Obscure celebrity fandoms

For the past two nights, i've had really weird dreams where I was either best friends with or out socialising with people off the telly.

Tuesday night, I was hanging out with Mark Labbett off The Chase, but last night, and the real catalyst for this thread, I was best mates with Eunice Huthart and visiting her behind the scenes of a TV program she was stunt co-ordinator for.

It was only when I woke up and was, and I promise you this with not a hint of exaggeration, really, REALLY disappointed to realise I wasn't actually best buds with the female Gladiators phenom, that i've been strangely obsessed with her for bloody ages not.  Not in a sexual way, just that I think about her a lot, how brilliant an athlete she was, how much charisma she had, thinking of ways I could involve her in various work initiatives, fundraisers, advocacy that sort of thing.

Challenge has been must see TV on Sunday nights for a good few months now as it entered the Huthart era of Gladiators, and that sense of very real sadness when I work up this morning struck me that it was a particularly odd fandom.

I just wondered whether anyone on here was so ardently 'into' someone off the telly, whom for the most part is utterly unknown and most certainly currently irrelevant?

Not really fandom, but Roger Taylor off of Queen has been haunting my dreams for the last few years. He turns up in the most random situations and seems intent on just annoying me. I'd actually love it if he kept showing up in my real life but in my dreams he's an absolute tit.

This is more akin to having a dream you're mates with a tele person, rather than a fandom. 'T' from salvage hunters. He's the fat but now slimmer bloke who drives Drew around in the van. He always  chucks a non humerus pun in on every trip to a potential pick.

Ive had a couple of dreams now where myself and one of my mates who really likes the programme are sat in the pub. He spots 'T' and he joins us for a couple of pints. It all starts off well with him telling us that Drew has a really dark side that he can sort us out some cheap oak furniture. He drops on a couple of puns here and there, which weren't funny but can be forgiven as he's just trying to be friendly. But then it gets to the point where everything he says ends up being a shit play on words and we end up doing the whole "is that the time?" Routine and fuck off to the pub next door.

The 2nd dream was somewhat of a follow on. He spotted us and clicked we had ditched him. He won't let us past him and for whatever reason we don't have the courage to fight past him. He gets on the phone and calls Drew in a pretty terrifying and sinister tone... "guess who I've just bumped in to..." as if he's just called the head of a mafia family and we've previously insulted him.

As it stands we are now waiting for Drew to turn up... no idea what to expect.. part of me doesn't want to know.

Not sure if this counts but have seen this guy walking around my local town which seems an odd fandom http://www.echo-news.co.uk/news/14998195.Eastenders_superfan_spends___5_000_transforming_his_home_into_Ben_Mitchell_shrine/

Harrowing.

A tracksuit, a full on Ben Mitchell tracksuit.

Is anyone friends with someone who is deemed a celebrity and have you witnessed their fans being all fannyish?

I have one good friend who has done well for himself online/YouTube personality stuff. That in itself is bad enough, but people following him down the street asking him to sign random objects is a bit fucking strange.

I dreamt a couple of weeks ago that I'd gone for a piss in the middle of the night and 80's pop sensations the Thompson Twins were stood on our landing.  I asked them what they were doing and they just shrugged so I told them to fuck off.

As for strange fandom, a woman I used to work with called fat Linda runs the Tony Christie fan club and follows him round the country.

That Ben Mitchell fan is creepy as hell. If I were the actor, I'd get a preemptive restraining order.

Maybe that's why there seems to be a new Ben Mitchell every year, this cunt bumps them off.

I saw Eric Andre having a photoshoot once - he was setting on the pavement in a rubber ring that looked like a flamingo. Our eyes met, and we had a moment of "what the fuck is this life?" And then I cycled on. Since then he haunts my dreams, even though I've only ever seen snippets of his show. He's in my dreams, we go down the cob shop near my school, we both get cheese and pickle. I give him a croggie on my shot bike from when I was about 14, and then we do various stuff, like go to the pictures, explore the old train tracks, or have dinner with some mates.

My girlfriend works with a lady called (courtesy of deed poll) Sharon John Travolta.

She was on some game show once where she had to identify which John Travolta film it was from his hairline (I've actually seen this, so it must be on YouTube somewhere). Naturally, she lives in a house jam packed with John Travolta memorabilia.

The actual John Travolta knows her well, and will take her out to dinner when he's visiting England.

I'm a big fan of Martin Brundle (ex-F1 driver, now SkyF1 commentator) but I don't have any tattoos of him or track suits with his face on. I have a framed signed photo he took for charity on my living room wall and I've met him on numerous occasions. I'm also owner of his Facebook page. He knows about it - I told him, he already knew - and although it's not official he says he's pleased he has an FB presence. Although it also states it's a fan page people still think it's actually him. And he does pop up in my dreams sometimes too.
