Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted July 31 Paid Members Share Posted July 31 I think even @Chest Rockwell would appreciate why I'm linking to this. Looks like the taekwondo just started.
wordsfromlee
I spent a lovely couple of hours watching the Freestyle BMX finals and shouting "do a backflip!" at Kieran Reilly. Did he do one? Did he bollocks. Still did a hell of a run though. Â

wordsfromlee
Heard some chatter about the women’s boxing today. Went to have a look at what it was all about…
Members SuperBacon
For those unaware. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cw0yvln9z00o I feel really sorry for Imane Khelif, it's not her fault. She fits the eligibility of the IOC, which all the fighters are aware of and know before the competition starts. This isn't the IBA (International Boxing Association) and its not their rules. Still good of the transphobes to use this to aid their cause. They're discussing two women but go off Mumsnet I guess. Edited August 1 by SuperBacon Correct link. Reckon this is boxings last Olympics

A good reminder for all of us...oh alright then yes I did.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted August 1 Moderators Share Posted August 1 The Italians have been a bunch of fucking cry babies so far in these games so they don't have much credibility with me.

Always have been, always will be. The thing is, like with most combat sports, that's why the weight divisions exist. So it's fair. And like Bunce said in that article, she's not a devastating puncher. He's an expert by the way, people on social media aren't. Now I'm not saying I have an answer to someone being born with a DSD being able to compete (she's a woman, so why wouldn't she be allowed?) but again, I just feel so sorry for her. Imagine being spoken about the way she has been today by a large majority of people. Its really awful. But back to the point, yeah the Italians can absolutely do one. Cry more.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted August 1 Paid Members Share Posted August 1 They voted in that racist dickhead Meloni, so yeh - they can get to fuck. As for Khelif, has the world really learned fucking nothing more than a decade on from the whole Caster Semenya debacle?
StrongStyle
I think some of the comments in here are in very poor taste. Angela Carini has said that she felt she 'had to preserve her life' and has a suspected broken nose. We're showing kindness and empathy to Imane Khelif: I think some of us are letting ourselves down and falling into the trap of tit-for-tat. I feel very flattened by the whole thing on behalf of both participants. The world is ugly enough and the news cycle is depressing enough without this hateful shite plaguing our minds. I've seen very transphobic things on X today but I've also seen a lot of crowing. Seems that the Olympics isn't precluded from being a vehicle for tribalism.
