Is there anywhere to find a schedule for the BT Sports app? If that doesn't work I'm going to have to VPN fight pass, aren't I?

not anymore as the event WON'T be blacked out meaning it can be watched live on Fight Pass in the UK

I'm a Mir fan, so I'm happy he won. I wouldn't mind an Arlovski fight now, to be honest. Yes, it may strip Arlovski of momentum if that happens and I'll be fine if they just give Arlovski the shot straight away instead, but there's a story to the Mir fight. Arlovski was interim champ and then became undisputed champ when Mir had to vacate his first world title. A "I wanna prove I can beat the guy who was given my belt / I wanna prove I'm better and would have won anyway" story is pretty saleable in terms of two older heavyweights. Only if they're not gonna give Arlovski the shot though.

Todd Duffee makes me chuckle. Before this fight the thing I always remembered him most for was being knocked out hilariously by Mike Russow after three rounds of dominating him and looking really smug. I found it amusing to see him fail again. If he goes back to the drawing board, gets better and starts backing up the talk I'll have no problem with him, but yeah... it's always kinda fun to see someone cocky get knocked down a peg.

Tony Ferguson was really fun to watch, as was that Jouban/Dwyer fight...

I don't know if anyone else was unfortunate enough to watch that Rani Yahya fight though. Yahya won the fight but it was one of the most brutally boring performances I've ever seen. I was tired, admittedly, but I swear it popped up with a stat of something like 3 strikes landed in what seemed like 5-7 minutes of top control (as opposed to his opponents 103 in that same time). And it wasn't like he was really trying for submissions either. It was one of the few times in my life where I thought, "oh my god, UFC have to cut this guy even if he wins". Jon Fitch, for all the hate he got and his eventual release, peppered guys with shots. Most do. This was just the worst.

I don't suppose there's any chance they'd have Mir leapfrog the rankings to Werdum? I'd like to see a BJJ masterclass.

A bit off topic, but I was doing some reading on Mir's record, and the name Marcio Cruz comes up as his second ever loss. The guy seems to have had an impressive record, going 11-3, with some massive gaps between fights. But here's what I'm wondering: the guy came to the UFC, beating one of its top stars at the time, but then went 1-2 in the UFC, and was cut. Since leaving he's only lost once, so I guess the questions are 1) was 1-2 enough of a bad run to be cut in those days, or did he do something wrong? and 2) why hasn't he been asked back, as surely UFC scouts must be keeping an eye out for HWs with good records, given their apparent scarcity?

Ah, I see! Thanks very much for that, makes a lot of sense. A shame, really - whilst the HW division isn't in the worst state it could be, it could always do with more faces.

That was a fun card, that may have suffered from being in the aftermath of the behemoth that was 189.

Very impressed with Tony Ferguson as well as the guts shown by Josh Thompson and that Alan Jouban fight was a right laugh.

I thought Holly Holm improved from her first fight (which isn't saying much) but didn't really land a decent shot all fight despite lots of volume. Her offence seems too predictable and I think she needs to work on her combinations and setting up the big kicks with jabs (I know this was pointed out by the commentators but I was thinking that before they mentioned it - honest!).

Kevin Lee looks a prospect at 22.

The rest I could take or leave.

I thought Holm looked alright myself but she doesn't have a prayer against Rousey IMO. Not a fucking prayer. She's a great striker but I just don't think she possesses the power to make Rousey hesitant. On the ground she's obviously lightyears behind Ronda and I don't think she'd be able to keep it standing. If she had big KO power I'd give her a better shot but if she's going to play the Jackson's point striking game like she has her last two fights then I don't see any way she makes that work if she ever fights Rousey. And at 33/34 or whatever she is, it's not like she has loads of time to fill in the gaps in her game like say a Paige VanZant or Rose Namajunas.

Anyway fuck Mir's victory parade, this Glasgow show, who's everyone picking? What are you looking forward to?

I'm looking forward to all four fights on the main card actually. Bisping vs Leites should be excellent. Bisping's been a real marmite man personality wise but one thing about him is he's never really in dull fights (Kennedy blanketing him being the exception). And Leites is good enough at everything now that I can see this being a fun one wherever it goes.

Pearson vs Dunham is one of those fights that you can't imagine being crap. They're both very aggressive and tough as fuck.

Duffy vs Jorge could be good too. Hopefully Duffy shines again and gets a bigger name. If he wins this by stoppage I think he's ready for a decent step up on a bigger card.

And hopefully Calderwood rebounds from her shaky start to her UFC career and clobbers Bec Rawlings' pineapple head in. Seemed a bit of a twat as I recall on TUF and her and Calderwood have a bit of history.

It's a nice little show. Nothing bad on that main card.

Prediction wise I'm going...

Leites by decision

Pearson by TKO

Duffy by TKO

Calderwood by decision

Just got a feeling Leites is going to edge a close one. Won't be surprised whatever the result but I think Leites is looking pretty great right now and I'm not sure Bisping isn't on the decline. He looked good in his last fight but Dolloway's not any great shakes really himself is he?

Rawlings is out of that fight, if I recall. Courtney Casey(?) is the replacement, I think. Maybe I'm missing a name there. I remember thinking it had three parts to it. Anyway, I agree it'd be nice of Calderwood rebounds. That last performance, much as I want her to do well, was fairly shocking. As have the performances of many women from that TUF cast, really.

I think Bisping out points Leites thanks, once again, to his cardio and work rate. I wouldn't be gobsmacked if Bisping underrated Leites' striking, gets clipped and maybe stopped. But I doubt it. It'd take a stupid lapse in concentration, I think. (Edit - one minute or so after posting this I reckon a Bisping late stoppage rather than points).

Pearson/Dunham should be a cracker. Dunham was such a hot prospect and it kinda slipped away from him. Tough as he is, though, he's the kind of guy Ross wants to be putting away - or at least busting up a fair bit - if he wants to back up his outlandish "most powerful striker in the division" claims. I go with a Pearson decision after a back and forth fight.

Yeah, Calderwood is fighting Cortney Casey now. Don't know much about her. She is 4-1 heading into this one though. I really hope Calderwood can bounce back with a win and a good performance to match. Been a big fan for ages and im excited to finally get to see her fight live tomorrow.

Just back from weigh ins too. All the Brits & Irish got great receptions. Nothing really else to note tbh. Fun enough and can't wait for the fights tomorrow.

Ah that's right. I forgot all about Rawlings pulling out. You're right textonly, you missed a Sanchez out of Calderwood's opponent's name. Most places seem to list her as just Cortney Casey though.

Here's the final card, by the way...

jPGhC.jpg

FOX SPORTS 1 MAIN CARD

Michael Bisping vs Thales Leites

Ross Pearson vs Evan Dunham

Joseph Duffy vs Ivan Jorge

Joanne Calderwood vs Cortney Casey Sanchez

Leon Edwards vs Pawel Pawlak

Stevie Ray vs Leonardo Mafra

FOX SPORTS 1 PRELIMS

Paddy Holohan vs Vaughan Lee

Ilir Latifi vs Hans Stringer

Mickael Lebout vs Teemu Packalen

Robert Whiteford vs Paul Redmond

FIGHT PASS PRELIMS

Marcus Brimage vs Jimmie Rivera

Daniel Omielanczuk vs Chris De La Rocha

Six fight main card now. Glad we'll get Ray vs Mafra. Would've rathered see Holohan vs Lee than the Edwards vs Pawlak fight though. Bit shit that we're only getting the main card.

I like the card though. Some good stuff on there.

Anyone able to explain how sky can air the boxing tonight from 6pm. But by sounds of it UFC isn't allowed on till post watershed?

It looks like on Twitter people seem to think BT have lost interest but I get the feeling that's not exactly the case? Surely they'd have stopped Beyond The Octagon, airing all the prelims and build-up shows and done the absolute bare minimum if that was the case?
