Also Romero is fucking shite and should never be on TV ever. If you're having a surprise appearance immediately after a title win the general rule is that it should be someone who is a bigger star than the person who just lost the belt. Anything less and it's a wet fart - which is what happened when Ishii came out. I'm assuming Jericho has the title back because they're trying to shop ROH TV around again. Yea no idea why Romero came out, he’s back in Japan for the Jr Tag League now anyways so it was pointless. Quote

Or at least if you’re to take that approach, have someone make sure the storylines all feel as if they exist in the same universe. It doesn’t even have to be significant - you could have a heel announcer say they don’t blame Jericho for going after the ROH title as it keeps him out of Moxley’s crosshairs; you could have interviewers ask literally any wrestler about the main storyline - why wouldn’t they want to know what, for example, former World champions Swerve and Hangman think of what Moxley is doing? Hangman could easily bring it back to his warped narrative by blaming Swerve (when Swerve is willing to break into your house, it’s little wonder ‘honourable people’ like Mosley would feel the need for extreme violence) Make that central narrative feel like it matters, even if you want to keep the bigger name wrestlers away from the situation for the time being (although I would absolutely be in favour of getting them involved) 1 hour ago, Supremo said: Well that settles that before he’s even made TV. Do not let Bobby Lashley have any creative control whatsoever. Absolute moron. Imagine saying this the week that you’re likely making the big debut. Keep your receipt, Tony. Bloody hell. That’s one of the stupidest pitches I’ve ever read. The damage that would have done to everyone involved and the company itself. Utterly bonkers. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted October 30, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 30, 2024 I think they're doing a good job of ensuring that people like Swerve and Hangman have other stories going on right now to keep them away from the BCC - and Hangman I feel wouldn't care about what they're doing anyway - but you're right that they need to do the work to justify that, and to tie these things together. I'm sure they get involved further down the line, but it's a recurring issue with AEW, not just that their stories feel disconnected, but that they don't put in the work to make us care about people who go weeks without being on TV and then pop up as part of a storyline, or as an opponent for a main eventer, and we're supposed to see them as close to that level when they haven't earned that. I have no problem with The Dark Order trying to fight the BCC - they're day one AEW guys, backbone of the company, all of that - but I think it's a better story if the point is that they know it's hopeless, that BCC are going to destroy them, but that somebody has to stand up for AEW, and the big guns aren't doing it. While that's going on, question why Darby Allin isn't around, reference how Swerve is tied up with MVP and company but at least has his eye on what's going on - it takes one promo about how he'll be there once he's taken care of business. I like what they're doing with Orange Cassidy - that's a good start. More of that. What's interesting is that the BCC are targeting people who they think are jokes, who aren't taking things seriously enough. And for the most part it's only those people fighting against them. If you believe the BCC's stated aim (and more people should be pointing out that it's a smokescreen, and this is really all about consolidating power for Moxley), then they're winning - not just because they have the belts and are beating up people they don't like, but because their goal is allegedly to force those wrestlers into becoming more aggressive and more serious, and they're doing exactly that. It would be nice if it was clearer if that was by accident or design. Quote
Guest Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Mox is also spending a lot of time accusing the entire locker room of complacency, and Daniel Garcia, at least, has been making the point that some of the big guns are clearly complacent because they're not stepping up. Maybe they don't see the threat yet, or maybe they've just got other things on their minds. That's often how these things go, right? Small voices, those without the pull trying to speak up, being victimised and those with more to lose not getting involved because they don't have to, until they're forced to. This would be better if they'd not done "Team AEW" 6 months ago, but I can dig it. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted October 30, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 30, 2024 (edited) Really tasty looking Dynamite. Loads I’m excited about. We all know what Tony’s most excited about though. Guaranteed he’s spent at least a week pissing about with his living room big light switch, practicing doing the LIGHTS ON LIGHTS OFF for Lashley. Bet he couldn’t sleep with excitement. ….is Kenny Omega costing The Bucks the belts? Edited October 30, 2024 by Supremo Quote
CDM Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Aew does seem to be doing some good storytelling at the moment. I do find myself watching dynamite and collision at the moment. Not sure if it's better or its just me but I do like it at the moment. Unfortunately aew has a habit of doing some really good stuff then doing something really stupid so hopefully they don't with the moxley storyline as I personally think it's working really well. The King Of Swing Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Couldn't care less about Statlander Vs. Kamille. Really done Statlander dirty, if she's gone through this shit just to do the job for Mercedes. Quote
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted October 31, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2024 That was a jam hot episode of Dynamite. Even Jericho couldn’t completely ruin for me as I was in such a good mood. Kamille though looks awful. Even Kris couldn’t make this work. She may have had an 800 day reign as champion in NWA, but that roster was wafer thin anyway. She’s like Jade was when she debuted, yet less impressive. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted October 31, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2024 Like your shitty ex who made you miserable and kept you from doing anything productive suddenly posting photos of you together when you’ve finally split up and made a success of yourself in their absence. REMEMBER THE BAD TIMES? Quote

Chili Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) Really great seeing Private Party win and getting that pop for doing so. We were all banging on about actually doing some progress with their longer stay midcard teams and now they've done it. They've been very very good recently, Zay in particular seems to have found his voice a bit and is cutting good promos. Well done to them. Edited October 31, 2024 by Chili Quote

Spoiler From ITRWrestling After the match, MVP was on his phone and he called somebody. MVP said something into the phone. The lights went out briefly and then they came back on. That led to the lights going out again. Bobby Lashley made his AEW debut while the lights were out. The lights came back on and Lashley was in a red leather suit. Lashley hugged MVP. OK So not THAT part, but the other part...based on the spoilers I read anyway Quote

Paid Members RedTwoster Posted October 31, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2024 Am I being pedantic by suggesting they made a mistake by not main eventing with the Private Party win? They wanted to do The Young Bucks angle, I get that - but that didn’t feel essential; and they could have still done a version of that if they really wanted (minus The Bucks leaving) and played on the idea of what happened to Cutler playing on their minds as the match got underway. Or they could have run the angle on Collision or Dynamite next week. It’s been a while since we had a feel-good ending on Dynamite, and seeing Private Party ascend to the top of the tag division after all this time would have been the perfect way to give us that. They’ve been on a long journey, and at points it seemed unlikely that they’d ever reach this point - I certainly wouldn’t have put money on it even a year ago. I dunno, I just feel like it deserved a better placement on the show. Quote
