Was I right in reading that United's recruitment plan for the last couple of summers was to recruit all attackers last year, all midfielders this year, and defenders next? What kind of strategy is that? Surely you recruit in the areas you most need it? What a stupid, hilarious football club.

You may have read that, but it's not the truth. Just a lazy deduction that a million outlets have jumped to based on the way the last two summer windows eventually played out.

They did buy all midfielders this summer and all forwards last summer, from what I can see on Transfermarkt though?

Yeah, that's how the windows played out, as I said.

I think things will start to go United's way again when they move into that mental new stadium that looks like a water level from Sonic the Hedgehog.

I'm trying to remember if there's ever been another club where the fans hated two sets of owners at the same time.

And now Bruno the Rat has turned on Carrick. Marvellous.

Spurs fans would separate Daniel Levy and ENIC, and hate both despite Daniel Levy working for ENIC. I mean it's marginally been different since he left, but no one will ever convince me that Levy was sitting there making the decisions while the Lewis family didn't know what was going on, its their money!

Before that we hated Alan Sugar, and before that we hated Irving Scholar. It's a positive club.

To be fair, there's plenty to hate Sugar for outside of football anyway.

I can't shake the feeling that United's been turned into Spurs In The North. Slowly, it's being turned into (if it hasn't reached there already) a banter club.

Another decent result today. Didn't expect anything against Wrexham. I have a feeling this is a case of "get as many points as possible before it all goes tits up and we end up in free fall" than any real promotion push, though.

Also really happy with the Burnley manager's unique approach to getting them out of the Championship.

Tottenham away, ole ole.

About time we went there and took the absolute piss. Only the third win there in my entire life, which is pathetic really isn't it?

That was very, very enjoyable. Mathys Tel, I take it all back.

He'd only had 14 games in charge. Must not have figured out his best players yet.

The championship is a very difficult league due to the potential fixture congestion, how competitive the teams are. To have never managed in England before and get thrown into the Championship is a heck of a baptism of fire. Rovers/Burnley banter aside he needed more time. Bloody hell, if chairmen back in the 80s had this kind of mentality Alex Ferguson would never have had the time he did at United. Who's going to want that job now? They get Scott Parker back? Owen Coyne?

With the players they had they'd have been climbing back up the table as soon as it'd clicked for him. They'd probably have been in with a shout of the playoffs. Unfortunately this is how football clubs tend to be run nowadays. It's not like Venky's have ever done the same with Blackburn managers.

Leicester should be bossing League 1 with the players they've got. But if the manager is playing a style, the players can't get on board with, you've got no chance.

Cole Palmer has got to be one of the thickest footballers around. Emotional intelligence of a dish rag.

Spurs improving was inevitable with the absolute (and in some cases necessary) lorry full of cash they dropped in the summer. Mixed bag of new players, but some definite improvement's in their floor there overall. Be interesting to see if they can get on a consistent run now, could definitely see them back in the European places if they can.

Although of course, a bright run followed by a De Zerbi flounce and a slump still doesn't feel out of the question, but that's more about his temperament and track record than anything.

Always funny to see Chelsea have a mare, though so that's fun. Still, Spurs were good value for that result I reckon.

Thought Arsenal looked good yesterday, need more creativity up top, and Tszolis coming back in the next few weeks should help knit that together. Joint top without feeling like we're really fully at top form is nice, although I'd like to see us get a bit closer to it sooner rather than later.
