As I said I was thinking of going for League One or the Coupe de France this week instead, but we can drop as low as the Isthmian League if you really like! I was at Weston-super-Mare v Eastbourne Borough myself, so maybe I should've included that. Anyhow, the results went into the opening post at the usual time on Sunday night, but this write-up is a bit later than usual because my laptop suddenly decided to restart and do a major update at quarter to midnight without warning. There was no movement at all in the table this week (which at least makes my job easier!), with the average score being just 4.2 points. That's much lower than it used to be for international rounds. Rory still leads the standings by 6, whilst the gap at the other end is down to only a single point, and best performer TildeGuy~! was the sole participant to get more than one exact score. Goalless draws have been the order of the day during this break, with Belgium-Mexico (alongside last night's equally meaningless Russia-Spain encounter) stealing all the excitement to provide an entertaining exception. Said stalemates were by and large less than helpful. In matches where someone did score, Italy's reverse in Sweden caught a lot of people out... and the outcomes in Africa didn't prove fruitful either. Only a French home win against Wales turned out to be easier to foresee for most players. Proper football will be back from next weekend until shortly before Easter so that we – as well as the top club sides – can actually start building some momentum without all this disruption.
