Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 17, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted August 17, 2020 (edited) So he’s either done with fighting or he’s gearing up for a proper go at a move up to Heavyweight. And I doubt he’s done. I don’t really like the idea of Jones vs Ngannou right now. That would just eliminate an interesting challenger for Stipe and if there’s any division that really can’t afford that it’s Heavyweight. I’d do Miocic vs Jones and just pay Ngannou to sit out and wait for the winner. Edited August 17, 2020 by wandshogun09

Paid Members Carbomb Posted August 18, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted August 18, 2020 Well, he's certainly got a better chance of getting back in the game at a threadbare 205 than he would in any of the lighter divisions. That said, if he hasn't filled the holes in his game, or at least mitigated them somehow, he's probably not going to get far beyond where his puncher's chance takes him. Sort of a Rampage 2.0. Rumblage.
Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted August 18, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted August 18, 2020 (edited) I think Rumble does well on paper at 205 with Jones being gone. He got found out massively against DC twice but it doesn't feel like any of the current top 205'ers have the wrestling chops that DC had to nullify him. With Jones gone, it's a strikers division. Rumble has above average wrestling himself and we all know he hits like a truck. Seems a good time for him to come back.   Edited August 18, 2020 by Silky Kisser
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 18, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted August 18, 2020 yeh if Rumble comes back right i'd fancy his chances against the winner of Jan/Reyes.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted August 18, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted August 18, 2020 (edited) All very true; like I say, if there's any division for him to make his comeback in, it's 205, not only because it's clearly his ideal weight but because it's so thin at the moment. But in the "styles make fights" vein, I wouldn't fancy his chances against someone like Krylov, or even OSP, and unless White decides to allow him to leapfrog his way back into contention after being out three years, I'd imagine he'd have to face them, or someone like them, at some point. EDIT: Hell, with the shape the HW division's in, he'd probably do OK there; he'd probably be outgunned by Ngannou, but surely not by too much. Paid Members WeeAl Posted August 18, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted August 18, 2020 That's a sensible fight for both men there I think. Maybe they'll have a gentleman's agreement to another draw and do it a third time as well.

David
Now that's an Anderson fight I can get behind. Should be a decent little special attraction bout with two guys who know how to throw leather in cool fashion.
