I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a predictions thread, and on the back of last year’s, I thought I’d see if we can improve our hit/miss ratio for the coming 12-months…here are mine:

* AEW will finally main event a PPV with a women’s match

* The 2026 Royal Rumble will be one of the most low-effort, boring affairs in recent memory.

* The Rock won’t make an appearance for WWE this year - and, outside of Wrestlemania, neither will John Cena.

* AJ Styles will wrestle at least one match in TNA.

* AEW will run a women’s version of the Continental Classic, and Bozilla will take part in it.

* AEW will sign Bayley (assuming her contract expires at the end of the year as is rumoured)

* WWE will sign Chris Jericho, Anna Jay, Danhausen, Leon Slater and - potentially - Dr Britt Baker.

* Gunther will defeat AJ Styles to retire him, then lose to Brock Lesnar when he retires.

The WWE will embrace sponsorship and advertising so much that actual wrestling will only be played in 90 second chunks between the adverts on the PLE's.

Netflix, disappointed by it's reaction, will instead of adding WWE product actually start taking it off

Wrestlemania will, other than the name and size of the crowd, be a huge nothing of an event that will probably be eclipsed by another PLE in the year.

Due to the stupidity of the masses, WWE will hit record profits for an event in the UK due to the astronomical prices they'll charge for tickets - and that people will buy!

And just to prove I'm not really a pessimistic, miserable bastard - there will be good news in that the WWE Vault on Youtube will continue to crank out amazing, rare and unseen footage that will keep us all happy for hours.

Darby Allin will take time off to go into space.

Upon his return from space Darby Allin will team with Sting's lad to win the AEW tag team titles.

Gabe Kidd will be the new leader of the Death Riders and will beat Kenny Omega in Kenny's retirement match.

Sami Zayn will be denied entry into the USA because Homeland Security will flag his visa.

The main event of Wrestlemania will be Brock Lesnar pinning Cody in a squash because that's what the Saudi's want.

Triple H will be on TV more than Bron Breakker.

Incredibly, no. To be completely honest, I think that it’s more likely than not that another year passes without this happening. It’s crazy that Jake Hager has been in two AEW PPV main events, while Toni Storm has main evented precisely none. The same is obviously true for every other female wrestler, but I’m picking her just to emphasise that even the griftiest grifter couldn’t claim it was tokenism, she’s one of the hottest acts in the company if not the hottest act.

Admittedly I've not kept up even with AEW's results but that they haven't even done Toni Storm vs Mercedes Mone in a main event is astonishing.

There have been ample opportunities to do it, even dating back to Shida vs Britt Baker, or Britt Baker vs Thunder Rosa, both of which felt like big deals at the time.

More recently, the Hollywood Ending (May vs Storm) seemed like such an obvious show-closer - the match even finished with the words ‘the end’ - and it wrapped up a very strong story between the two. Toni Storm is arguably the best babyface champion AEW has ever had, yet her excellent title run ended part-way through a show in a ten(ish) minute four-way match. It’s insane, how many opportunities have been missed with that superb roster.

My guess is the only reason the Hollywood Ending didn't main event was because they knew Mariah May was immediately off to WWE and didn't want the "AEW main event star goes to WWE" headlines. It absolutely should have main evented though.

Any other show Storm vs Mercedes would have been a brilliant main event but Hangman vs Mox was on that show and was the deserving and right main event.

Considering how dire the main event scene is right now with MJF back on top it feels like the perfect time to give the women a PPV main event spotlight.

Aew introduce the Mid Atlantic championship

Aew introduces the Pacific northwest championship

Aew introduces the Tri state championship

Aew introduces the UK championship

(None of these have any specific rules or anything to differentiate them)

I genuinely expect them to introduce secondary tag titles at some point.

If they really must introduce new titles, I wish they’d do it in a way that adds something new and exciting to the show - a Super Heavyweight/‘Meat’ title maybe, mixed gender tag belts or an Under 25s title, to create a division of young, up-and-coming talent - something, anything that isn’t simply ‘here’s a new title, enjoy!’

Regarding AEW having too many belts, the Continental title does have the Continental Rules thing which slightly sets it apart from the other secondary titles. The problem is it doesn't really mean much;

Outside interference is strictly prohibited - in kayfabe terms, shouldn't this be the case for all standard matches?

20 minute time limit - who cares?

Nobody allowed at ringside - Same as outside interference really.

I wouldn't mind if they stole the ROH Pure title rulebook for the Continental title, or at least a variation of it.

Then you're still left with the International, National and TNT titles being pretty much exactly the same, so yeah - they've got too many belts. The National title being defended in other promotions isn't a good enough reason for it to exist, especially when that was the whole point of the International title in the first place!

Also how many times has Ricochet defended it in other promotions since winning it?

My prediction is that the hardcore WWE fanbase will have completely turned on Triple H by the end of the year. Booing him every time he turns up.
