I went through the majority of the Wrestlemania mode, and have had a few exhibitions, but it’s just a bit samey, floaty and boring. Fuck knows what that MyFaction thing is though. Confusing, stressful mess. I’ve never felt older than trying to get my head around that. Must be what my parents feel like trying to work an iPhone. Pretty much echoes my feelings on the game. That WrestleMania mode was just repetitive: do a spot, then sit around whilst it goes to a video montage with Corey Graves jabbering on over the top. I’ve not event tried MyFaction, as I have no clue what it actually is. Cards are involved, but don’t know if it’s just loot box crap or what. Quote

Yeah like FIFA UT you can do it without investing any cash but if you want to LOOT you can. Difference is UT has a lot of different modes and tasks whereas MyFaction from my experience is just do matches pretty much Quote
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted October 8, 2024 Awards Moderator Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) Downloaded this last week via PS Plus. I really like it! If you don’t count Battlegrounds (and nobody should) I haven’t played a WWE game since the one with Austin on the cover, and this one feels so much better than that did. Controls are fairly easy to get the hang of, the graphics are great, and I love how many match types you can choose from - I’ve tried a War Games, an eight man MITB, a Royal Rumble, a Backstage Brawl, and one that was the Casino Gauntlet in all but name. If I can find some decent CAWs of the AEW roster to download, I can’t see myself going back to Fight Forever. It’s no WWE All Stars, obviously, but then what is? Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted October 13, 2024 Awards Moderator Posted October 13, 2024 The blurring in that Showcase mode is something else. I can understand blurring Schiavone or Trump even... But Hebner? Joey Marella? Fink? Licensing is a strange business. The game plays fine. It's slow and ponderous but does a decent job of a canned WWE match. Quote

It's slow and ponderous but does a decent job of a canned WWE match. I decided to give this another go as I was house-sitting, and the folks had a PS5. Decided to actually see what “MyFaction” was about. After going through dozens and dozens of tutorial prompts, finally got to being able to pick a match. So did the “Proving Grounds” mode which looks a bit like “Kombat Towers” where you play one match after another, and hit a few objectives. Did the first couple of Singles matches alright, but the Triple Threat match? No word of a lie, I must have tried the match about 15 times before giving up. Hit detection is completely bonkers. Stood next to your opponent? Strike/grapple fails. They’re half-way across the ring? No matter, the game clamps you together when they initiate a move. Reversals are broken. I’m absolutely adamant I was pressing Triangle when the icon flashed, and even began anticipating the window for moves, but they never seemed to register. I even lost a match by pinfall despite the on-screen graphic saying Circle was rope break, and pressing Circle. It did nothing, and they got the 3-count. Every other match, one of the other two pinned the other. Every time I was hit with a move, the game made my character automatically roll out of the ring, and then languish there for an entirety, whilst they seem to get up seconds after being hit with a move. I then found a bug. Because I had been trying to beat this match for so long, the controller died. So I put it on charge and picked up a second one. After connecting with the second controller, the game does not recognise any input from it, so you have to re-launch it. Fantastic. So yeah, just find gameplay to be a complete clunky mess and completely joyless to be honest. Gone are the days when the SmackDown! games were actually fun to play. Those days seem to be long gone unfortunately. Quote

I've become slightly obsessed with the blurring and what the logic of it is - Trump is blurred out when he's sat in the front row, but Stu Hart isn't, so I assume that's separate to a licensing issue and more just not wanting to draw attention to Donald Trump being there, and that people shown in the audience are seen as fair game. Or maybe Bret gets royalties for Stu and Helen's appearance? Referees being blurred out is presumably because this is the first game in a while that does include real referees, so there's going to be a royalties issue there - if Rod Zapata gets royalties for his appearance in the game, then Earl Hebner would if they show him. But then there's weird bits - Gene Okerlund is blurred out in interview segments, but Dok Hendrix isn't blurred for the Austin 3:16 promo, so is Michael Hayes getting royalty payments for this game? Jim Ross is blurred out in Showcase mode, which makes sense in terms of royalties and in terms of now showing someone who works for the opposition, but there's at least one instance of Tazz being on commentary and not getting blurred out. The Spanish announce team don't ever seem to be blurred out, but I don't see Hugo raking in the royalties. Edited October 14, 2024 by BomberPat Quote

So any instance of the cover of WrestleMania 23 on the website or email marketing either had a strategically placed sticker over his fizzog or blacking out his silhouette. I guess this is similar, that Trump has some sort of brand management involved that demand a fee for each replication of his delightful features. Quote
Eddie Posted January 12, 2025 Posted January 12, 2025 I quite like wwe2k series the only criticisms I have of the 2k24 is 1. that in many story bouts you can not counter certain moves no matter how beat up your opponant is, 2 not enough space for images for custom superstars there is. and finally 3. Too many items to unlock by having to specifically pull precise moves for wrestlers, attires ect and cannot access community created wrestles without these unlocks, frustrating more than enjoyable.
