Just remembered when I was 16 my birthday gift was a ticket to WWA in Sheffield, great memories but couple of things immortalized in my mind. First was our own UKFF favorite, The Cheese and Onion Warrior himself, Gangrel. We were sat near the front so when Gangrel did his spitting blood spot some landed on my dad. Turns to me and says " Dirty fucker, he better not have AIDS😤😤🤯. And also his burial of Disco Inferno, who for some reason decided to put on a hard hat and debut a new move, " The Village People's Elbow" . Dad again, blankly looks at me and mutters " Who is this twat!!!

My Dad was an absolute cunt all round. I couldn't tell you a single positive thing he did for or with me throughout my entire childhood right up until I was old enough to leave.

Then I've spent the last 20 plus years of my life with zero contact whatsoever with him.

He would always tell me wrestling was fake and "gay" - not even when I was a teenager (whilst still clearly unacceptable homophobia, I could at least accept him telling me it was pre determined if I reached 13 and hadn't figured it out) but more around the age of me being 6 or 7.

My Mum tried her best and would have had a lot going on between dealing with that twat, 3 kids and working as well but she never took an interest in nor encouraged any of my hobbies or interests, least of all wrestling.

My Nan's boyfriend Pete however - what a guy. When I was a kid his face would light up as he told me stories of Jackie Pallo, Catweazle, Kendo Nagasaki, Mick McManus etc.

My Nanny on the other side had a WWF annual waiting for me on one visit when I was maybe 6 and I read it cover to cover. I remember her loving The British Bulldog and watching WCW Worldwide on TV with me.

Happy memories.

My Nana loved the Ultimate Warrior. She had a signed photo of the lunatic in a neon green picture frame that took pride and place on top of the TV, next to Grandad.

The only memory I have of my Nan and watching wrestling was when she stayed at ours for a while when I was a kid, I clearly remember I had King Of The Ring 94 on and she just kept going “Look at his hair! Look at his hair!” whenever Jeff Jarrett came on the screen. She definitely had a crush on J-E-Double F, even though Art Donovan on commentary should’ve been more her type given her age.

One of the few wrestlers my dad knows is Rey Mysterio, but he always (with a very straight face) refers to him as Raymond Mysterio.  I'm not sure if he is taking the piss or not.

It was my uncle who got me into WWF around 1991 I want to say - I think Mania 7 was the first one I saw not long after it happened, then went back to WM6 and the other yearly PPVs on tape. I'm not sure which VHS it was, but my uncle got me one with the Bret Hart shades as a gift, what a winner. My dad was away a lot as a lorry driver, so before this time I only saw wrestling on ITV with his own dad, I definitely remember watching WCW and World of Sport but couldn't tell you which years that was.

My dad had seen bits and bobs of the classic early 90s characters and gravitated towards the likes of the Undertaker, Roddy Piper, and the Bushwhackers (don't we all), but loved pointing out when something looked shite. But he started to see a lot more around 2002/2003 when he was home a bit more and we got more Sky channels.

And he acknowledged the athleticism at that time as being from a different planet. Dad was fully on board with the SmackDown Six and Brock Lesnar, couldn't believe the stuff Rey Mysterio was doing, and could see Kurt Angle was both a machine and hilarious. He enjoyed people taking the piss and being silly, and you got that with the likes of Eddie and Edge too. I wish I was able to show him some Orange Cassidy shenanigans, he'd have been right down my dad's street.

Mum fancies Randy Orton, mostly.

I remember my mam bursting into tears because I knew Ric bladed at survivor series 2005 and she thought I lost my mind because the blood was bright red. She loved protecting kayfabe.

My grandad used to go and watch the wrestling in the 60's and 70's and would fondly tell me about having a pint with The Great Tojo AKA Harold Sakata AKA Oddjob after a match at Herringthorpe Leisure Centre in Rotherham.

When I started watching WWF in the early 90's as a kid he'd watch my tapes with me, talk about World Of Sport and Big Daddy. His favourites were always the cruisers though. He'd pop big time for Mysterio and Kidman on late 90's WCW. He fucking HATED the big lads- the man couldn't stand Kronik or The Outsiders.

I remember as a kid after every PPV my Dad would come home and be like "Alright mate, who won the wrestling last night?" and I'd be like "well, there was lots of matches for different titles so there were loads of different winners" and he'd stare at my blankly and confused until I would go "Er...The Rock won" and he'd nod and leave the room.
