Primary School was Awful

We had the goals needed Increase every round rule with only headers and volleys allowed in the six yard box or If we were just playing on a random field or area then it was just a judgment call of how close you could be with the occasional jumper laid down as a marker.

We had similar variation of the "Headers and Volleys" game only it was called "specials" and generally played in teams with everyteam starting on a set number of lives and only headers and volleys would count and if it bounced and went in or rhe keeper caught it (had to catch it just saving it wasnt enough) or it went wide then whoever shot went in goal and lost a life whilst his teammate struggled on alone briefly.

World Cup singles or doubles for us. We would sometimes join in with the older lads down the local park, along with a fair sized rabble of younger players. They didn’t mind too much but first round was something 4 go out to speed things up. 

In matches, keepers also playing out on pitch was rush goalie, the arbitrarily decided “person nearest the goal is keeper” was called monkey rush. Which often descended into heated arguments about handball/who was really in goal.

FA Singles or doubles down my way, and headers and volleys was called Cooler. Goalie rules included goalie rush, goalie when and goalie now. We also had those waiting for the next rounds rotating in goal.

Monkey Rush where I grew up too.

Completely unrelated to primary school / footie games, but one of the reasons my teeth are so fucked (other than a childhood spent glugging Virgin Cola) is due to a massive fight kicking off in the pub between two sets of lads, when I was about twenty. One lad picked a pint glass up, dashed it at someone else who had the good sense to duck, and it hit completely unaware me (standing at the bar, minding my own business and waiting for my pint) square in the mouth. Blood and bit of teeth everywhere. To this day I still have half a front tooth missing as everytime the dentist puts a filling or crown in it falls out within a week.

Round here it was always called Wembley singles or doubles. It was only my secondary school in St.Albans that called it Cuppy for some reason and much to my confusion. But they also called Runouts - Blocky. Which confused me aswell.

Obviosuly had Headers and Volleys. Or Heads and Vols for short. Usual rules. Keeper catches it or goes wide your in goal etc. No volleys from 6 yard box obv but you was allowed Magic,which was a bicycle kick or some sort of backheel flick or just anything that wasnt a bog standard volley to be honest! The Punishment section was called Bum Slaps or Red Arse. 

Rush Keepers or Monkey Rush though for the goalies. Monkey Rush is when the closest man back becomes the keeper.
