RedTwoster Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 (edited) What dream matches Do you want to see that actually could happen, but likely never will? To be clear, I’m not talking about ‘Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle’ or matches involving former wrestlers who are alive, but too destroyed to ever wrestle again. I’m talking about matches that actually could happen, and you’d love to see them happen - but for whatever reason you don’t think they will. The big one for me is CM Punk vs Steve Austin. I’d absolutely love to see this, the Kevin Owens match was loads of fun, even if it wasn’t peak-Austin, and I’m sure he could do something similar with Punk…I just don’t think he will. John Cena vs MJF is another one I want to see, mainly for the feud. Had MJF Jumped to WWE, I think it probably would have happened - but the clock is ticking, I’m and I think Cena’s career will expire before MJF’s contract does. Members SuperBacon Posted December 6, 2024 Members Posted December 6, 2024 I think we're past this point now but as he's off I'd have loved to have seen Cena vs Reigns with a massive year long build/fantastic story like they've had for the Bloodline. I just think we're out of time now, your time is up, if you will. Quote
Paid Members mim731 Posted December 6, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 6, 2024 AJ Styles vs Kenny Omega is still one that got away (I know they had a match in 2006, but I'm discounting that as it's pre NJPW Omega), but is unlikely to happen now and would probably not live up to what it could have been years ago, Would still like to see it. On that note, Bryan Danielson vs Kenny Omega feels very unresolved. I’m not certain we’ll ever see Danielson wrestle again; but even if we do, I think the ship has sailed on a dream rematch that felt inevitable at one point. Hangman Page vs Roman Reigns is very high up on the list of matches I’d like to see, but I imagine that both wrestlers will be lifers in their respective companies. Even if Hangman does jump ship, I think it would be a long while away - making the match even more unlikely, as Reigns’ schedule shrinks even further; perhaps wrapping up entirely. Quote

Clearly I don't watch much of it, but that is absolutely the best match I've seen in AEW. It was everything I wanted it to be. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted December 6, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 6, 2024 Not necessarily once in a lifetime dream matches, but matches where if I saw it on a card I'd be interested enough to check it out of curiosity. Orange Cassidy vs Hurricane Helms Assuming Helms got into a decent shape for it I'm sure he could still go well enough for a nice sharp 10 minute comedy match. Orange has elevated beyond this type of match these days but it would be refreshing to see him back where he started during AEW's beginnings as that middle of the card underdog. Hurricane is an old favourite and I'm certain he'd still get a great reaction pulling out the old favourites against someone just as daft as him. Feels like the kind of match that could go viral online with the right spots. Lance Archer vs Big Bronson Reed It's a meaty affair and I'd love to watch them kick the shit out of each other for ten minutes. Reed seems agile and game enough to take that mad Blackout finisher, and when he's booked right Archer is as believable a big man as anyone. Eddie Kingston vs The Undertaker Why not? Not everything has to be a 5 star dream match. Shot this together and I'm there. A nonsense match you'd see the CPU book at random during a season mode on WWE 2K. Adam Cole vs Bill Goldberg Typical Goldberg squash. Cole hits a surprise superkick, goes for that god awful jumping flip destroyer and Goldberg no sells it before the flip. Big back bodydrop, spear, jackhammer, call it. Goldberg wipes all the smeared fake tan off himself as he leaves Cole's crumpled body in the ring. Satnam Singh vs The Great Khali Put your hands over your eyes and peek through your fingers, it's a car crash. Quote
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted December 6, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 6, 2024 Orange Cassidy vs Darby Allin. Absolutely mad that they're both AEW originals (well, Darby Allin almost is, but you get my point) and this hasn't happened yet. I'm sure Tony Khan is well aware of what he has here and is holding it back until both are bona-fide main eventers and it's for the title, but maybe I'm giving him too much credit. Quote

The Gaffer Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Cena Vs. Orton. 10 minutes of non-stop finisher spamming, crowd goes mental, they both smile and hug it out afterward before going back to Orton's bus to smoke a joint. I mean there's others...but it's crazy in 2024 that I have that as a genuine thought. Quote

I’d have to think this match is inevitable during Cena’s final run, I can’t imagine they’ll resist the temptation to market their final ever encounter. And to be fair, they probably shouldn’t resist that temptation. Quote

I hope they do a tribute spot to that time they pointed to the Wrestlemania sign to the deafening 'absolutely bloody not lads' silence from the crowd. Quote

Merzbow Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Necrobutcher Vs Samoa Joe 3 I want to see the old MAGA cunt dropped on his head again, the first match is probably my all time favourite indy spectacle and if he can come out of retirement to do death matches again then Tony can book this for Dynamite.
