Paid Members Duke Posted January 30, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2014 D'angelo dinero's "Catholifunk". Fun to listen to. Fun to say.
Magnum
I think mention should be made of Christian Cage's rip-off of his WWE theme. It was still pretty good - made him sound big-time. Â Yep, I'm on board with this one - did a good job of making him look like a big deal for a couple of years, along with the warm-up suit and entourage. Maybe not quite as good as the first version of 'Just Close Your Eyes', but miles better than the second.
Paid Members garynysmon Posted January 30, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2014 I really enjoyed A.J's last TNA theme but have never taken to his "I am iam's" music as it was far too nu-metal. Marevlous Me is just a treat for the ears. Â His first was easily the rest. "Born and raised in the USA, Born and raised in the USA....." gold76
The aforementioned Catholifunk is great.. Â Another favourite of mine is "serious" face Eric Young's 2010 theme, when he was feuding with the band (for a couple of weeks)
FireBrand
Oh I also loved The British Invasion theme as well, Magnus should have just stolen that one.
Sphinx
Surprised we've got this far without a mention of Matt Morgan's theme. It's really, really bad, but at the same time I can't really picture him coming out to anything else. Â YOU HAVE AWAKEN A SLEEPING GIANT, BEWARE! Â I liked Alex Shelley's theme, though it was quite generic. Triple X's was pretty laughable but catchy. Jeff Jarrett's My World theme made me turn off or walk away. Your entrance song must do your head in hearing it so often, but I think I'd have been close to suicide having his. And not the masked wrestler either. Â Morgan's theme was extraordinary for the fact that the vocalist was out of tune. It was really painful. Â What happened to Matt anyway? Back in WWE? Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 30, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2014 Someone mentioned Foley's rap theme - I can't say I remember it. The rock one that started with "Bang-bang!" was pretty decent, I thought. Suited him perfectly.
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted January 30, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2014 Morgan's really was up/down there at X-Factor level wasn't it? I forgot all about his one! Merciful hour...
pgi86
What happened to Matt anyway? His wife got pregnant with their first child, Morgan decided he needed to start earning more money so he quit TNA (probably hoping he can get a WWE deal but that didn't happen), and then recently he got a full-time job out of wrestling. He has since claimed he would no longer pursue full-time employment in wrestling (i.e. WWE or TNA) and will just continue to take few indy bookings here and there, while working his full-time job. Has talked about completely retiring from wrestling too.
Magnum Milano
The first thing I thought of when I saw the thread was the Flying Elvises theme from way back when, but I had no idea what it was called. A little googling and then realise that the title of it is what Butch put in the sub-heading! Here it is: Â Dale Oliver - Flyin' to Graceland
Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 30, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted January 30, 2014 What a massive waste Morgan was, really. Had the look to be a mega-star, had a natural ease on the mike, had athletic calibre - and yet he just didn't seem to possess the know-how to make it all work. He didn't wrestle in accordance with his size until after he came back with the gold pants and the big beard (and even then he kept slipping), a lot of his promos felt forced and he just didn't seem comfortable with any character he had. He came across as a guy who was acting out a standard formula of how to get over, and not really getting all the bits you have to fill in in between. Â EDIT: Sorry, just realised I didn't explain why the above is relevant. Simply put, his entrance theme seemed to sum him up perfectly - had elements that should've made it memorable and distinctive, but was so ham-fistedly made and formulaic that it just ended up being a cacophonic mess that nobody liked or recognised, no matter how many times they heard it. Â Â RVD's was ridiculous, too. Absolutely awful - and yet it was easy to remember and get the crowd chanting along with it. So I suppose, in that respect, it was better than the vast majority of TNA themes.
Moderators PowerButchi Posted January 30, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted January 30, 2014 Old TNA music is best enjoyed with a powerpoint of the wrestlers name playing over the top of it on repeat. So cheap it was amazing.
