It's remarkable how much it's been censored for the Switch release. I missed the special edition with Maximum Bondage as the bonus character as well. Did you get the ps4 version?

Merzbow
Yeah there's a lot of censorship on the Switch, I know all the drug references in Needy Streamer Overload are changed and probably a bit more than that. Not a game I'd actually recommend to many but I've enjoyed my mess about on the Steam version recently, very edgy and very very dark at times. Paid Members BigJag Posted June 27 Paid Members Share Posted June 27 (edited) https://esportsworldcup.com/en/competition/games-and-tournaments This event is a few days away. Anyone keeping an eye on it? Most of the games on that list I have either never played or have very limited experience/knowledge of. Tekken 8 is one I've played a fair bit. Edited June 27 by BigJag
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted June 27 Paid Members Share Posted June 27 Is Peggle in it?
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted June 27 Paid Members Share Posted June 27 I was about to ask where they're getting the money from, but I see it's taking place in Saudi Arabia so that answers that. It could be interesting to watch. There are a few decent players in that Street Fighter 6 lineup. I'm surprised they're not having a KOF XV tournament given that SNK is Saudi owned.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted June 27 Paid Members Share Posted June 27 I finished the Adventure Mode on Plants vs Zombies and the puzzles (fuck those endless ones though, man) but I cannot do that Zombotany mini-game at all. Nor the harder survival ones. But I shall persevere, at least until I get all my achievements. In a massive departure from playing Peggle (I'm still playing Peggle), I started playing Peglin. Here's the thing. It's been so long since I played games to any serious degree that in that time there are genres and names of genres for games that weren't around when I was last properly gaming. So I've no idea what a roguelike is and this game hasn't taught me much except it's vaguely RPG-esque. And I hate RPGs. I am learning though and this game is ok? Can't beat the second boss, I''ve died five times to it now and as it's a perma-death game (another term I've learned - that's what all games used to be!) that's quite annoying. I'm not sure the Peggle-esque way of accumulating strength really works for this a battle game as it's quite reliant on luck. I like it enough that I keep going back to it though, but I wouldn't be surprised if I bin it off and move on to one of the (73) other games I've got in my Steam library. Most of which don't include hitting pegs, honest.
Paid Members Jesse Posted June 27 Paid Members Share Posted June 27 Perma-death is basically the core of a 'roguelike'. You're intended to play 'runs' rather than progress linearly, either gaining power over time through unlocks/collectibles (Hades, Rogue Legacy) or through meta-knowledge of the game (Rogue, Blue Prince - the game I am currently obsessed with). There's usually some element of randomness or procedural generation to it, so that no two runs are ever identical. Binding of Isaac was the big one for a while, the current roguelike du jour is Balatro which is fantastic. You start with a deck of cards and your goal is to make poker hands to score points, with the ability to collect jokers that modify your playstyle in some way (score, money, etc.) and to build your deck out with extra cards or extra effects. It's the perfect 'this meeting is boring, and I want something to keep myself occupied' game.

I've always been rubbish at SF. I enjoy Tekken, but not that great at it. The production can be a bit haphazard as well. It'll be interesting to see how they make this World Cup attractive to the viewers. This Gran Turismo thing may be more my thing.

I have noticed there seems to be a wider range of stuff available as I go on but whether I'll have the patience to persevere remains to be seen. Good to be learning the sorts of things I'll like and not like though.

Paid Members gmoney Posted June 27 Paid Members Share Posted June 27 (edited) My favourite rogue-like is Rogue Legacy, You play a knight and their descendants trying to beat all the bosses in a randomly generated castle. Each time you die, you play as your heir, with an inherited trait that will have a bonus or a negative effect. So you might have gigantism (you're massive and strong) or be colour blind (everything is in black and white), or you'll have hypochondria (when you lose health it shows you losing thousands of HP), or a million other fun and sometimes funny things. Very addictive. There's a sequel I've never played, must get around to that soon. Edited June 27 by gmoney

I never bothered with the sequel but I heard that’s good too.
Paid Members Jesse Posted June 27 Paid Members Share Posted June 27 I'm gonna use this opportunity to pitch Blue Prince, which has a demo available but no confirmed release date yet:Â https://store.steampowered.com/app/1569580/Blue_Prince/ Effectively, you inherit a mansion that changes layout every day, so each run is a new day as you build out the floorplan. Every time you open a door you get to pick one of three rooms, each have their own layout and contents. The main goal is figure out how to unlock a hidden final room, with a bigger narrative story behind it as you discover emails, books, notes, photos etc that gives you the story of this fmaily and the world you're in. There are layers of meta-progression, unlocking new areas on the grounds that give you bonuses or things that help you progress, and almost every puzzle is knowledge-based. The loop of the game is generally looking for rooms you haven't seen before to get knowledge that points you in the direction of a larger puzzle solution, then focusing on solving that puzzle so you can use it in future days. A group chat I'm in all got early access because we're massive nerds and it's consumed our chat. Sending screenshots back and forth, filling pages of our notebooks with info or guesses at puzzle solutions etc. I think it's really good, and if it seems like it'd be your kind of thing the demo has a lot of the early experience in it so should give you an idea of if you'll like the whole game.
