So my friend and I were discussing this the other night, and if you had to pick 8 matches from every wrestler that ever lived, in their primes, in any type of match, what would your Ultimate Fantasy PPV be?

This is my initial draft, but it's so hard to decide! Yeah, mine is very WWF heavy - but that's what I grew up primarily watching:

1998 Steve Austin vs 1987 Hulk Hogan (Main Event)
1988 Randy Savage vs 1996 HBK
1982 Dynamite Kid vs 2007 Daniel Bryan
1995 Bret Hart vs 2002 Kurt Angle
1987 Steamboat vs 1990 Mr Perfect
1995 Eddie Guererro vs 2005 AJ Styles
2014 Ricochet vs 1995 Rey Mysterio
1990 Ultimate Warrior vs 2001 The Rock

Difficult because so many matches eventually happened. I'll have a go though. A small theme will develop.

Steve Austin vs. Goldberg (1998)

Imagine the moment these two go face to face in a packed house. Imagine it as a series? Austin on home turf at MSG. Goldberg at Georgia Dome and then a huge blow off somewhere big enough to host it. Hairs standing on end.

The Undertaker (2007) vs. Sting (1997)

Two of the most iconic, mysterious characters ever developed each representing a brand. This would be incredible.

Ric Flair (1986) vs. Hulk Hogan (1985)

This would blow the roof off anywhere in the mid 80's. Imagine it at the Superdome at WM3!! Flair would carry Hogan to something great and the crowd would eat up every one of Hogan's desperate expressions. The comeback would do more damage to the roof than the 30 years of neglect.

Bret Hart (1997) vs. Randy Savage (1989)

Nasty heel Bret vs. Randy in full Uncle Sam get up but with his 1989 working boots on. Absolutely mouth watering.

Shawn Michaels (1997) vs. The Rock (2000)

Probably the second biggest dream match never to happen. These two owuld have incredible chemistry I think.

Stone Cold (1998) v Hulk Hogan (1985)

The ultimate dream match I think between the 2 biggest moneymakers in the history of the business. Wouldn't be pretty but it would be an event

The Rock (2000) v Ric Flair (1987)

Think they only ever met in that handicap match at WMXX and at their peaks this would be a great match and the promos would be damn entertaining too

John Cena (2013) v Bret Hart (1997)

All American boy Cena v America hating Hart would be epic and possibly a show stealer in regards of snowflakes

CM Punk (2012) v Kurt Angle (2001)

Pure workrate match think Id have Angle as the aggressive ankle snapping heel and Punk as his babyface BITW character

Macho King w/Sherri (1990) v AJ Styles (2015)

Coked up crazy Macho King and Queen Sherri just doing their thing and AJ just being AJ of the last year. Awesome

Undertaker (2007) v Shawn Michaels (1997)

These 2 never disappoint and just create magic when in the ring together. Could possibly even make it a Hell in the Cell match

HHH (2000) v Samoa Joe (2005)

Dunno how I would describe this match but its both at their peaks and it couldn't be anything but brilliant

For the last match Im gonna cheat and make a crazy six man just to squeeze some guys on

Daniel Bryan (2013) , Rey Mysterio (1997) and RvD (2001) v Eddie Guererro (2003) , Edge (2006) and Chris Jericho (2001)

All that talent couldnt help but have a great match and come up with some cool spots

Interesting topic..

Road Warriors (late80's) vs Powers of Pain (before split) vs Demolition (Ax and Smash)

Always wanted to see how that panned out

Mark Henry (2011?) vs Andre The Giant (1980ish, Original Hogan feud)

Two Big People kicking crap out of each other

Mr Perfect (1990) vs CM Punk (2011)

Ravishing Rick Rude (1988) vs Steve Austin (1992)

Ric Flair (1985) vs Daniel Bryan (2011) vs Ricky Steamboat (1989)

Ultimate Warrior (1990) vs John Cena (2012)

That will do :)

Their 1997 Badd Blood match is my favourite match of all time. And their 2 Mania matches are classic - especially the first one.

I'll be honest, I never really give "two guys from different times" much thought. Maybe it's lack of imagination, but I always get more fun out of thinking about the matches that didn't happen at a given point in time, thinking about how good those wrestlers were simultaneously and the match they COULD have had, but didn't, because they worked for different companies or whatever. I reigned it in a bit, but I think these are probably the matches I would most loved to have seen on that basis :

Steve Austin VS Bill Goldberg (1998)

Kurt Angle VS Kenta Kobashi (2003)

Shawn Michaels VS Randy Savage (1996)

Bret Hart VS Sting (1992)

The Undertaker VS Cactus Jack (1995)

Ricky Steamboat VS Mr Perfect (1989)

Chris Benoit VS Bryan Danielson (2004)

A.J. Styles & Chris Daniels VS Naomichi Marufuji & KENTA (2005)

But I suppose I could have a think and do 8 matches from respective primes. Or at least, particular times, if not especially their actual primes. Some of these, the years are only rough guides to when I'd pluck the wrestlers from.

Kurt Angle (2001) VS Kenta Kobashi (1997)

- So, I've changed the dates to approximates to "prime years" but this is still the match I most wish I could have seen, either way.

Bill Goldberg (1998) VS Brock Lesnar (2015)

- Yeah, this match actually happened, but I would have loved to have seen what the WCW Goldberg against what Brock has turned into would have been like. Short and brutal, I imagine.

Bret Hart (1994) VS Randy Savage (1989)

- OK, this match also happened at several times, but their primes did not really coincide. I would have loved to have seen confident babyface Hitman wrestle psychotic heel Macho Man from 1989-91.

Sting (1997) VS Shawn Michaels (1997)

- Technically I could have also have taken this for the above card, but I get a kick out of thinking what it would have been like with the silent, stoic Sting with crow/bat lurking in the rafters, brooding away at the possibility of giving a good kicking to the juvenile, obnoxious, crotch-chopping DX HBK.

John Cena (2010) VS Big Van Vader (1992)

- Cena works so so well against someone that is prepared to be 100% heel with no interest in getting support from the crowd, and who genuinely provides an obstacle that seems too beastly for him to topple. I can't think of anyone more fitting to pair with Cena than "the Mastodon" at his best.

Steve Austin (1998) VS CM Punk (2012)

- I can't think of a build more fascinating than the anarchic beer-drinking hellraising "rattlesnake" that defined the Attitude Era, against the smug, Straight-Edge "best in the world" Heyman-led shitheel version of Chicago Made Punk.

Samoa Joe (2004) VS Cactus Jack (1992)

- The guy whose bulldozer style was effectively "hit it until it dies" against the guy that always refused to die.

1-2-3 Kid (1994) VS Shinsuke Nakamura (2015)

- This might seem a bit out there, but my favourite Kid matches were where he faced an insurmountable challenge that you couldn't see him overcoming and then gradually he makes you think he might win, and my favourite Shinsuke matches are where he wrestles a Naito or Ibushi that basically plays Kid to his insurmountable challenge. So fuck it, I think they'd create a belter.

Fuck me, my top 8 doesn't have Tanahashi or AJ Styles in it. Shocking.

Bugsey - Rock and Flair had a one on one match on RAW in 2002, during that month Rock was champion. I think they set up Rock vs Eddie Guerrero at the end of it - or it could have been the other way round.

I have absolutely no recollection of that. Its quite possible it happened though, still think in their primes it would be great to see

So fuck it, I think they'd create a belter.

Those 2 matches sound fucking amazing for totally different reasons. Now i wish I could see them  :dickin:

Steve Austin v Goldberg 1998

In 1998, it was the match everybody wanted. Two big bad bald bastards going at it.

Daniel Bryan v Brock Lesnar

Outside of a couple of Sting matches, it's the only realistic dream match I think is left in WWE. How can this not be a classic? It's an easy story to tell too and both men are perfect for the roles that are required - the big beast v ultimate underdog that never quits. It's a shame we may not get it because Lesnar is leaving.

John Cena v AJ Styles

You can make a strong case that both are the best about right now. Like above, it's impossible to think it won't be great.

Scott Steiner 1999 v Mark Henry 2013

Great promos followed by these two knocking fuck out of each other.

Bad Influence v E&C v Beer Money v Hart Foundation

Sting v The Rock

The Rock is supposedly a huge Real Estate Steve mark and like Goldberg v Austin it's has a proper big time company v company feel to it. The Rock and Sting can trade shit Sharpshooters for 20 minutes.

Hulk Hogan (1987) vs John Cena (2013)

The ultimate battle of the good guys.

Rock & Sock Connection (1999) vs Edge & Christian (2000)

This one would be as much for the build-up as the match itself, but everything about it should be cracking.

The Shield (2014) vs Hart Foundation (1997)

Reigns, Ambrose and Rollins. Bret, Owen and Bulldog. Two of the greatest factions ever. You could also go with Outlaws & X-Pac vs the heel version of the Shield.

Daniel Bryan (2014) vs Shawn Michaels (2009)

The student vs teacher battle they teased us with but never delivered.

Undertaker (2001/02) vs Santino Marella (2007)

Santino talks himself into a battering from the big dog. A PPV can't just be full of main event workrate and spectacle, it needs variety.

Ultimate Warrior (1990) vs Matt Hardy v1.0 (2002)

Although I have used the Big Star Squashes Comedy Loser match twice now.

Lita (2000) vs AJ Lee (2014)

Hopefully Lita does that dodgy moonsault and maims the fucker.

Highlight Reel with Stone Cold Steve Austin

Austin ends up giving Jericho a hiding and doing a beer bash. Commentator CM Punk then blindsides Austin, setting up their match at the next one of my spectacular PPVs.

Hell In A Cell- John Cena (2007) vs. Undertaker (2007)

It's mad to me that the two biggest stars of the last ten years haven't met in a marquee match. Undertaker fell into his match of the year form around 2007, where he had the amazing Rumble sequence with Michaels and the ridiculously good Batista match at Wrestlemania. And John Cena was great at the time as well, especially in gimmick matches, with the last man standing match with Umaga and the TLC with Edge a few months prior. This would be bloody and brutal, with all the main event spectacle you could imagine.

Brock Lesnar (2015) vs. Chris Jericho (2008)

Basically, because they're my two favourite wrestlers and I've always wanted to see this. After much deliberation and chopping and changing time periods, I'm setting Lesnar as the indestructible monster face he was at the Royal Rumble, against suit-wearing, feud of the year antagonist Chris Jericho. Lesnar chucks Jericho around a ton to give him his comeuppance, Jericho gains the upper hand at certain points through underhanded yet intelligent shenanigans.

Miz TV with Batista (2014)

One movie star to another, Miz wants to chat to Big Dave following his success in Guardians of the Galaxy. The Rock (2003) interrupts to a big pop- let's be real, he was really a face during that run- and clears the ring of both men. He then pulls out his guitar from under the ring- just... okay? and has an impromptu Rock Concert where he disses both guys.

Kurt Angle (2003) vs. Daniel Bryan (2013)

Because technical wrestling is awesome!!!111

Shawn Michaels (2005) vs. Seth Rollins (2015)

Because high flying is awesomer. Spesh with wrestling skill involved.

Trish Stratus (2006) vs. Paige (2014)

Trish worked great with Mickie and Lita, and Paige has a kind of lesbian goth thing going, so yeah. Plus, my 2006 crush vs. my 2014 crush.

Sami Zayn (2014) vs. Umaga (2007)

Zayn takes a beating better than anyone today, and no one dished it out like Umaga.

Mean Street Posse Segment

On this, the greatest supercard of all time, the Posse have used their connection to Shane O Mac to get on the show and brag about how great they were as legends of the industry. This continues with heavy emphasis on the word "legend", until Randy Orton's (2014) music hits. RKOs (outta nowhere) for the Posse, and a Punt for Pete Gas. Enraged, Shane O- the host of the show- runs around backstage frantically looking around for wrestlers he can send out to stop Orton. Shane O (2001) comes out on stage and declares Orton is in a 10 on 1 gauntlet match.

Competitor 1 is John Morrison (2009). Superkick by Morrison, then springboard into a RKO. Done. Competitor 2 is Sin Cara (2011). Trampoline-assisted RKO. Done. Competitor 3 is Super Crazy (2006). Slides into the ring with the trademark flip over into the RKO. Ciao. Competitor 4 is Evan Bourne (2010). Soon after, Shooting Star into the RKO. See ya. Rob Van Dam (2010) is next. He enters the ring, and instead of attacking, does his thumb pointing. Rob-Van-RKO. Shane O is visibly disgusted by the lack of competition."This is shocking!" he exclaims on the mic. This brings out the Shockmaster (1993), who enters the ring only for his helmet to fall off. He reaches down to pick it up and- RKO. "Come on, I need some champions out here!" yelled Shane. Cue Patterson & Brisco (2000), who step into the ring smiling, wave to the crowd, then double RKO. DDP (2015) is back to reclaim his move. But first, some yoga stretches. Downward facing dog into the RKO. Orton grabs a mic and says, "Looks like you don't have a leg to stand on, Shane!" With that, Zach Gowen's (2003) music hits. Gowen takes his prosthetic leg off and hops into the RKO. But, Orton doesn't pin! He grabs Gowen's fake leg and Punts him with it for the 3 count. Yeah, I'm a prick.

The Shield (2014) vs. The Hardyz (2000, hence the "z") & Rey Mysterio (2002)

The Shield deserve a spot on any PPV card, they basically carried in-ring action in WWE for two years. The Hardyz were at their high octane best at the dawn of the new millenium, and Rey was amazing when he first debuted and his knees weren't glass.

Austin (1998) vs Hogan (1989)

The atmosphere for this match would be insane, easily the main event I would want for my ultimate ppv.

Bikini Contest (which morphs into a battle royal) with a load of divas

Obviously the piss break match, but serves a purpose if you have the DVD, don't own porn and your internet is down.

Cena (2013) vs Undertaker (2013) - (Takers streak on the line)

Still kinda annoyed we never got to see the build up for this one.

Batista (2005) vs Rock (2000) - Number 1 contenders match

I was going to shoehorn The Rock as the special referee in the main, though this makes far more sense. Should be a fun match.

Santino, Mick Foley & Eugene vs Triple H & Randy Orton

A come down match which also should have some funny moments.

Brock Lesnar (2014) vs Ken Shamrock (1998) - No DQ

The baddest man on the planet title on the line. I was legitimately afraid of Shamrock back in 98.

Edge & Christian (2000) vs The Rockers (1989)

No stipulation needed really, should just be a good match really.

Angle (2003) vs Bret Hart (1994)

Just a good technical match, like Angle vs Benoit just with less murderers.

(Side note. My friends and I in our infinite coolness would have a snake draft and choose 10 wrestlers to make a five card event with a Main, Semi Main (usually I.C.), gimmick match, tag match and another singles. And try and make an actual structured card. The draft aspect makes it pretty fun. So maybe if that happens here like 8 people can draft their wrestlers and try to make the best card and have a poll for the forum to see whose is the best... To add to the sadness, we used to decide on draw ability, funness of the card, how good the matches would be, structure. And would rate the each match out of 10 and the card overall. Yep... About as sad as you can get. Bloody fun though!)
