Gooner Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Conor Benn almost had slip of tongue during his interview before the Eubank Jr fight. "The first time I've seen him since my.....err the last press conference" Wouldn't have anything to do with the two failed drug tests, would it? Quote

Absolute shithousery Has occurred there. It looked that way. Apparently he sprained his ankle, but it was impossible to look at it like he wasn't trying to get out of the fight. Whittaker is one of the more dislikeable, try-hard fighters in the game, hopefully this humbles him a little. Now I love fight hype more than anyone, give me all the bullshit, but that Eubank/Benn confrontation was the most staged, forced looking head to head i can remember seeing. Trying to shoehorn Neymar in between them and actively see the people around them try to put people in position, shite, hated it. Will still watch the fight though. Fabio Wardley, jesus. That was brutal. No one predicted a 1 round destruction job, 60/1 with the bookies apparently. I hope Frazer Clarke is ok, he literally had the side of his head caved in. Brutal, Wardley in full flow is ferocious. Controversy in the main event though. It delivered, excellet high quality fight but I thought Bivol won it comfortably by 2-3 rounds (though i didn't score it on paper). There's absolutely no way Beterbiev won it 8-4 like the one judge had it though. Seen some people online saying Bivol was fucked the moment Ramzan Kadyrov showed up to watch the fight. Only in combat sports. Quote
NeverYield Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 (edited) Yeah Wardley displayed freakish power there. For me Beterbiev, the right man won, just nowhere near as wide, those cards are a joke. Bivol was unreal himself but I felt Beterbiev wanted it more and pushed it more, I'm aware wanting it more isn't a point scoring pursuit, and Bivol had some accurate punching whilst some of Beterbievs flurries were hitting glove, but there was times Bivol seemed to go missing a bit for me, I don't think anyone should stop throwing shots with 10 seconds to go in a round and fight of that calibre I rate them both though and that fight was as good as you'll get, no issue with them running it back. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 16, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 16, 2024 Yeah I felt like Beterbiev edged it by a round or two but I wouldn’t have been outraged if they scorecards went Bivol’s way. Both fought really well and there were a few rounds where there wasn’t much in it that could’ve swung the decision in either direction. Hasn’t stopped the crying about robberies though. Most fight fans don’t know what an actual robbery is though. Wasn’t expecting Wardley to just bulldoze Clarke like that either. One of the scarier knockouts in a while for me. Completely out of it on his knees, with his head all misshapen and his jaw swinging like Conor McGregor on…well, any random day that ends in Y. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 16, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 16, 2024 If you are the one boxing on the back foot then you have to clearly demonstrate that you won because judges favour the guy going forwards. Bivol probably won, but did he clearly win? For me Clive he didn't. This is like Catteral v Taylor 1 for me. People shouted robbery in that fight but Taylor did all the pressing and Catteral boxed well off the back foot. You'd figure there will be a rematch, especially as Turki has said he wants one. A great fight and a rematch will hopefully be as good. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 17, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted October 17, 2024 Interesting turn of events, Ben Shalom claiming something was up with Fabio Wardley's gloves. Doesn't sound like tampering, more he shouldn't have been allowed to them to begin with. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 18, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2024 The board have already confirmed there is no investigation and that there was nothing wrong with Wardley's gloves. Shalom is also claiming that Whittaker's custom made boots caused his injury. Basically talking a lot of bollocks because his fighters got beat and drew. Quote

d-d-d-dAz Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 'There's no way in hell boxing gloves should cause that level of damage' Can you imagine a Doctor saying that? That's not how force works. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 18, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2024 Frank is already on the warpath. Claiming Shalom should be up before the board for bringing the sport into disrepute. If Adam Azim gets beat at the weekend Shalom will explode. Quote

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 19, 2024 Author Paid Members Posted October 19, 2024 Solid Boxxer card tonight though, odds are tight on most the main card fights and that main event start time is tidy! Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 19, 2024 Paid Members Posted October 19, 2024 Looking forward to this. If Azim is any good he should beat OD. Hilariously Azim is using the same make of gloves that Wardley used against Big Fraze, though you'd imagine they will be smaller. Quote
