I loved Red at the time, but he really doesn't look anywhere near WWE ready here. I think this was the era when his knees are really starting to bother him and he doesn't have that same spring in his step, but he does nothing to stand out as an extraordinary talent. 

I realise that some of that will be the way WWE instructed people having tryouts to wrestle (keep it basic, don't do anything to detract from the actual superstars on the main show) but he comes across as a small, slightly sloppy indie guy and not the 'next Rey Mysterio' or anything like it.

Just three of the greatest, most lovely guys the industry has ever seen hanging out together. 

Love it, hate it or just think it's a smokescreen aberration in a still horrendous industry I don't think anybody sums of the notion that wrestlers are more relatable, likeable people now more than the New Day. The true Jackass of WWE. Tough guys on an out-and-out bromance trip who have no problem using every trick in the book to look ridiculous. I know comparing the full eras and the context they took place in is a little more complex, but I watched this after TH14 uploaded a DX timeline from 98 and it's a no contest. Engaging, heartwarming stuff versus absolute knob-complex shite. 

I know they've gotten their flowers plenty but watching this back's made me realise they were really the kings of what was a rancid final-years-of-Vince era, even if I don't think they escaped that era's panache for over-featuring acts to the point of tedium. 

I'm pretty sure it even felt at the time circa 2014-2019 or so that the torture was only happening in neverending realtime so that one day at least some cool compilations could be stitched together from it, and here we are.

Big E barely able to get his silly joke out because he's started corpsing at the thought of his idea and poor Xavier Woods in that moment where you are laughing so hard it's physically hurting you. Great two minutes of just people unable to contain themselves.

Finally got round to giving it a watch. I've long held a fondness for this event as it was the first PPV I watched all the way through at the time it was shown (albeit a few days delay I think on SKY). Yes the Undertaker debut is historic, yes it is packed full of some of the biggest and most iconic names - but bugger me the wrestling is awful.

They've also cut out Hart's silent 'FUCK!' after he's pinned. Shame they left in the part of tje clearly not connecting punches from Animal in the opener.

They always talked about how good Kurt looked after weeks, if not days of training. I believe he signed his WWE developmental deal this month, so this must have been the latter. Amazing that he's able to have such a competent match after that little time when he didn't grow up a fan of the business (and probably still had some 'shooter' instincts in him from his amateur days).

He was helping out at the camp scouting as he was working in that role at the time and Jim Ross etc were used in both on and off screen capacity at the time.
