Housemate returned from holiday and wanted to see it and we were more than willing to give it a second watch. Just as much fun the second time. It doesn't seem like the sort of film that'll win many awards but Christoph Waltz deserves so much praise for his performance that I hope he scoops a few. I know he got "Best Actor" at the Cannes film festival, but in truth that should just be the start. Tremendous performance. Other stuff... I've seen the trailer for Funny People about five times now. The latest one is one of those uber-extended trailers that walks you through the entire movie and it really doesn't make it look very good. Sorority Row is actually "I know what you did last summer". Seeing The Final Destination in 3D on Friday, it looks like it'll be a great deal of schlocky fun. Can't wait.

I know i shouldn't have expected anything good to come out of a movie starring and directed by Rob Schneider but this was terrible in every way. I can't believe that Randy Couture, Don Frye and Bob Sapp wasted their time in this steaming pile of shit. I'm positive the realisation of how bad this movie is, is what caused David Carradine to kill himself.

There was a bit of over-reliance on the OHMYGODRUNREALLYFASTANDPLAYTHATMUSICWHILEPEOPLESCREAMANDDIE shots, but it was a good waste of time. I did feel like, towards the end, they had absolutely no idea where they wanted to go with it, which definitely made it feel more like a cash-in than a true continuation of the story. Still, I've seen much worse. It's a 6.5/10 sort of film, but in a pleasing way.

I was really quite hopeful about R-Point, the trailer looked good but I missed it in the cinema. I heard good things and actually bought it on DVD. Don't think there's much I can add to what's already been said but echoing JLM's sentiment that Christoph Waltz was tremendous in it needs to be done. He was absolutely superb throughout. I don't think Brad Pitt was on screen at any point where he didn't look like he was enjoying himself. He looked like he was having a riot the entire time.

Either I completely zoned out or temporarily died or something. Hmm. I was still really disappointed by it, but I am hopeful that The Guard Post will be better.
Harvey Dent Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Watched Death Race on Sky last night. Exactly what you'd expect really, Jason Statham and things blowing up. Mindless entertainment but it was worth a watch, if not exactly something you should go out of your way to see. Very much looking forward to seeing Inglorious Basterds again this thursday, and District 9 and Funny People over the bank holiday weekend.

And noisey little fuck cunt wankers ruin the whole fucking film. I'd rather wait and download the film or by the DVD, sit back in the comfort of my own home, lights off, volume up and just enjoy it. Big TV helps too. I have to wait for the films (unless a screener or R5 retail download is available) but at least I can enjoy it.

However, sometimes the cinema trip just has to be done. I'd love to kidy myself and say that my TV and a good sound system recreate the cinema experience but it simply isn't true. Some movies are meant to be blared at volumes you could never legally use in your house and on a screen the size of a building. Inglorious Basterds has some showpiece aural and visual moments that make it one of those films. I would urge you to bite the bullet and go and see it on the big screen. It's an 18 too, so pick a weird showtime at a particularly pedantic cinema and you'll cut out at least some of the annoying kid factor. Edited August 24, 2009 by JLM

I'll be honest, I called the twist at the beginning but only as a faint hope of what I thought would be a good movie and never expected them to come through with it and not in the way they idd. Thought there were some plotholes at first but if you think about it they start to make sense and the film shows itself to be very clever. I'll be honest, I called the twist at the beginning but only as a faint hope of what I thought would be a good movie and never expected them to come through with it and not in the way they idd. Thought there were some plotholes at first but if you think about it they start to make sense and the film shows itself to be very clever. Wishy there had been a bit more with Cale and Cleo but good film nonetheless. One of my favourite films of 2009 Invert everything said here and that's my opinion of the film, hopefully being more trusted than the one of this poster otherwise a lot of people are in for a disappointment.

I actually bent the rules not so long ago (one month today to be exact). My son wanted to watch Harry Potter and as me and his mum were flying off on our honeymoon without him 2 days later I felt abliged to take him. I wanted to see it too, but I would have waited. Inglorious Basterds is purely for me, so the rules must be obeyed.
