The Shield DVD was almost exactly the same doc as the network one from SummerSlam time, wasn't it?

For Bryan's DVD, matches that'd be priority for me:

vs Jericho, NXT debut

vs Batista, Raw 2010

vs DiBiase, that PPV towards the end of 2010

vs Ziggler, as above

Money in the Bank 2011

vs Orton, that one time on Raw in 2013

vs Shield, that 2013 Smackdown where he beat them

vs Cena, SummerSlam 2013

vs Triple H, WrestleMania 30

vs Batista vs Orton, WrestleMania 30

There's stuff like the Sheamus matches and the Wyatt Rumble one that could go on there, but would probably be best saved for that wrestler's DVD instead. I'm assuming TLC 2012 is on the Shield DVD. Though a few more bouts from 2011 and 2012 would balance out that listing more.

It's a pity we see everything now. Looking at Pity's list above and we've all probably seen most matches or can find them easily. Then look at the Lawler handful and there's a couple you didn't even know happened.

I'm surprised they don't tape more stuff from house shows or international tours to make them DVD/network exclusive. Gimmick matches we don't see a lot of or odd tag team partners would go down well. I'd drag some old timers out for matches. Who wouldn't want to see Daniel Bryan vs. Sid?

There isn't much they could save as a house show draw (to later show on network/DVD) without it being stupid to not put it on a big event. At a house show, the appeal is being there live to see the stuff they do on TV. WWE isn't in the habit anymore of producing the shitty quality house show footage they used to love showing on TV. When was the last time they did it, the JBL/Eddie Guerrero's Mom heart attack thing? On the occasions since when there have been title changes on live events, they seem to only have used photos on Raw. For them to deem a show worthy of broadcast now, they'd probably have to do a full TV camera/lighting setup. But how big a draw is Cena vs Rollins #39647549093236532 for network subscriptions? Most likely not worth bothering with.

I'm not thinking they'd do it so it's all just fantasy but I'd think of that as a positive not a negative. For network exclusive matches, it wouldn't need a massive set up, just decent cameras and better lighting. I wouldn't do it to draw people to houses but to create content for their services from things they are doing anyway.

It wouldn't have to have any consequence to anything and it wouldn't be at the expense of PPV take up so you could have silly stuff like Bryan vs. Wyatt in a dog collar match or Cena and Reigns vs. The Usos or something and it wouldn't be at the expense of anything. On Raw/SD there's little point having old guys on but on Network or DVD's that are primarily aimed at hardcores, you'd get interest if Bryan vs. Jannetty was on there in reasonable but not brilliant quality. Seems low-cost to me.

Why would you not think putting old-timers on TV would be a good idea? There's surely more mileage in doing stuff on Smackdown than on house shows -- particularly in examples like Bryan vs Jannetty, where wrestling fans across the world want to see what MJ's ankles look like, but 5000 people in Titwank Minnesota might not buy a ticket for (in comparison to Bryan vs Rollins or whatever). It cannibalises your live event market and neglects your TV for a network return that probably doesn't pay off, because the people who care about Marty Jannetty are already subscribing anyway.

Essentially, the TV shows aren't so full of good ideas that they've got ideas spare for live events. And even if they did, they'd never do basic MSG Network type shoots (which are probably not as cheap as we'd think anyway) again.

WrestlingDVD News reporting that although the main feature on the Daniel Bryan disc is just the Network documentary with about 10 minutes extra footage, the matches/segments on the set will all have a Bryan intro, so it's a hybrid of the two main DVD set formats WWE uses.

Now Triple H said outright that kayfabe is irrelevant, why not get talent to record commentary tracks? Austin's were fascinating, and give you a new appreciation for the workers.

— Casket Match

Jerry Lawler vs. The Undertaker

WWE @ White Plains, NY • September 28, 1994

Jerry Lawler seemed to be a weird choice of an opponent for a gimmick match with Taker considering at the time Taker was in the middle of a feud with Yoko again, once they got that two Undertaker's shite out of the way.
