Im fancying Makhmudov for the upset, or we'll end up some kind of controversial decision/draw. The whole build up online seems to be around the fact that is hasn't sold well and you can pick up tickets for £9 online. Strange one this. Quote
NeverYield Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) Think it could be a decent enough, fun fight. Mak has lots of atttributes that will suit a fight with Fury at this stage of his career. He's not particularly quick, but will go for it i think, which should make it entertaining, he's not up to much defensively either, so if Fury decides to lay a few into him rather than move about and pot shot then that should be fun too. You never know with Fury, but I don't think he's that far gone Mak beats him but I'm not couting it out 100%, Fury's form hasn't been great. I think Fury is a great boxer, albeit one who has not lived up to his true potential, and on the subject of Fury, besides his obvious awkwardness that he uses extremely well ,I'm suprised noone has ever been able to get the best out of him in terms of leverages. He's a big man who has never seemed able to truly use his full bodyweight and size to his true. potential. except the mauling and awkward off setting stuff. Edited April 8 by NeverYield Quote
jimufctna24 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) I found it telling how easily Fury was able to maul Wilder in clinch, yet he was easily brushed off when he attempted to do the same to Usyk and Ngannou. Regarding Fury's career, I have to agree that he had the ability to achieve a lot more than he did, but politics, the pandemic, his mental health struggles, and licensing issues prevented him from doing so. Without his years in the wilderness between 2016 and 2018, and then the seemingly endless Wilder bouts, he could have perhaps added the likes of Povetkin, Parker, Ortiz, Joyce and Joshua to his resume, and the Peter Fury trained version of Fury would have surely dealt with Wilder far easier and taken away the need for rematches. Instead, Fury's resume is far thinner than it should be, with the 2014 version of Chisora quite arguably being his 3rd best win behind Wlad and Wilder. Heck, since he beat Wilder in 2020, the only notable name he's added to his resume is Dillian Whyte. His other wins after 2020 consist of pointless rematches and the Ngannou debacle. There was no shame in him being beaten twice by Usyk, he simply wasn't quite good enough to beat one of the best heavier weight boxers ever, but those were missed opportunities to make up for the lack of depth in his resume. Post-Usyk, I'm not overly interested in his career going forward unless he boxes Itauma, which isn't very likely. The Joshua fight is way past its sell by date, and a third bout with Usyk would be pointless. Edited April 8 by jimufctna24 Quote
