jimufctna24
Horiguchi vs Kai 2 was only confirmed in the early hours of this morning.Ā As for Anderson, I am glad to hear that Coker and co are not interested in signing him. Bellator have relied too much onĀ nostalgia actsĀ over the years. I don't mind the odd Fedor or Cyborg fight, but I am happy they parted ways with Nelson and Mir, and I hope they don't use Manhoef and Rampage again. If those lot want to fight elsewhere, possibly in Rizin,Ā One, or one of those daftĀ Bareknuckle promotions, then fine, go nuts. But I would rather they not clog up Bellator's main cards in 2020. Bellator have recently invested in a lot of young talent from England, Eastern Europe and the LFA promotion in the US. I would much rather those fighters feature on Bellator's main cards instead.Ā 3 minutes ago, Egg Shen said: i dont know if Bellator has any association with Rizin anymore. Horiguchi obviously vacated his belt, and with Covid i cant see anyone going over for New Years. Last I heard, Bellator's door is still open toĀ Horiguchi.Ā In an ideal world, he sparks Asakura on NYE and then fights Archuleta in Bellator next year.Ā
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted November 13, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted November 13, 2020 Hey, Iām not saying I want Anderson Silva in Bellator. Iād still prefer him over Corey Anderson though. Even in 2020. I donāt care that thereās more future in Corey if that future is full of nothingness and boredom. I wish Mighty Mouse would sign withĀ Bellator, or end up back in the UFC, something. Heās wasted on ONE for me. They have some alright shows but a guy like DJ deserves more than 7 people watching him. Plus DJ vs Figgy or Horiguchi again would piss over whatever ONEās got for him.Ā
Paid Members Carbomb Posted November 13, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted November 13, 2020 I did some reading about the Asakura/Horiguchi thing - I didn't know their fight was non-title! It seems Asakura's most recent fight was non-title as well. Seems an odd thing for a promotion to do. Makes sense for pro-wrestling, as there's only a story to push, plus they have matches way more frequently than real fighters do, but in proper sporting competition? I don't see the point of it. It's a Japanese thing.Ā Gomi lost toĀ AurĆ©lio in Pride while LW Champion, but the fight was non-title, so he remained champion. A ton ofĀ Fedor's fights in Pride while he was recognised as their HW ChampionĀ were also non-title.Ā
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 13, 2020 Author Paid Members Share Posted November 13, 2020 ahh that Gomi/Aurelio fight was a massive upset at the time, that was when Gomi was on top of the world. Got the same kind of feeling when he lost as I did when Wanderlei lost to Arona.
jimufctna24
Fedor vs Werdum 2 is not happening now: Werdum: Quote Ā āI didnāt close the deal with Bellator because they wanted me to rematch Fedor Emelianenko in my first fight. I respect Fedor a lot. I canāt say he turned the fight down, but this negotiation with Fedor didnāt go through because of their side. Bellator wanted that to be the first fight to cause an impact, then we would close a deal for four or five more fights. āIāve also heard that Ali Abdelaziz (Werdumās manager) has been talking with the PFL and I might join their tournament. I donāt know if people know it that well in Brazil, but itās like a tournament. You enter, you fight four times and if you win those four fights, you win one million dollars, plus your purse. You win the purse thatās been previously established and the one million dollars. That made me pretty interested. Itās good, right?ā -Ā https://www.bloodyelbow.com/2020/11/13/21563179/43-year-old-fabricio-werdum-negotiating-with-pfl-sees-himself-fighting-two-more-years Ā Ā Edited November 14, 2020 by jimufctna24
jimufctna24
Coker on why he didn't sign Werdum: Quote Ā āHis goals and his desires were different than our goals and our desires,ā Coker told MMA Junkie after the Bellator 253 ceremonial weigh-ins at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. āIām happy for him. If we wanted him to be here and have a fight with Fedor, we could do that. But thatās really probably the only fight that weād be interested in. I think he was looking at a longer-term deal ā multi-year, multi-fight. āIf you look at our roster and the fighters that weāre signing and the direction of the company (and) where itās headed with the bluechip prospects and building the next crop and buying some free agents like Corey Anderson and sprinkling in some talent, I just think Fabricio has a better home there than he wouldāve here.ā-Ā -Ā https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2020/11/mma-news-scott-coker-why-bellator-turned-down-fabricio-werdum Ā Ā They have also parted ways with Rampage, thank fuck.Ā Edited November 19, 2020 by jimufctna24
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted November 19, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted November 19, 2020 Rampage fair dos. The state of him in that Fedor fight was embarrassing. I still think Werdum wouldāve been a nice addition to Bellatorās roster though. Heās older and not at his peak but heās still a quality Heavyweight and there arenāt many of them left who arenāt under UFC lock and key. And at the very least heād be a very credible win for these ābluechip prospectsā Cokerās on about. Iām all for building new guys and not relying on the past all the time but I think you can have a healthy balance. A roster full of onlyĀ next generation blue chippers isnāt the best IMO. Just like a roster full of nostalgia acts wouldnātĀ be.Ā And if youāre trying to establish new fighters, them beating already established names is one ofĀ the most effective ways toĀ do that and always has been. Itās not like Bellator has a HW divisionĀ thatās heaving with depth either. Werdum couldāve given it a little boost.Ā Iām guessing part of why Coker wasnāt into it was that Werdum was probably coming withĀ a higherĀ price than CokerĀ wanted to pay for multiple fights. A one-off against Fedor would be a different story as heād have only had to pay him once. I donāt blame either side for that. Coker isnāt going to commit to a long termĀ deal with a guy north of 40 whoĀ costs a pretty penny. And Werdum is understandably going to try to squeeze as much coin out of whoever he fights for now because heās got limited time left as an active fighter. Just think itās a bit of a shame they never came to terms.Ā

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 20, 2020 Author Paid Members Share Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) š ive recently started on it regular as much as i hate the Bellator announce team. The podcast is surprisingly unbiased considering its Bellators commentators doing it. Its a decent primer for the weekly show too. The rankings are needed though. Bellator's roster is developing into something abit special, it just needs a bit of structure. Seems to be fights for the sake of fights alot at the moment. A rankings system will probably not allow them to make mismatches for the top guys so much too...thinking of guys like MVP and Gallagher. jimufctna24
The line-up for next week's card. Other than Magomedov's debut, I am pretty indifferent to this one.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted November 30, 2020 Paid Members Share Posted November 30, 2020 Even with Ludvig Borga's daughter Jessica on it? (Although, looking at her and her opponent, I think wand would say "this match is brought to you by PornHub".) Champion/Law looks like it was just thrown together for the names. Still, a few undefeated prospects on there, a lot with nascent records. Fair fucks to Bellator to committing to pushing upcoming talent.Ā Magomed Magomedov vs. Mattheus Mattios (MaMa vs MaMa) does look like it could be interesting, though. Not the worst, it could draw me in (the main is actually quite intriguing), but not amazing either.
