What the actual fuck was that finish all about? Made no sense at all Reveal hidden contents Unless of course the Elite are getting back together to stop Swerve and Death Riders and promote Hangman to the title Only doesn’t makes sense if you haven’t paid attention to AEW programming since last April. The “new” Elite attacked Tony Khan because they wanted to take ownership of the company. It led to a Blood and Guts match for the soul of the company. The Young Bucks tried to recruit Swerve as their last team member, who refused. They would go on to lose the match and the company. When Mox turns the BCC against Danielson, the Elite start to be friendly with the Death riders. And then things started being familiar. Mox tells Tony Schiavone this isn’t your company anymore. Both the Death riders and the Elite said they hate what the company has become. The last time we see the Bucks on TV they just lost their titles, we’re seen shredding documents backstage before running away from the Death riders. Why would they be doing this? Destroying evidence of their contracts with the Death riders? AEW doesn’t tell stories. Doesn’t tell long term stories. Except when they do and everyone gets pissed off because it wasn’t the story they wanted. Edited April 7, 2025 by Hannibal Scorch U Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted April 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 7, 2025 I wish I had your faith in Tony's attention to detail Scorchers. The problem is though Scorchers that no one wanted The Bucks back. They have the Jericho effect on audiences at the minute, and Moxley isn't exactly on fire with the audience either. Neither of them have heel heat, they both have JUST FUCK OFF heat and putting them together in any way seems like a long shot. It may be long term story telling, but it's the equivalent of Frodo and Sam's trip to Mordor through the dead marshes and that in the book is the bloody boring bit. Quote
Chili Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 It's less when are they going to get to the fireworks factory and more, actually I'm not bothered about it, can we stop at Flickeys? Quote

See you say that, but the Death Riders have the highest viewed segments and the highest viewed YouTube clips every week. So people are watching, and going back for more even inexplicably. Same shit happened with the Bloodline pre Sami Uso, people were bored then too. All I’m saying is this isn’t a pivot, the story is picking up where they left it, and now it’s met up. DoN will have The Bucks/Hangers and Swerve as the main event. Mox will defend at All In against Ospreay and lose. That’s my prediction and it makes sense even if we wanted it to finish last night, the finish line is in site. Quote

Let's not get into ratings chat Scorchers old chap it's a beautiful day. Let's just say the YouTube numbers may back you up, but we can't tell what the most watched segments are because MAX just does minutes watched, not which minutes are watched and Max is responsible for 500k out of about 1.1mill. I don’t know if that’s true - Sami turbo-charged the storyline, but I don’t think the same narrative existed around that as does the Death Riders. 36 minutes ago, Hannibal Scorch said: DoN will have The Bucks/Hangers and Swerve as the main event. That’s my prediction and it makes sense even if we wanted it to finish last night, the finish line is in site I didn’t think the story would end last night, and I was fine with that. It’s more about the fact it wasn’t a particularly good way of progressing the story, and the idea of The Bucks being the team to unite Hangman and Swerve is very out-of-nowhere. I expected them to team up to take out the remaining Death Riders, while someone else ended Moxley’s title run, which I could absolutely buy into. The Death Riders are running riot and need to be brought to an end; so teaming for the greater good works for me. But teaming up to face The Bucks, if that’s what they do? I can’t buy into that. Why would Hangman object to the Bucks doing what they did, when it wasn’t particularly brutal and he was contemplating doing the same thing? Alternatively, if they don’t do that, what was the point in having the Bucks interfere in the first place? I don’t think people are down on it because Swerve lost, or because it’s not the story they wanted, it’s because it wasn’t done particularly well and doesn’t feel logical. Even if what they do next is fantastic, that won’t change the fact that this was an unnecessarily weak ending to the show. Edited April 7, 2025 by RedTwoster Quote

I'm guessing The Bucks will cost Hangman a match in the Owen. Possibly against the wildcard, whoever that is. Jack Perry maybe? I think we'll get something along the lines of Danielson returning at All In to cost Moxley the title and Ospreay will win it. That's how I think this whole Death Riders shit ends, which will be a great moment. I'd still rather Swerve had just won last night though. The PPV wasn't crap, that's way too strong and there was too much good on the show to call it bad but it was certainly one of the weaker AEW PPVs in a long time. It felt like a filler PPV setting stuff up for July. Edited April 7, 2025 by digforvictory Quote
Chili Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 Quick thoughts etc Really enjoyed Ospreay's bout, Fletcher/Briscoe, Toni/Snoo Snoo (bonus points for Luther as Mickey and Tony doing a Burgess Meridith impression on comms), Trios Match was really fun and while the turn was coming it was good and played out well. Three Way was obviously going to be pretty great and it was. While Garcia/Cole was absolutely fine it would have made a better Dynamite main event or something. Poor Bandido, all they needed to do was replay the bat shot on the big screen, at least then you could have got away with it. Jericho doing a hooky loss really doesn't put Bandido over at all. Mone/Julia was decent but they had a few rough bits and I felt bad for them a bit. Tag Title Match was fine. Don't care how logical this story all is with Death Riders and if it draws whatever, I just personally find it rather tiring. Plus my issue is IF Darby comes back to save the day, logically I'd have a load of faces going 'AND WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU? Climbing Everest yeah, while they did all this shit and you come swanning back eh? Fuck off pal.' Quote
Snitsky's back acne Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 Genuine question as someone who follows AEW casually - is it time somebody had a serious talk to Tony Khan? I get all the arguments, I really do. I understand people defending it too - but after watching that post show press conference it seems that Tony is AEW's biggest problem - much like Vince became in WWE.Tony is a hindrance rather than a help to AEW at this point (and has been for a while, in my opinion). I mean, he genuinely believes the things he says, doesn't he? I agree you should look at the positives and not get dragged down by negatives but as a businessman you surely need to be realistic and at least acknowledge that negatives exist, don't you? He can't, deep down, truly be happy with how things are, can he? He says he listens to the fans but in the next breath says that Moxley is one of the greatest wrestlers ever and a massive asset to his company....while people are giving him 'Go away' heat and ratings continue to dwindle (despite what Tony says). AEW is not going anywhere and I am sure he is a lovely bloke. If the wrestlers are making more than they could have ever dreamed of making in their entire lives (and working less than ever) I am sure they love it too - but they must see that this is not what AEW could be, and set out to be, right? Am I being too negative? Quote
Tennessee Moltisanti Posted April 7, 2025 Posted April 7, 2025 I really hope this is leading to Mox dropping the title at All In to Ospreay or Hangman, because that ending was unbelievably bad. I had to forward through the main event, because it was not good and I saw there were 40 minutes on the clock. This awful Bloodline esque multiple interference spots in a match booking is not something I enjoy at all. When you have a roster of ultra talented wrestlers, you shouldn't have to rely on shortcuts and nonsense to get through main events. I like Mox, but this run has been rough as hell. I do like that Hangman seems to be going full on face, and him and Swerve will bury the hatchet soon, and beat the piss out of the Bucks to solidify that potential friendship. Toni Storm with her best Bret Hart impression, great stuff. Very big Hitman Vs Diesel vibes from that match Vs Megan. Megan, who looked brilliant, gotta put some gold on her soon. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned on here before but I really would like for Mark Briscoe to have a go at the World Title. Even a short run, to get it from a heel to another heel, would be great. Am I being too negative? No, you're being fair and objective. Tony is the money mark who is blinded by "The Boys" to really put his foot down. Mox isn't his greatest asset, or even massive, He's just the first one who left the then awful WWE for pastures new. He hasn't evovled in years, And could do with going back to "The Fed" (Eurgh.), Swerve should've won, No reason not to do the switch, other than Mox decided he didn't want to drop it yet, and Khan relented. I could buy them teaming up to ward off the Death Riders for the greater good, but doing so to ward off The Bucks is a bit of a stretch; and if it’s because they are Death Riders now, it’s an odd late development in this story. I hope they salvage it, but I think it’s going to be tough. Quote
