Paid Members LaGoosh Posted March 23 Paid Members Posted March 23 Collision was clearly an incredibly half-arsed show this week due to the split over two nights thing but a few things: - Thekla cut a hilarious promo where she claimed Toni Storm deliberately injured herself so she wouldn't have to face her. Thekla is really great. Long may she reign! - Julia Hart was never the best wrestler but seemed to be improving. However since coming back from injury she has been really bad. I doubt she's getting enough reps in to improve as she should. Skye Blue is having to hold the whole thing together herself. - Thekla should seperate from the Sisters of Sin. She doesn't need them and would be better without them. - The Brawling Birds theme is awful. - The Brawling Birds characters are a bit messy because they are cocky and annoying while also being babyfaces. However they look great and watching them beat the shit out of people is a real pleasure. A work in progress but something special there if they can find it. Quote

I didn’t notice that! They have made reference to him being a lawyer before (Frank Mortos, Attorney At Law comes to mind) but they never made enough of it, much like when they teased a romance angle with Harley Cameron for one match and everyone got excited and then it was never mentioned again. They could be doing a lot more with Beast than the occasional go-nowhere LFI match on Collision. Quote

Assuming she's under contract as she seems to hang around a lot with the GYV but replacing Julia with Isla Dawn and having her and Skye as Thekla's back up or at least a tag team seems like a better use of both (think she used to do a White Witch gimmick if you want a spookie connection unless i'm mixing her up with someone else). She could probably do alright solo but it gives whoever's challenger her a line to work through and some ways to still come out on top without losing clean, have some tag and trios to keep things going etc. Quote

This has been an issue with quite a few of their newer talent, you'd think they would have shipped Hook off to do 6 months at Butlins or something like that, but according to Cagematch he's only worked 98 matches in total, lots of them being squashes, and what looks like only 1 indie date a couple of months ago. Likewise with Julia, she's only working the matches you see on TV and nothing else aside from an EVE match and a quick trip to CMLL. No wonder certain people are getting stuck, they're either being handcuffed by the office or don't have the ambition to try and improve outside of TV. Quote

AEW talent are free to take indie bookings so if they're not doing them that's on them. I don't know why the company doesn't form some official partnerships with certain indies they trust to get their younger talent regular reps to improve. On the subject of Hook - I wish he'd fuck off! Yeah, I don’t understand that either - I would never have predicted that WWE would do that kind of thing first, with Omos in NOAH and AAA, NXT wrestlers in TNA etc. I know AEW wrestlers can work the indies, but it seems like a no-brainer, to send wrestlers you’re not using or have high hopes for to specific destinations to see if they can build a name for themselves. I can’t see many downsides to doing that. Quote
