never stops happening. It's mad that they haven't tied that to the Trios belt and made those matches the heart of the division, especially when they're the only major US promotion to have had a Trios belt in forever, it's something unique to them, and it's something they're good at!

I complain about it endlessly, but there are Trios who had entire runs without ever even looking in the direction of the belts. The Conglomeration never wrestled for the Trios belts. The Undisputed Kingdom have only ever had one Trios title match. Joe, Hook and Shibata feuded with The Learning Tree, without either Trio considering a shot at the belts. It would be so easy to make something of that division.

On top of the teams mentioned and the Death Riders, you've got the current angle with MJF and The Hurt Syndicate; do they become an unlikely Trio and aim for more gold? One of my AEW pet hates is current champions fighting for other titles, but if there's storyline justification, they can make it work. Then there's Shane Taylor Promotions, the Don Callis Family, The Patriarchy (either Christian/Kip/Nick or Kip/Nick/Killswitch as and when he's healthy), LFI, 2.0 & Daniel Garcia, Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh, Top Flight & AR Fox....that's all before you throw together any new trios, any "tag team +1" groupings, or bring in outsiders from ROH, NJPW or CMLL. It could be a genuinely stacked division.


And having just looked through the roster to come up with that list, where the hell are the Gunns? They returned in February and haven't been seen since.

Yeah it's very peculiar. Either one of them is injured again or their contract is coming up and they're keeping them off TV until they re-sign or decide to leave. I love the Gunns and think they should always have a prominent spot on TV but out of everyone on the roster currently can very much see them taking a WWE contract.

A fairly average PPV. Had some fun watching, but won't go back to rewatch anything. 

Three Owen matches was overkill imo, and was clearly just an excuse to get Osprey, Fletcher and Mone, on the show. All pretty obvious results. 

Storm Vs. Bayne was decent but the 'bigger wrestler loses by role up' finish is really overplayed. 

I thought the FTR turn was really well done. Cash in particular came across a right dick head. 

Ricochet actually taking the Karate Kid bump. Legend. 

Main event was a lot better than Mox Vs. Copeland from Revolution, imo.

Not too bothered about the result. My moneys now on Hangman winning the Owen, and then beating Mox in Texas. 

Happy they actually resisted the urge to bring The Young Bucks back as faces.

My biggest problem is that Hangman choosing to help Swerve should have been a seismic moment that is replayed and talked about for years to come. It annoys the piss out of me that he teased it, then it got muddled in the usual bullshit, completely forgotten about and overshadowed by another, “oh, fuck off,” ending. Poundland nWo.

The FTR turn absolutely ruled. Best thing they’ve done in years. Cash in particular. Who knew he had this in him? Charismatic dickhead, grabbing the neck brace and lying on stretcher. Great piece of business. I don’t know how they get to Edge and Christian reuniting, but I can’t wait for it. Frankly surprised people didn’t start chanting for Christian on the night.

Cash has always been one of my Boys. Can't cut a promo to save his life but an absolute low key beast and maniac in the ring. Totally in the moment, real and intense. Especially when he thought he was off to the slammer, the man worked like every match could have been his last. Judging by Dax's knees and general walking he probably doesn't have too much time left on the clock so I'm hoping one day we get a Cash singles run. There's loads of bouts I'd love to see him in. Cash vs Rush is a minor dream match of mine.

That's something that's been there almost since the beginning of this run too, it's infuriating. After the Moxley/Orange Cassidy title match, the Death Riders tried to murder Cassidy, but you've forgotten about it seconds later because there's a succession of run-ins and then a literal car crash to get to. It's supposed to make the Death Riders feel chaotic and unpredictable, but there's nothing more predictable - ref bump, Yuta run-in, babyface save, "oh now the Death Riders are out of the picture so the babyface can win", no, Marina Shafir run-in, disappointing finish, schmozz brawl, tease another attack, babyface of the week run-in, Death Riders run away, everyone leaves sad.

Yeah, it's absolutely the worst thing about the Death Riders, that you know how every match is going to end. It's exactly what was so interminable about the Bloodline for so long.

This reminds me how fucking brilliant it was when Sting descended at Uncensored 97 to finally make it clear what side he was on and beat the shit out of Savage, The Outsiders and Hogan. Thanks for that, it's made my day.

I bought the PPV as part of the Revolution bundle on Triller, I thought there was enough I enjoyed to make it worthwhile.

Nick Wayne and CRU vs. AR Fox and Top Flight - There were some good moments in this, I enjoyed it.

Max Caster vs. TBA - Great reaction to Bowens, I would have preferred it if they added this to the main show. I wonder where they go from here, whether it will turn into an actual feud or based on that decisive win, Bowens may move onto something new.

Will Ospreay vs. Kevin Knight - This was a good match, Knight seemed to win over the crowd by the end although but I feel like Knight could struggle to stand out with the current roster.

The Hurt Syndicate vs. Big Bill and Bryan Keith - OK match, would have been better for regular TV.

Mercedes Mone vs. Julia Hart - I thought this was OK, there were a good few sequences in this but Julia seemed totally wiped out by the end. 

Death Riders vs. Rated FTR - I really enjoyed this and the angle after the match was almost perfect. I would have preferred to have JR do commentary for this rather than the opener, he would have done a better job of putting over how despicable/outrageous FTR was. I'm already looking forward to the prospect of Cope/Christian vs FTR at All In.

Toni Storm vs. Megan Bayne - I thought this was good, but Megan still looked good in defeat. I'm glad Toni has managed to still keep the momentum going after the May feud ended, she's a highlight every time you see her.

Kyle Fletcher vs. Mark Briscoe - Great match, really enjoyed this, had a few brutal bumps too.

Chris Jericho vs. Bandido - This could have been on the Zero Hour and shorter. I'm glad Bandido won, I'm hoping we get a break from Jericho or at least he takes a more managerial role with Big Bill/Keith.

Daniel Garcia vs. Adam Cole - Another match that would have been fine for TV, it was alright but I can't say I was fussed either way. They really need a decent feud over the TNT title, it feels almost neglected for a while now.

Kenny Omega vs. Ricochet vs. Mike Bailey - This was excellent, loved it all.

Jon Moxley vs. Swerve Strickland - I thought this was good, I was surprised to see The Opps get involved, I'm assuming that is going to lead them to go after the Trios title. I agree with the others that it got very messy towards the end with the Bucks showing up too. They looked in great shape but I would have preferred them to not get involved here. I would have liked Swerve to win but I’m intrigued to see where this is going with the title picture/tournament.

Overall, I get the criticism but we’ve had a lot of good TV over the past few months and I still have faith ?

Yeah they haven't done a good job with Garcia's TNT title reign. I think the issue is that Garcia is a great underdog pure babyface but they haven't really been putting him up against many despicable heel threats for him to overcome. He's been defending the title against more babyfaces and tweeners than he should have been and it didn't do him any favours.
