Paid Members gmoney Posted February 12, 2011 Paid Members Posted February 12, 2011 Â Â I was leafing through an old Loaded mag the other day whilst having a pint and playing darts, and came across a spread on the glory of the bacon sandwich. Let's celebrate this most wondrous of creations. Â Â How do you have yours?
Paid Members air_raid Posted February 12, 2011 Paid Members Posted February 12, 2011 Bread, brown sauce. Fry the bread on one side. Mama used to dip one side in the fat and pop it on the grill till it went crunchy. Â Must admit if I'm going to be arsed to get the pan out for a breakfast/hangover sandwich, 9 times out of 10 there has to be sausage too and black pudding doesn't hurt. Â Well... Â Â EDIT Yeah, Reggae Reggae for a change is nice too. Fuck ketchup.
The Maestro Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Had one earlier today. Cooked some lean 21 day matured smoked bacon, put it on some bread, splashed some ketchup on it and put it the Breville machine for a few minutes. Absolutely ace.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted February 12, 2011 Paid Members Posted February 12, 2011 I like it between two slices of white toast. I don't mind the odd sliced cherry tomato either. A fried egg doesn't go amiss either!
The King Of Swing Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Plain white bread smuthered in brown or tomato sauce. Â Nice and simple for me.
spotlightmagnet1 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 A nice white crusty roll or white toast with a little touch of ketchup. It is beautiful.
David Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Grilled to the crispy border. Oven bottom muffin, buttered if I fancy a decadent treat. Brown sauce, or reggae reggae if it's a special occassion. Good call there, chief.
Paid Members Teedy Kay Posted February 12, 2011 Paid Members Posted February 12, 2011 This thread has made me genuinely laugh out loud at an internet forum screen for the first time in years.
rubbafish Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Barely cooked bacon (just turned white), crusty roll, unbuttered with HP sauce. If I am in fat boy mode, doubled up with cumberland sausages. Nice! Â Also loving the Mary Whitehouse Experience nod in the thread title.
Registration_Form Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Quite versatile, the old bacon sandwich. Â Either the mid-day snack BLT on brown roll 'healthy option'. The addition of a good handful of lettuce neutralises all the fat of the bacon (if someone could verify this for me that would be great..). Â Or the unashamed, fat-bastard hangover. Four slices of white bread scrambl poache fried egg on one with two pieces of bacon and one sausage, same on the other substituting egg for grilled tomato. Brown sauce on both. I'd actually squirt a dollop of ketchup straight into the bin as a nod to anyone even contemplating mixing that with the bacon sandwich.
Paid Members Tommy! Posted February 12, 2011 Paid Members Posted February 12, 2011 Despite my push for more brown bread over white its still often white for a bacon sandwich for the texture. Thick cut bacon crisped up just a touch with some brown sauce. I'm not a big fan of eggs on sandwiches, it's a bit of a mess for me, but some mushrooms if I forgo the brown sauce is top. I also like it in a long crusty cob for a change now and then. Â Bacon preferably fried, then grilled and microwaved as a last result. I don't have them much now though, sadly.
Paid Members Green Posted February 12, 2011 Paid Members Posted February 12, 2011 Personally, I hate bacon.
Keith Houchen Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Mrs Houchen is a vegetarian so I don't bother with them. However whenever I go back to Ireland, where vegetarianism is illegal, I have a lovely bacon sanger cooked by my dear old mum every morning.
Adam Young Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Also loving the Mary Whitehouse Experience nod in the thread title. Â Would've loved to have seen the bridge it was graffiti'd on. Observational comedy at it best circa 1990.
KillerTwist Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 With a sausage and a fried egg. Might as well do it properly.
