weevil Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 Somewhat off topic, but, there seems to be very few second generation Japanese wrestlers. Why is that? Quote

Paid Members DEF Posted January 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2025 Tamina has been been with the company since 2010. 15 years! and has done absolutely nothing of note and value. Nia might be more dangerous (probably worse) but at least she has a bit of presence. Tamina hasn't managed a thing in all that time. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 Nia was dogshit for years, but she's become a decent big woman. Quote

Paid Members air_raid Posted January 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 9, 2025 Nicholas, obviously. It's a bit tough to gauge where Nia falls. No, that's not a critique of her lack of skill, I don't mean whether she falls out of the ring or whether she falls onto her opponent causing injury, I mean whether she falls into the category of "Would never have got a chance or pushed as strong without her family ties" or there's enough of "her size got her a spot" too. For better or for worse, she stands out. David Sammartino always stood out for me but I don't know whether it's that he was awful or just that he couldn't live up to expectations. Greg Gagne is a fantastic one because it wasn't just "connections," it was literally his dad giving him the main event push. Charlotte is a pretty good shout because however good she actually is, and however many decent matches she's had (and she has), there's no way she'd have had the lengthy PPV win streak, won the title as often, got shoehorned into the Mania 35 main event and generally been presented as "best EVER!!1!" if she wasn't Ric Flair's kid. Shane O'Mac deserves an honourable mention for being positioned as a credible opponent for The Undertaker inside Hell In A Cell when there were only so many matches left on the clock for Taker. Erik Watts probably gets the bulk of his criticism from fans who weren't watching at the time, due to the Internet fame of the "worst dropkick ever" but it's true that he sucked balls. It was terrible that he got to the final of that TV title tournament, and speaks of the talent of Mr Wonderful that it wasn't an even worse match than it ended up. The joint winners for me are Tamina and Natalya. If we were basing the answer purely on "didn't deserve a push because of how crap they were" it's Tamina all the way. Terminally boring and never a part of anything worth remembering, but it's worth noting she didn't actually achieve all that match. Nattie on the other hand has always been dull as ditchwater and assembled about three decent matches ever in a LOOOOONG career in WWE (and two of those were in NXT), yet got a couple of title reigns and is constantly referred to as a "legend" and "pioneer" and other words that simply would never be associated with such a bang-average career if her mum hadn't been Bret's sister. Oh, go on then... here's that dropkick. Quote
Paid Members Cod Eye Posted January 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 9, 2025 It's got to be Gulas, hasn't it? So bad in the ring and so over pushed it actually killed the territory, telling an uncooperative NWA champion Harley Race "Daddy says sell" during a match, being the featured performer on a show poster before he had even debuted and was only a referee. The stories are legendary. Most others in here may have traded off their more illustrious parents names/careers/contacts, but (barring Greg Gagne, I suppose) none have actually tanked their own fathers businesses. The fact Jarrett's part of the territory(where he wasn't really booked) survived is damning! Quote
