jimufctna24
Liddell's bread and butter was his takedown defence. When he trained properly in his prime, he was near-impossible to takedown. His decline late on in his career was more due to his chin cracking, and getting hit more. As others have said, Chael isn't much of a power puncher. If Wanderlei can drop him, I would presume that Chuck has a chance of doing the same. On paper, it's a style match-up that is very favourable for Chuck. Prime vs Prime, there would only be one winner. As it stands in 2017, it could very well be a pick-em fight.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 24, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted August 24, 2017 sneaky Bellator show tomorrow night, of course nobody is paying any attention to it but it has enough on it to merit a look once the Mayweather/McGregor hoopla is over. Andrey Koreshkov vs. Chidi Njokuani Brennan Ward vs. Fernando Gonzales A.J. McKee vs. Blair Tugman Veta Arteaga vs. Bruna Ellen the undercard actually has some quality Bellator veterans on them too, i may have to track them down too. MMAJunkie's article will break it down any better than i could, so here's five reasons to watch: http://mmajunkie.com/2017/08/bellator-182-5-reasons-andrey-koreshkov-chidi-njokuani-under-maymac-radar
David
Brennan Ward is always worth watching. This'll do me in the hours leading up to the big fight on Saturday.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 25, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted August 25, 2017 yeh Ward is the man, he's got a willing dance partner too so it should be fireworks.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 20, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted September 20, 2017 an absolute doozy of a Bellator card on Saturday night... Main Card: Benson Henderson vs. Patricky Pitbull Paul Daley vs. Lorenz Larkin Roy Nelson vs. Javy Ayala Goiti Yamauchi vs. Adam Piccolotti Aaron Pico vs. Justin Linn Lots to like here. Benson is looking to do the double over the Pitbull Brothers in the main event. Daley/Larkin is a bit of a strikers dream match, Big Country's debut, Yamauchi taken on an undefeated prospect and the return of Aaron Pico after one of the most disastrous debuts in MMA history. There is a prelim portion but the interesting thing about the rest of the show is latest Bellator Kickboxing installment...Joe Schilling, Kevin Ross, Raymond Daniels and Malaipet all fighting, im hope we get to see it. The kickboxing portions of these shows have been a little harder to get hold of than the MMA portions. The show will also feature some kind of WWE style cage lowering system so the cage and ring can both be used in the same place rather than having a ring and cage sitting next to each other like they've done previously. Magnum Milano
There was a time I used to be all over this stuff and had zero idea Nelson was with Bellator now. What was the score with him? Was it one of those deals where his contract expired and UFC wouldn't match what Bellator offered? The top three fights all look good so I'll make the effort to try and catch this. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 21, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted September 21, 2017 yeh pretty much, Bellator probably threw him some decent money and he moved over. Should be a fun fight, Ayala's coming in off the back of wrecking Sergei Kharitanov. I do worry that Nelson's gonna come in in worse shape than usual though. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted September 21, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted September 21, 2017 For some reason I had it in my head that Daley vs Larkin was in October. Bonus that it's this week. That's easily the fight I'm most looking forward to this weekend. Should be fireworks.
Really Big Shoe
Had no idea Big Country jumped to Bellator either. This will be on Spike next Saturday at 10pm.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted September 25, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted September 25, 2017 Daley's left hook, man.
thevestofdeanambrose
That Aaron Pico left hand wasn't half bad either!
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 27, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted September 27, 2017 cracking show until a bit of a damp squid main event. It's a shame because although it was a poor fight it really did need the extra 2 rounds. I thought Benson won it though, no other fighter has had so many close call decisions as Benson surely? The Pico left hand was better than the Daley won for me, but both absolute gems. Pico himself almost came unstuck again, he was going hell for leather for a finish and got clipped with some hard shots. Still, great prospect! Ayala/Nelson had a real good heavyweight fight too. Ayala made a proper fan out of me, the big lad can move. He was tuning Nelson up on the feet. If Bellator go down the route of doing a Heavyweight Grand Prix i wouldn't mind seeing this one again. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 6, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 6, 2017 this snuck up on me... didn't even realise this was happening tonight. The main event is one of the best fights Bellator has to offer and doesn't really deserve to be flying under the radar. It's a real striker vs. grappler fight. Caldwell's buzz cooled off after suffering a quick flash loss but he's back on track, guys a beast.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 16, 2017 Author Paid Members Share Posted October 16, 2017 Caught up on Bellator, Caldwell is the new champ. It wasn't a classic but it was an intriguing 5 rounder. For all Dantas experience you'd have thought he'd have found a way to be more effective but he spent the majority of the fight trying to walk Caldwell down on the feet, he did more walking than punching/kicking though and would either end up pinned against the cage or would let Caldwell get off with strikes of his own. Caldwell won all 5 rounds on 1 judges card and 48-47 on two others. It wasn't the kind of performance that declares Caldwell to be one of the best 135lb'ers on earth but it was a great example of sticking to a gameplan to win a decision. FOTN easily was Straus/Sanchez. If you like grappling based MMA fights you'll love this. Both guys going for shit and trying to win the fight rather than holding position. I had £10 on Straus to win so i lost out but this was a real good fight. I always had Emmanuel Sanchez down as a bit part player at Featherweight who always had good fights but he's becoming a contender. 185 is this weekend... Gegard Mousasi vs. Alexander Shlemenko Dave Rickles vs. Brennan Ward Heather Hardy vs. Kristina Williams Neiman Gracie vs. Javier Torres Lisa Blaine vs. Ana Julaton Mo/McGeary dropped off which harms the card but it's a bit of a dream main event for me. Mousasi is a huge get for Bellator and to have fight Shlemenko is the kind of fight that always looked great on paper but they always fought in different places. Rickles/Ward is violence. I think Ward has too much explosiveness and Rickles has a tendency to get hit so i see a big Ward KO here. Gotta be worth tuning in for Rickles entrance alone though. I could really have done without two women's fights on the main card but im interest in seeing Heather Hardy fight again, the specialist type women fighters crossing into MMA are the only ones i really have any interest in seeing these days.
