Really Big Shoe
It did look like the fan got his glove mitt partially in Judges way trying to catch it but Boone didn't make a deal about either so maybe it was the TV replay angle that made it appear that it was interference. The Angels are a sleeper team to look out for. Currently 24-16 & second behind the Astros. Ohtani has been a great pickup for them. Yankees have been mostly solid. Think it was one of the Red Sox games were CCs pitching was a bit dodgy. It's a position they should look into strengthening as Tanakas their best guy. Seems an issue with the Red Sox too with their bullpen. Definitely super competitive in the AL East and has to be between the Red Sox & Yankees if things stay as they are as they are neck & neck. The Bluejays are 7.5 games back in third, Tampas 11 and The Os at 15.5 GB.
WyattSheepMask
Robinson Cano has been banned for 80 games after testing positive for Furosemide, a diuretic masking agent to cover PEDs or can be used to assist rapid weightloss
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted May 25, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted May 25, 2018 We've DFA'd Hanley Ramirez to get Pedroia on the roster. Absolutely staggered by this. At best, it's depressing as hell and possibly a good decision from a long term business perspective. At worst, this is a disaster.
Really Big Shoe
Interesting article talking about the possible reasons behind the Soxs decision. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2018/05/25/red-sox-part-ways-with-hanley-ramirez/V8PHkHq10EEMLEATQKCeQK/story.html

Seems more than likely two reasons they designated him for assignment - financial and to make room for Pedroia.
Paid Members seph Posted June 3, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted June 3, 2018 Michael Wacha blew a no-no on the first out of the 9th tonight
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted June 4, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted June 4, 2018 Splitting the series against the Astros away, while not having Mookie Betts to boot, is a real shot in the arm. Those are the sort of series we have to be proving our worth in, it's no good cleaning up against the Rays and the Orioles and then getting swept in October again. Considering the pitching match ups weren't really great for us either (starting off the series with the lumbering mass on incompetence that is Drew Pomeranz), it's a handy result. Going to have to watch the highlights of that Wacha performance. Nothing worse than watching a no-no busted in the 9th, although I would have been fine with it if it were the one we had against Sean Mania earlier in the year
Really Big Shoe
MLB All Star game tonight (will be repeated the day after and a few more times). Home Run derby is repeated today on ESPN, no Judge or Stanton in it. Don't think Ohtani is in either, pinch hitting for the Angels last week and hit a great homer against the Dodgers. Apart from that the As are doing well, The Red Sox are just pulling ahead of the Yankees and the Braves have been a surprise package this season too. Paid Members Gus Mears Posted July 17, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 17, 2018 (edited) The Braves have been such a fun team to watch, plus a huge amount of room to grow as well, which is exciting. Red Sox with their largest lead since the insane opening run, but I won't feel confident about the division until we dig into a few more of the games we have against Cleveland and New York. I don't think this Indians team is as good as the one a couple of years back (doesn't help that the division is atrocious), but still a solid outfit. Be interested to see where Machado ends up prior to the trade deadline (please, not the Yankees). Obviously a phenomenal player and he'll get insane money this off season. Considering the embarrassment that is the 2018 Baltimore Orioles, God alone knows how much worse they would have been without him. Some utterly dross teams this year between them, the Royals and a couple of others. The Sox could win 110 games at this rate and we have not got a team that's that good; just a real lack of competition about, especially in the AL. Keith Houchen
Can't believe Hanley is still a free agent! Jose Abreu has been the stand out of a dismal White Sox season, although beating Kansas in the battle of the shittest was nice.
Paid Members seph Posted July 17, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 17, 2018 The Cards finally pulled the trigger on sacking Mattheny... one game before the break. Odd timing aside it was overdue - We're barely over .500 so far, Yadi only made the NL squad as a replacement, and the one guy there on merit (Mikolas) is now out on paternity leave. There's lots to be done to avoid a third straight year not qualifying for postseason ball.
Really Big Shoe
There was a rumour started up by a crime reporter about federal & state investigation into Hanley over drug trafficking charges. However he was completely innocent and a friend just brought his name up. https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/06/22/hanley-ramirez-eyed-federal-state-invesitgation-red-sox https://nypost.com/2018/06/25/hanley-ramirez-was-the-victim-of-desperate-friend/ Could the Red Sox have known that before DTAing him. I doubt it, as Alex Cora said he knew nothing about it. So it was more so to do with moving salary around. Baltimore were interested in Hanley but their fans were complaining but they need him when Manny leaves. The Phillies, Brewers and Dodgers are in for Manny Machado. The Yankees were but didn't want to give up a promising pitcher. Philly seemed to be leading the way in the race but the Dodgers are back in and if they pick him up with Muncy & Kemp being surprise successes then I think LA have a great chance of making the World Series again this year . http://amp.si.com/mlb/2018/07/17/mlb-trade-rumors-latest-news-manny-machado Another hit to the Os is Adam Jones will be a free agent soon too. There's talk of an Indians trade http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/news/mlb-trade-rumors-2018-baltimore-orioles-cleveland-indians-discussed-deals-for-multiple-players-adam-jones/1pzx5mz2l1kne19tdnn5cytvat So I wouldn't rule out them trading him now so they can go into rebuild mode. Plus Zach Britton of the Os has trade interest in him too. The Baltimore Orioles are 39.5 games back to the Red Sox so the seasons already over for them really halfway through. So if they manage to get good players in for Manny and if Jones & Britton go they might finish the end of the season a bit better. But now it's a washout and when they were OK to fairly good last season it makes you wonder why they are doing so badly. Their only real notable wins are a series win against the Yankees
Really Big Shoe
Manny Machado is now a LA Dodger. LA traded 5 of their minor league prospects to the Orioles for him. https://mobile.twitter.com/Orioles/status/1019750485170032641/photo/1 https://www.mlb.com/news/orioles-get-5-prospects-for-manny-machado/c-286394044 Yusniel Diaz is predicted the most likely to make it to the Majors & be a success. The Os are also looking to trade 3 more players including Jones & Britton to speed up the rebuilding process. Im assuming their poor season is what forced their hand. Had they be competing with the Red Sox & NYY I believe they'd have wanted to keep Manny and offer him a new deal. Surprising they let their best player walk away essentially. Ideally you build around him but maybe Manny Machado had plans to leave the Orioles anyway and they at least got some prospects in for him. Diaz might turn into a promising player but filling Manny's shoes will be a tough act to follow.
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted July 19, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted July 19, 2018 Makes complete sense for the Orioles. Machado was never signing for them again in free agency (can see him end up a Yankee) and the team is beyond rancid this year. Get some prospects in, make the most of the draft picks you'll get next year and start rebuilding.
