Review embargo is up for the Ocarina of Time Remake on Switch 2.

Surprise surprise...its a well reviewed game!

Currently 96/100 on Metacritic after 80 reviews.

I cant wait to play this with my daughter for the first time, I really hope she at least comes close to feeling the same sense of wonder that I did when i first played it.

@FLipsyou're absolutely right. The first one randomly played while I was watching and autoplaying fighting game videos on YouTube and it was fascinating, so has then found its way into my algorithm but that's no excuse. I find them interesting from a machine learning point of view, but again that shouldn't be any justification for watching these kinds of things.

Sorry Jazzy I wasn’t trying to make you feel guilty or anything! Just fuckin hate AI.

Anyway Happy Zelda day everyone. I already had the last couple weeks booked off for our wedding anniversary so me and the wife are currently bunkered in playing through the Deku Tree after a quick snack run this morning. I’m in my cosy armchair, the fireplace is on, life is good.

Oh I know, but your point is entirely valid.

Aside from the 16bit renditions of wrestler themes those games have zero positive elements to them, truly awful and even my child brain knew it at the time.

That was my thought when I watched the video too. It's a fun concept and I enjoyed the outcome but having played almost every one of those games, they were all shit!

I got around 30 mins last night on Zelda and it’s beautiful. Such a lovely aesthetic and silky, silky smooth.

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but the way the camera responds is so snappy and satisfying. Big fan already.

We’re a few dungeons in but so far my favourite thing has been to follow the flow of water from the entrance to Kakariko up to the well. Such a pretty game.

I'm still to receive my copy, but I can't wait to get going with it. Every review has made me feel more and more excited, and seeing people on here love it has only amplified that.

The reviews making me feel like I have completely fucked it by committing to finishing Resonance first.

How're you finding Resonance?

I am only around 10 hours in but I am really enjoying it. I think its an extremely welcome piece of Final Fantasy fan service.

The art is fantastic and unlocking new characters is always exciting - gives you that feeling of opening a packet of cards in a way.

Any advice for games that aren’t scary. I’m a bit of a wuss so Resident Evil and anything first person proper stresses me out (must be my Autism).

But I’ve found games have helped me escape but all the decent ones seem to be on the Switch. I have a PS5 and have loved Astrobot, Rachet & Clank, the Spiderman games, Infamous, Lost in Play, Psychonauts probably one of my favourite ever games.

Ive seen Crash Bandicoot recommended but it looks more like a linear Sonic game to me. And I tried Sackboy but don’t know why but just didn’t like him. I think I like having some decent powers.

Any recommendations for some PS5 games, which aren’t gonna be too dark or real would be very much welcome.

You're possibly revealing your young age a bit here, as to a certain generation of us, Crash Bandicoot is pretty iconic! The Crash Bandicoot collection is well worth your money though, it's cheap these days and CB2 and 3 have aged very well, in my opinion.

Anyway, some other recommendations for you...

Spyro Reignited Trilogy

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRYQzNbRF5kju6nbRXAQ1RCXtq5Y_4LlGs8inezKtzHfCkiwnUSt15q9HY&s=10

If you're not enormously familiar with Crash, I imagine you're not particularly familiar with another unofficial Playstation mascot in Spyro the Dragon. The Spyro trilogy has remakes of the original 3 Spyro games, it's cheap and is on PS5. I suspect you'd enjoy it.

A Hat in Time

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTxJkPfquvQfkC_N1grM4wSDb7Y8DyGqI97SwjCnhR7XMXTijXetG5t37vV&s=10

One of the most creative non-Nintendo platformers I've played. Every level is different, with different activities and themes - in one you're investigating a murder mystery, another is a bit more horror-themed (which I know you're not keen on - but it's more Disney horror than anything too traumatising). Again, this is pretty cheap these days so I'd recommend giving it a try.

Rayman Legends

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRwVpledl1RPe6oTRlU263EsArkIzPuUGCZ-nRCWU2Ae2iJgaD5wKLFB3I&s=10

A remake is out next month, but honestly, although there's extra content it feels like one of the more unnecessary remakes - Legends is cheap these days, although it's a 2D platformer it's incredibly creative and fun, with beautiful visuals and a great soundtrack. Some of the levels are pretty tough, but there's great fun to be had here.

Yooka Replaylee

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQwsKbmu1SH51tGEH6HE3FxEYMWb-C1t4JxBPSx_onNkqZ8vfB_nr-L8KY&s=10

The original Yooka Laylee was a flawed game, but this fixes all of the issues of the original, adding several major improvements that just make it a blast to play through. The missions are varied, the characters are fun to control and it looks lovely too.

New Super Lucky's Tale

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR02hVPLqhESx1-IFH7eHHcPoJtB54ldDxTZvMkPvQsifeuvswfurJN4GU&s=10

Talking of games that were fixed, New Super Lucky's Tale is an improved version of the frankly broken Super Lucky's Tale. Essentially, it's the same game but fixed. And fuck, it's great. It's very reminiscent of a Gamecube-era platformer, and it's cheery, silly fun. I loved it.

Mr Sleepy Man

images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQmHFQxtpt6NdlQE07U-0zOd1vUsZ9-S-UH3f_ojRn9vmWXHJx6EE9urCU&s=10

Another one that feels plucked right out of the Gamecube-era. It has a very strange sense of humour - a bit Rick and Morty-esque - and it's one of the weirder games that I'm recommending, but once again, it's just a whole load of fun. I absolutely breezed through it and was left wanting more in the best possible way. It's creative and very enjoyable. And it was made by one person!

Seconded on A Hat in Time especially. A game that I took a bit of time to get into but was rewarded every time I played it. One of the best things I've ever played.
