AEW Dynasty 2025 Discussion

Amazing as always, don't think there's any woman who's re invented herself better than Timeless Toni. 

If only the Tony in charge could reign in letting some of " the boys" book their own shit AEW would be flying. 

They have the talent, they have some cracking prospects coming through, and some decent veterans to give advice. Women's division stacked across the board so loads of positives. 

Sure the PPV ended shite again but long term with Hangman, Swerve, Omega, Storm, Willow, Statlander there are so many others I could write but the future is very promising. 

But in keeping with the general forum consensus...

The last part was just some negativity towards the main event, in keeping with how I gauged everyone's response to it.

No. I can't think of anyone who in wrestling who is universally hated on here perhaps barring Seth Rollins.

I personally don't care for TYB but I dont hate them. I haven't missed them and I wouldn't care if I never saw them again. For me they have no interesting story left to tell and they've not told an interesting story in the ring for quite a while. I would say I'm in the minority on here and in general.

I caved and watched the 3 way and main event.

I enjoyed the 3 way quite a bit. How these guys memorise and execute a 30 minute complex fight scene and do it all live with little error blows my mind sometimes. I think if I had watched the show in one sitting I would have struggled with it though. A 30 minute semi main event at the end of a very long show is too much but in an isolated viewing it was a great match. 

The main event was what it was. Credit to AEW for having a PPV title match which going in the winner felt unpredictable - a much harder feat these days than people give credit for. The action itself was ok but a noticeable level below something like Fletcher/Briscoe from earlier in the night. The fans were desperate for Swerve to win so understandable that the ending felt so sour. My main issue with the Bucks interference is that the BTE/EVP Trigger is and always has been a completely unconvincing and shit move. I don't buy that it would take out AEW's most dangerous man. But fundamentally if you're going to make the fans sit through 5 hours of wrestling you should probably reward them at the end with a happy ending not a fuck you.

I also watched the Max caster challenge on Zero Hour was was fucking tremendous and deserved to be on the main ppv. Bowens needs to pick a nickname - are you the Pride of Pro Wrestling or the 5 Tool Player? I'd go with Pride, the 5TP thing is lame. Also I hope this isn't all we're going to get of Caster vs Bowens. There's definitely way more they could do with this.

Overall, a somewhat decent 2hr 45min show that was dragged out to about 9 hours. These show lengths are brutal and they need to stop. Maybe just save the 4 hour shows for the big shows (Revolution, Double Or Nothing, All In, All Out) then have the other PPVs (which are basically the B shows) at a more manageable length.

In hindsight if the main show was edited down to something like this I think everyone would have been a bit happier even with the shit ending.

The thing is though Gooshy that 5 Tool Player already has a meaning from baseball. A 5 tool player is what every baseball team is looking for and they are not that common, there might be 3 in baseball currently. It's a way of defining excellence that the American audience understands. Let's also be frank about how America is right now, if he calls himself Pride Of Pro Wrestling there might be some backlash from the MAGA crew who don't exactly like the word Pride and its associations.

Cheers for the explanation, I had no idea what it meant but had assumed it was some kind of Gen Z/Gen Alphaism that I’d not come across before.

I disliked how long it took to hit, Swerve just kneeled there, not even trying to escape the move and it made him look a little daft.

Ah gotcha. I had no idea at all. Though personally I think the fact that there might be some backlash is MORE reason to go with the Pride nickname. It's important that AEW stand up to these kind of things and present itself as an inclusive and positive environment.

The thing is though at the minute it's not backlash, it's the status quo. All the big American companies are getting rid of anything that hints at any sort of diversity for fear of running foul of the current junta. The Khan family still has to do business in the US and I wouldn't want to see Bowens caught up in that.

I’d recommend the Trios Match on the Buy In. Great fun.

AR Fox’s hot tag in that match is the best I’ve seen in forever. It’s like he’s got a star in Mario, or his Special Meter has glitched out. He goes on and on and on, hitting crazy high spot after crazy high spot, and it’s amazing.

I say it all the time, but the Trios Division should be the signature of AEW. Every show should feature a Trios match. They should bring back the rankings just for this division and have endless, wild exhibitions.

Actually - one major positive of the show that is worth mentioning is the amount of diversity on the card - almost every match featured a wrestler of colour. In an era in which much of the US has embraced bigotry, it’s a really good thing to see.

Oh, I forgot to mention this, this was great and the reason that tipped me over into buying the replay. I thought I'd give the preshow a go and enjoyed this so much I thought "fuck it, wrestling's fun. I'll get this show".

In the top match loads of white guys screwed the black guy over. MAGA booking 101
