Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted January 26, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted January 26, 2017 You're quite welcome - I'm really happy to have introduced another person to that album!
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 22, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted February 22, 2017 New Roc Marciano album is out. I've only listened to it once through, but it's really good. It's in full on YouTube if you want to check it out, it's called Rosebudd's revenge. Â Â Anyone heard anything good recently? Could really do with some new artists to listen to. Â I've been listening to the recent Tribe album a lot. It's great and all, but I really want that excitement of finding something new! Members SuperBacon
Nice, I'll check that out. Not much to report States wise recently, struggling myself for new things to listen to. I rediscovered J-Zone recently and enjoyed his Fish & Grits album. Â UK wise, think I mentioned it before but for me, the standout UK release of the last few years is Ocean Wisdom-Chaos 93. Leaf Dog from Four Owls has just released an excellent single-My Scene I've just discovered a guy called Trademark Blud who's new EP is produced by Micall Parknsun, and is a decent listen. And Klashnekoff has released a new single Hand on Heart which is pretty good too.
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 22, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted February 22, 2017 Cheers - I will check some of that UK stuff out, see if anything tickles my fancy!
Members SuperBacon
I'll countenance my post by saying a lot of what I posted is what I'd call serious hip hop, so for a bit of balance check out Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon-The Tonic EP from last year. In fact, everything they do is great. Pete recently uploaded some vids of him sampling/creating through an old Amiga which I'm sure you'd appreciate. I'll try and link them. Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 22, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted February 22, 2017 Oh. Well, full disclosure I'm not super into UK hip hop, main reason being that it's all too po faced, serious and maudlin. Â I'll still check the recommendation out though. I saw Parky & Trademark open for someone a while back and they were decent.
Members SuperBacon
Completely agree, I mean it's all I was into from age of 16-19, Jehst, Taskforce, Terra Firma etc and whilst I still love all those acts I have to balance it these days. Â Out of all of them Ocean Wisdoms the most interesting, and I'm not normally a fan of fast flow rappers, but he knows when to switch it up, and is a funny lad as well. Â But I know what you mean, a few UK tracks usually has me reaching for the Ugly Duckling and MC Paul Barman records
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 22, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted February 22, 2017 (edited) You prompted me to look up Paul Barman just now, and I see that he had another album in 2009. I'm gonna have to check that out..... Loved Paullelujah at the time, and he has done cool occasional guest spots over the years. Members SuperBacon
Anyone who rhymes "My pissed off jimbrowski turned 3 colours like Kristof Krislowski" when referring to his cock is OK in my book...
wordsfromlee
The new POS album is quite good. It's very weird but I like it. I am a massive POS fan boy though.  I have the new Lupe Fiasco album but haven't listened to it yet. I'm fully expecting it to be dog shit. Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted February 23, 2017 Author Moderators Share Posted February 23, 2017 New Planet Asia -
Undefeated Steak
I've been listening to a bit of Lupe again recently, wordsfromlee. Not heard all of his new album yet. His stuff is just so hit and miss, mostly miss, a bit like J Cole. Edited February 23, 2017 by Undefeated Steak
wordsfromlee
I absolutely adored Food & Liqour and The Cool but that Lasers album was awful and put me off listening to him again. He was supposed to release LupEND after The Cool as his last album but he we are four albums later.
Members SuperBacon
Love that new Planet Asia... Â Oh as well, Big Daddy Kane just announced at the Jazz Cafe on 10th of May!
Members SuperBacon
Posting on the go but just wanted to say that The Iceberg by Oddisee is utterly fantastic. Especially You Grew Up. Everyone listen and enjoy.
