MrMotivator
Hi folks, First time posting, so go easy on me π I'm trying to find some information regarding Davey Boy Smiths UK tour in 1993. I couldn't have been any older that 7, but I specifically remember my step dad taking me to see wrestling in Hanley, Stoke on Trent and the British Bulldog was in the main event in a tag team. Im 95% certain he was wearing green trunks...there may even have been a battle royale during the event (although I'm not sure if this is my imagination lol). I've searched high and low on the internet for the card or any pictures, but to date found absolutely nothing. I've found the card for other dates on his UK tour that year, but not Hanley.Β Does anyone have any knowledge or knowledge where to point me? Β Thanks SteveΒ
Paid Members Big Benny HG Posted September 8 Paid Members Share Posted September 8 (edited) Welcome to the forum! 1993 he was still with WCW, I believe, and his UK tour with RWS ("Ring Wrestling Stars" - the renamed Dale Martin Promotions) was in 1994. Here's a database showing most (but certainly not all) of the matches he had in the UK in 1994 (click on each one to see the full show listing, where available): https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=862&view=&page=4&gimmick=&year=1994&promotion=®ion=Europa&location=&arena=&showtype=&constellationType=&worker= No Hanley listed, but might give a clue to some of the line-ups that were going around. I went to one of the Scarborough shows on that tour, probably the 15/08 one, but they've listed Jason Cross in the tag match it was actually Tony Stewart.Β Edited September 8 by Big Benny HG
MrMotivator
Thanks for your reply Benny... Yes, sorry, it was 1994. I saw the listings and card for other UK shows, just seems a shame I can't find the Hanley one. I'm a middle age bloke stuck in the 90s and the nostalgia would have hit hard π Thank you for trying to help ππ»
Browser Brady
It was definitely Davey Boy Smith ?  No chance it was an impersonator?  Green trunk Davey sounds interesting though⦠
Paid Members BomberPat Posted September 17 Paid Members Share Posted September 17 I had a look through the newspaper archive, and it looks like Bulldog was booked twice in Hanley in 1994 - Saturday 26th February, and Saturday 27th August, both at Victoria Hall. They're small ads, though, and his is the only name listed, so nothing to go on for the card, unfortunately. Davey Boy returned to the WWF at Summerslam '94 on the 29th, and I can't find any cards on Cagematch or Wrestlingdata that have him working in the UK after 16th August. Even cards billed as the British Bulldog Tour don't have him on them after that date. It's possible that he worked more dates than we have recorded results for, but I would take an educated guess that the 27th August show didn't happen, and so the show you're looking for was 26th February.Β Β I've not found a card anywhere else for either show, but Tony Stewart was Davey Boy's tag partner for most of the shows he worked in '94, usually against Karl Krammer and Johnny Angel, though sometimes with Angel as the Masked Destroyer, or with Kamikazi in his spot. Though Kamikazi may well have been Johnny Angel too, as the last person I was aware of working under that gimmick was Ian Gilmour, who I'd have thought would have been long retired by 1994.Β Most shows on that tour followed the format of three or four singles matches and a tag, often with a 4-man tournament covering three of those singles matches.Β
Maikeru
Is there any chance it was Dynamite Kid rather than Davey?Β ASW Β« Events Database Β« CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database

Snitsky's back acne
Davey definitely did tour over here in 1994. I've got a picture with him from when he wrestled in Margate. Even then, as a 12 year old, I thought there was no way Davey was turning up to the Winter Gardens and we would get a cheap knock-off instead but, holy shit, he did! I believe it was Davey and Tony Stewart v Barbarian Karl Kramer and Johnny Angel.
Paid Members Scratch Posted Friday at 03:11 PM Paid Members Share Posted Friday at 03:11 PM (edited) I saw Bulldog on that tour at the Princess Theatre in Clacton, and I remember he tagged with Tony Stewart. As excited as I was to see Davey a short drive from where we lived, I remember being totally disappointed seeing him in a tiny ring with wooden posts that all bowed slightly inwards. Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted Sunday at 05:28 AM Awards Moderator Share Posted Sunday at 05:28 AM I remember a great write-up of the tour in one of the Wrestle Me newsletters last year. It was beyond their Patreon paywall but might still be available if you look through their archive.
