jimufctna24
Joshua vs Whyte did 400k. I'm not sure what his fights with Marin and Breazeale did. I would say that 300-400k is a realistic for Joshua vs Molina. GAD went a bit OTT with the hyperbole, but probably not by that much.  Joshua vs either Haye or Fury would indeed break the bank. Remember, both Froch vs Groves 2 and Hatton vs Floyd pulled buyrates in the range of 1 million buys (perhaps a bit more in the case of the latter). There is a massive market there under the right circumstances. Plus, we are in somewhat of a boxing boom in this country.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 9, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted December 9, 2016 Mayweather vs Hatton was on in the early hours at US time as well. The fact that so many people were willing to pay for that fight AND stay up until the wee hours makes it even more impressive than the Froch vs Groves numbers for me. Testament to Hatton's barmy popularity over here and the chance to see him take Floyd's 0. That fight felt genuinely mega at the time, didn't it? seanz25
The thing is the PPV figures bounded around over here are rumors/speclation as Sky don't officially release them. I'd say though the fact Hearn seems content to keep throwing Joshua in with relative nobody's on PPV would be a good indication he's doing big business on the platform. They'd have gone and had bigger opponents if so.As much interest as the Whyte/Chisora thing has drawn I'm not convinced it's doing 300k+ - It's an expensive season with Christmas just round the corner, people are trying to save cash here and there. I've spoken to a number of casuals this week that although they seem to have an interest it's more for Whyte/Chisora and they all think it's a big of a laugh with WWE-esque shenanigans. They'll likely stream it rather than buy it. Edited December 9, 2016 by seanz25
Gooner
I'm looking forward to a few fights taking place in the States early Sunday morning.  Two unbeaten fighters facing off, Jermall Charlo defending 154lbs IBF title against Jullian Williams. Jesus Cuellar defending his 126lbs WBA title against Abner Maras and Terence Crawford defending his 140lbs WBC/WBO titles against John Molina Jr. The Crawford/Molina Jr fight is live on Boxnation from 02:00am and the other two will need to be seen over here by other means.  Charlo vs Williams is the most intriguing for me, Charlo has the better resume after defeating former champ Trout in his last fight, but Williams has been really hyped over the last few years and maybe this is his time to shine? Can see both of them having really good moments in the fight, but expect Charlo in the end to edge it on  close split points decision.  For all the other big fights for the day/night I got:  Joshua by KO3 Whyte UD Parker TKO8 Cuellar SD Crawford TKO9  I'll add myself to the list of people who seem to expect Whyte/Chisora to be a boring fight, I hope to be pleasantly surprised but I'm expecting a snooze fest and the build up with the whole table throwing, swearing etc was cringe worthy.
jimufctna24
That fight felt genuinely mega at the time, didn't it? Yep. Right fight, right boxers, right time. Â As well as boxing is doing in the UK at the moment, I still don't think anyone has come close to Hatton's appeal in recent years. Froch and Joshua are without question very popular, but Hatton's popularity easily eclipses them both.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 10, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted December 10, 2016 I know Joshua is popular but I just didn't think you'd get 400/500K over here. We've never really been a particularly big PPV buying country, have we? And it's not like Molina is a big name fight either. If he was fighting someone like Klitschko as originally planned I could see it. Haye and Fury against Joshua are the two fights I can see really doing big over here if they ever happen. If AJ can do around half a mil with Eric Molina then that's pretty impressive. AJ's show do crazy numbers, even against duff opponents, it's seriously impressive. The thing is, i dont many people who actually buy the PPV's, everybody in work watches the fights live but i ask around and very few pay, they all hook up dodgy streams. Â Makes you wonder what the numbers would be like if streams didnt exist.

But to a slightly smaller extent we don't know the true figures of how many people hit up bars, pubs and casino's to watch his fights here. Those numbers don't get calculated yet I know they'd add a ton of overall viewership.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 10, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted December 10, 2016 God knows how they work it out, theres no denying Joshua's popularity though.
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted December 10, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted December 10, 2016 Well, I've bought it. Looking forward to Chisora fight particularly, which is barely ever the case. Be nice to see Quigg too.

Paid Members Fox Piss Posted December 10, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted December 10, 2016 His biggest win on paper is Malik Scott which ended when Scott bottled/got up too late despite being fine. For me he beat Robert Helenius for the European title in 2011. He lost via split decision. Â

jimufctna24
Parker vs Ruiz Jr was a decent enough scrap. It was razor close as well. I gave Ruiz rounds 1-3, 10, and 11. With Parker just about stealing the rest, and dominating the middle rounds. I think the judges got it right. A very narrow win for Parker. That being said - as much as I like Parker - I couldn't see him giving Joshua and Fury many issues.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 10, 2016 Author Paid Members Share Posted December 10, 2016 it was close, it settled into a routine early though where Parker would move around flicking off the jab and firing the occasional right hand, whilst Ruiz followed him about. There were no real huge moments and neither man ever appeared hurt, but scoring was a case of what you liked i guess. Was razor thin on the cards though which surpised me considering where the fight took place. Â The whole time it was on, i had a couple of mates messaging me saying how AJ would destroy both of them. Mainly down to the fact that neither looks to be impressive physical shape (Ruiz specifically). It's comments like that really hopes to see Molina land one on AJ tonight. Â Anthony Yarde is going to be the next guy the casual boxing fan base gets behind, another guy who physically looks the part.
Porkchopcash
The only people i could see giving Joshua trouble are Haye or Fury. Think he'll stop big Wlad. Although Warren sounds bitter, everything he said in the interview is true. Does anyone know the fight order tonight? Dont think im getting it in till 8 oclock. I assume the last 3 will be Quigg, Delboy, AJ.
