Gooner Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 I have no interest in Tyson vs. YouTuber, I know its going to make huge money, attach massive viewing figures but it isn't for me. I'm glad for my kids sake it's not on PPV vi's Netflix to watch as they'd have had to raid their own piggy banks to pay for that fiasco. I don't know what happens in this fight, Tyson was completely washed up 20 years ago, sounds like he struggles on a day to day basis to remember what he does, what day of the week it is etc. Its 14oz gloves and only 8x2 minute rounds so that's something but yeah, even with it only being the YouTuber he is facing, he doesn't need to be taking any shots the head whether 14oz gloves or 28oz gloves. I remember what Belfort did to Holyfield when they fought. I can't see the appeal besides unless people just desperate to see Tyson come back and knock somebody out or the younger generation of fans who want to see the YouTuber do anything, but not my world and does nothing for me. Taylor vs. Serrano 2 on the undercard is a really good fight, first fight was a lot of fun, I'd expect the same again but this time Serrano has her hand raised in a close points decision. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted November 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 14, 2024 The amount of people either at work or friends who seem to fully believe they’re gonna see 1988 Tyson is madness. I picked my daughter up from school earlier, I don’t get to do that much due to work but had an early finish today. I was catching up with one of the other dads while we waited for the kids to come out and he brought up the fight. He knows I’m into combat sports and asked how I thought the fight would go. I said you never know with these weird types of fights but most likely Jake Paul. He looked at me like I had three heads and went “REALLY?” Like it was crazy talk. I mean, you really never know but unless Tyson lands some bomb in the first minute or so, it’s almost guaranteed to end badly for him, isn’t it? Not that Jake’s anything amazing but he’s not as bad as many make out, plus he’s in his 20s and Tyson’s pushing 60 and looked awful at the end of his career about 20 years ago. I think a lot of people are watching Tyson highlights on YouTube and fully expecting the guy who ironed out Michael Spinks and almost beheaded Marvis Frazier to show up tomorrow night. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 15, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted November 15, 2024 You love to see it: Quote
TibBo Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Either it'll be a pre-agreed exhibition and go to a draw, or Tyson is getting flattened if they take it seriously I'd have thought? Too much age and size difference. Would love to see Tyson starch him, but I imagine it is going to be 8 rounds of pat-a-cake and everyone laughs off into the sunset... Quote

Yeah, I hate to have my 80s wrestler 'Everything is a Work, Brother' hat on, but I have to imagine they've agreed to have a nice little exhibition where neither man gets embarrassed. As you said, Tyson obliterating him would be lovely, but I think it's going to be a very dull affair and won't live up to what (some) people think it's going to be. Bit of a no-lose situation for Tyson if it is going to be an actual contest, mind. If he wins, he defies the odds and reminds everyone of what he used to be. If he loses, well, he's a 58-year-old ex-fighter who is long past his prime and got beat by a man less than half his age. Either way, he's at least $20 million richer... Quote
Kfogg1991 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Just seen the netflix post with scheduled times what a total joke. Not expecting Tyson and Paul to start till 4am and having one fight a hour on the main card. Seriously pissed with that news Quote
300 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Just fast forward it in the morning mate. Quote

5pints 2.0 Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Well that was embarrassing Netflix. They can't handle the live stream. Hope they get it sorted before streaming WWE LPE's! Quote

Members SuperBacon Posted November 16, 2024 Members Posted November 16, 2024 Fantastic as always from Donald McRae on this utter farce. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2024/nov/16/jake-paul-vs-mike-tyson-boxing-fight-arlington-texas-report-result "Jake Paul, a 27-year-old social media huckster, beat a 58-year-old man with a long history of health problems, both physically and mentally, in a boxing ring late on Friday night" What an opening. NeverYield Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Seen clips of Katie Taylors fight, hats off to her, absolute cracker. I didn't watch the whole card as the main event is just bonkers but fair play to Taylor. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 16, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted November 16, 2024 I'd imagine there's a lot of people feeling pretty conned this morning Quote
NeverYield Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I heard for one thing the stream was an absolute shambles. I've had a little read up of the event and it all sounds bizarre, what on earth was going on with Tysons ring wear. Quote
