Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 Wonder if and it'll take a long way to get there, but if they could get Death Riders or DCF to turn then that could be an interesting dynamic Quote

Feuds with The Hurt Syndicate and The Don Callis Family definitely interest me. I love me some Kyle Fletcher but he shouldn't be facing Hangman for the title just yet. They should be spending the next 9-12 months building him up to be the one to take the title from him. Quote
Tim Healys Chutney Spoon Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 One thing I still am amazed at about Fletcher. Just 3yrs ago hes opening All In Zero Hour, admittedly as part of a bigger fued/story, but he looked ok then and did show glimpses of being able to move up, but to see where he is now compared to then is amazing. Even though hes a heel, I find it hard to dislike him, but I dont think he'd be that good as a face. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted September 4, 2025 Paid Members Posted September 4, 2025 If I'm fantasy booking those two factions, Kyle Fletcher continues to dominate as TNT Champion, and Takeshita gradually turns face; I assume part of the reason the Family has grown so large is to put a ton of roadblocks in his path en route to a match with Okada. I'm willing to put aside my usual disdain for champions challenging for other belts and say that match should be Okada as Unified Champion vs. Takeshita as IWGP Champion, and they could even go from there to Takeshita as double Champion vs. Fletcher as TNT Champion. They're clearly building to Hangman & Omega vs Young Bucks 2, though with the Bucks vaguely Don Callis-aligned, I can see versions of that with Takeshita and Ibushi, and Okada and Fletcher, added into the mix on their respective sides. I think the Death Riders need to start falling apart after All Out. The way I fantasy book it is that they either walk out on or explicitly attack Moxley after he loses to Darby Allin, and Eddie Kingston returns to run them off, but refuses to side with Moxley - he should be furious at Mox for siding with Claudio and Gabe Kidd, if nothing else. They can then feud, embrace after their final match, and that would turn Moxley face and, by forming a tag team with Eddie, it would keep him away from the World Title picture too. Marina can spin off into whatever's going on with Statlander, Claudio can have a crisis of self as he figures out who he is outside of the Death Riders (given that he's been part of that group or the Blackpool Combat Club for his entire time in AEW), and I've said elsewhere that Wheeler Yuta should become a kind of cross between Kylo Ren and weird Tumblr teenagers obsessed with the Columbine shooters, but for Moxley - thinking that he's the super dark and intimidating second coming of this big evil and dangerous villain, but really just being a tragic weirdo that nobody respects. I can’t remember his name. He’s probably a huge deal in ROH and we’re meant to know him already. He's popped up a few times in ROH, but never to the extent that it seemed like they had any big plans for him. Him getting involved in this FTR angle has come out of nowhere even to us sad ROHeads. He's really good though, I love watching him work. Thought this was another strong Dynamite even if they should maybe tone down on the 'heel faction puts someone on a stretcher' business for a few months. Just really good action all over the show from top to bottom. Brodido are just fantastic aren't they? Maybe my favourite act on the whole roster right now. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted September 5, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted September 5, 2025 I think the guy in the pull apart brawl getting involved stuff was cool. I don't think that's an angle that's ever been done before? I'd like to see more of JD Drake - he's really good. Brodido are fantastic, yes. Putting the tag titles on them when they're red hot was a great move and something AEW has failed to do in the past. They often wait just a bit too long to strike while the iron is hot. Quote

I watched a promo segment featuring Alex Priest and JD Drake from ROH TV on YouTube to get an idea as to how good Priest was, but it was Drake who stood out to me. He’s very good on the mic. Every time I’ve seen him wrestle, I’ve been impressed - he’d offers something different and at the very least I’d like to see more of him in the tag division. With the right partner, he could be fantastic but unfortunately I don’t think that run could or should come as part of The Workhorsemen. Heck, maybe that partner should be Priest, who knows? Infinity Land Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Adam Priest in isolation was pretty easy to follow. He and JD Drake had a competitive match against FTR on Collision. He's part of the pull apart brawl with FTR and C&C. It gets feisty between Priest and Dax where it's explained on commentary Priest wrestled FTR last Saturday. Where I was a little lost was during Collision. I've seen JD Drake team with Anthony Henry as the Workhorsemen, a guy that made a couple appearances called BEEF and the Wingmen run. Never seen him team with Adam Priest, but apparently he's in the Workhorsemen now. After the pull apart brawl I could see Priest v. Dax on Collision since JD Drake wasn't involved. But we're not getting that, we're getting FTR v. Adam Priest and...Tom Billington. Quote

If they can find a place for him he'd be a good addition to the main roster. They've got a fair few guys in the ROH forgotten zone which are a lot of fun but they just don't have anywhere worthwhile to put them and tell some meaningful. Bring back Dark! Quote

Or maybe they’ll have an upset win thanks to E&C, and continue on as a permanent team. I’ve no idea if Billington is any good, though. Quote

Infinity Land Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 I didn't watch Death Before Dishonor but I've now seen some clips of ROH tv. Seeing the Premier Athletes and Serpentico, you could have told me this was a 2022 taping at Universal Studios and i'd believe you. I hope they don't go back to the 2300 arena. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted September 6, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted September 6, 2025 I enjoyed Dynamite this week but they've also recently fallen into the "predictably good but also not must see" trap. Most the stuff going on is fun to watch in isolation and you're guaranteed decent matches and promos but it's also getting a bit samey and predictable. There's not really many big stories going on at the moment and I'd argue the biggest one (Cope and Christian reunion) hasn't been presented in a way to give it the gravitas it deserves. They really need to start booking some top week to week stories for the main stars. We're only a couple of weeks away from All Out and I have no idea what the card is going to be and that's not great. A lot of it feels a bit aimless right now. I'm not trying to be doom and gloom here. The shows are fun and there's lots of bright spots at the moment. But as usual with AEW as good as it is it's not as good as it should be. They need to tighten up the main stories for the top stars, pick a few fresh faces for big pushes and put more effort into making sure the big stuff lands with the impact it should be. Quote

At least they have directions he can go, I just hope they pick one soon. Quote
