Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted December 4, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 4, 2014 From a conversation about Jared Leto in another thread comes..... Â Â I liked My So Called Life when I was a kid. Â Thankfully I have never heard his band. I've been told they are terrible. Â Are there any people who became big time movie stars first, and went on to have actually good sustained music careers? Â There's the odd song here and there, but I can't think of any examples offhand - I'm just thinking about Keanu and Juliette Lewis. Â I think one of the big difficulties they face is having the spotlight on them immediately before they have honed their new craft so it does make it difficult. Keith Houchen
Kevin Costner springs to mind, his band tour and ARENT above their station. Steven Segall is of course the king of the blues as well
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted December 4, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted December 4, 2014 Ryan Gosling's 'Dead Mans Bones' are akin to Peroxywhygen question mark. Will Smith has had a pretty relevant music career. I'd say that counts. Which came first, the rapper or the actor? Or both?
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted December 4, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted December 4, 2014 Yeah.. Will Smith was kinda the full package from the start, right? Â Â How could I forget Segal? I didn't even know Kevin Costner had a band. Are they actually any good?
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted December 4, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted December 4, 2014 Russell Crowe’s ’30 Odd Foot of Grunts’. Not heard them but I imagine they’re wank.
Keith Houchen
I didn't even know Kevin Costner had a band. Are they actually any good? Run of the mill country music. Not a patch on the blue eyed soul of Bruce Willis. This needs its own thread.

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted December 4, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted December 4, 2014 Hugh Laurie's a notable one. A Comedian/Actor/Musician. Someone on here, I think Surf, said Hugh Laurie is rubbish. So I didn't bother listening to him. Â Steve Martin, on the other hand, is pretty good at what he does. I think works well as an example for this.. it seems to be mostly you get away with it as an older celeb who is out of the limelight from the examples we've found so far.
