The end of WWE releases on physical media?

Sorry if this has been posted already and for bumping the thread (seemed the best place to put it - what happened to the general info thread anyway?)

Seems WWE Home Video is still alive here in the UK with this soon to be released gem:

https://wwedvd.co.uk/wrestling/summerslam-1992-30th-anniversary-edition-blu-ray/

Shame they'll probably miss a trick and not make it a deluxe package with some of the build-ups to the matches from TV shows, extra interviews, the general media newsreports and press conferences they did surrounding the show - and maybe if it exists, the presentations they did to the legends on the night. Whole treasure trove of stuff they could do.

But hey buy this Blu-ray if you want to or not!

OSW Review offered to send WWE UK Home video their Summerslam 92 episode to use as a bonus feature on this, and it looks like it might be happening. Somebody there is definitely a fan.

Is it just the match (well, the PPV) on Blu-ray or will it also have extras like a little documentary or something so Bret can do a talking head detailing all the crack Davey Boy did prior to the match?

Thirty years ago, WWE brought the biggest party of the summer to the UK! Now, thirty years later, relive the epic classic event, remastered for the first time on DVD & Blu-ray!

Bret “Hit Man” Hart defends the Intercontinental Championship against the British Bulldog. Shawn Michaels faces Rick Martel. Legion of Doom battle Money Inc. in tag team action. Ultimate Warrior challenges “Macho Man” Randy Savage for the WWE Championship. The Natural Disasters defend the WWE Tag Team Championship and more.

Featuring a host of Bonus Extras from the time, this legendary event is now available to own on DVD & Blu-ray to watch over-and-over again!

Thanks.

That is very vague. Will it have HD footage of that guy saying Bulldog was going to win, wheather he likes it or not? If not, I am not buying it.

Nah, I was never going to buy it.

Would they have been allowed to any way? They can claim Fair Use when putting it on YouTube, but if it’s going on something that’s being sold at retail they’d have to get legal clearance for various things

They struggle so much getting their videos onto YouTube, even claiming fair use. This is why they try to stay away from covering New Japan. People keep asking them to cover more AEW, but given how precious they can get about people using their footage it's tricky for them to do that as well. They snuck the most recent episode onto Patreon a couple of weeks ago, but it still doesn't seem to have been cleared for general YouTube release yet.

What's the quality going to be like on Blu? What's the original source material?

At a guess, I’d say a Beta SP, I suppose by dint of bring in the UK it may have been shot in PAL rather than NTSC, which would get you a bit of extra vertical resolution. They’ll probably upscale and stick it through a noise reducer. I doubt they shot anything on film due to cost, but you never know.
