Stuff you learned from Films and TV

The idea for this thread stems from the DJ Kris/Loki exchange about the Indiana Jones films. Are there any facts or trivia you "learned" from the telly that were made up? Stuff you saw in films and then remembered as being a real thing?

When I was about twelve, I thought Jackie Onassis got killed along with JFK because that was what happened in the "original timeline" in an episode of Quantum Leap.

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

Sam intervened and saved Jackie, but not John. :(

Don't bother with tropes and narrative cliches, like.

I assumed, having watched the CSI series, that crime scene investigation officers got to go out and chase people with guns, and arrest people and do interviews and shit. Turns out they basically go to a crime scene, then go back to the lab.

Car doors are not bulletproof.

fairly bulletproof though

Not at all, might stop a BB gun or air rifle but bothing bigger. Cars are surprisingly little use as bullet shields, only the engine block.

They'll stop a 5.56mm from an SA80 at a range of 100m
