King Pitcos Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 The idea for this thread stems from the DJ Kris/Loki exchange about the Indiana Jones films. Are there any facts or trivia you "learned" from the telly that were made up? Stuff you saw in films and then remembered as being a real thing? Â When I was about twelve, I thought Jackie Onassis got killed along with JFK because that was what happened in the "original timeline" in an episode of Quantum Leap. Â SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read Sam intervened and saved Jackie, but not John. Â Â Don't bother with tropes and narrative cliches, like.

Loki Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I assumed, having watched the CSI series, that crime scene investigation officers got to go out and chase people with guns, and arrest people and do interviews and shit. Turns out they basically go to a crime scene, then go back to the lab.

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted January 21, 2011 Moderators Posted January 21, 2011 I still like to take my shoes off and make fists with my toes and walk even though it doesn't do anything and it was just a convenient plot device to make John McClane barefooted.

insert_name_here Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 The nerd gets the girl. A similar one to that is that if i act like the lovable, goofy, roughish, best friend then Elizabeth Banks or someone of an equal level of attractiveness will fall for me

ozzfan Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 War & Peace wasn't originally called War, What Is It Good For? Â I should throw a personal organiser at you for that. Â Â Bullets don't make everything violently explode.
SpiralTap Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Car doors are not bulletproof.  fairly bulletproof though  Not at all, might stop a BB gun or air rifle but bothing bigger. Cars are surprisingly little use as bullet shields, only the engine block.
