Absolute shambles at a game I was at on Saturday. Wicketkeeper takes a catch with a bit of a dive, appeal goes in before it's barely hit the gloves, umpire is lifting her finger within literally two second of it hitting the bat, and before her finger is fully in the air, the keeper's dropped it.

Cue lengthy discussion between umpires with the conclusion that the catch was valid when it was given out so it stands. Nobody else seems to agree, making the point that the fact the ball was on the ground less than a second later suggests she very much was not in control of the ball and her body.

So two things today. Farewell.to International cricket Chris Woakes. Almost unplayable in English conditions, and tireless abroad. A fine all-rounder. 

The other is less spectacular. I think it is likely that The West Indies will cease to be thought of as a major cricketing nation. I know T20 is not a great barometer but having been bowled out for 27 against the Aussies earlier this year, today they lost a T20 to Nepal, yes Nepal by 90 runs. Nepal have won the 3 match series with a game to spare and are only playing their first full series against a test playing nation. Sad times for cricket.

It's sad that the usual get tonked spin replacement this series is England's actual no.1. In mid-season form after going 0-130 odd for the Lions.

Yes, mildly taken out of context, but Big Baz claiming that too much preparation may have been responsible for this result is downright Orwellian.
