US Election

The Four Horsemen

This is a pretty popular stance at the minute. I totally get what you're saying but, when I see this all up on twitter and facebook from Brits there is a definite vein of condescension towards Americans in the attitudes expressed. Not pointing the finger at you personally but I think collectively anyone with David Cameron as their leader really shouldn't have the gall to be smug about... well, anything politics related.

100% agree. Given the turnout for our own elections & the general level of knowledge on our own politics it seems pretty rich for Brits (as a collective) to be taking any high-ground with the Americans. Although they might vote in an abhorrent President at least they're voting and (in my experience) are seemingly better informed of what they're voting for than the people I'm surrounded by.

I can't help but agree with this. We voted in the poshest, toffest bunch of privileged bastards this country's had in charge for years at a time when the divide between rich and poor is rapidly expanding. We're just as idiotic as the Americans.

Likewise, I'm getting really hacked off with the yanks telling me who I should vote for in the PCC election for Manchester.

It's not a popular view but some sick side of me wants wars and rise in religious extremism.....shit like that make the world exciting (as long as I'm not involved in any of it).

I dunno I get a tingle in balls when I see carnage on the news and mass civil unrest. Maybe I should take this shit to the depression thread but I like to live in a world that's on the brink of destruction.

The results of the election are in:

Makes me laugh when people call Obama a socialist, he's so far from one its unbelievable. He talks of the state as 'family' thats's how an old school Republican would talk.

He's by far and away the best option, but this was always going to be close. You could have put a cup against Obama and a lot of American's would vote for that. A lot of people just do not like that the black guy won.

I think he'll just get it, but its a sad state that America even contemplates voting for Romney. A man who U Turns on everything to get favour.

It wasn't until I actually lived in the USA that I figured out exactly what British snobbery is. You hear it a lot, and I always waved it off assuming people were thinking we all walked around in top hats, but it is exactly that kind of attitude that is the snobbery. I hear it everytime I go back home, normally some mouth breathing Daily Mail reading idiot telling me how "them yanks is well dumb aint they though" and how "all they eat is junk food yeah" while stuffing a Gregg's pasty in their fat face.

Socialist and Communist are just words of hate in America, they're used to describe anyone with a view even slightly resembling the "left" side.

Famed political pundit Lemmy from Motorhead gives his opinion about the election...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/06/m..._n_2081646.html

Motorhead Frontman: Mitt Romney Is A 'F---ing Monster'

Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister called Mitt Romney a "monster."

Lemmy Kilmister, frontman of English rockband Motorhead, came out against Mitt Romney in a big way.

"Please, please don't vote for Mitt Romney," Kilmister said in an interview with Rolling Stone. "F--- him. Repeal abortion law is the first thing he'll do. F---ing monster."

Kilmister is known for being outspoken and brash, openly talking about everything from his sex life to his general disdain for politics across the board.

On Obama, the heavy metal rocker said, "I mean, the poor f---er's only just gotten rid of all that George Bush s--- that he left, or is trying to. And he's being stonewalled by the f---ing Congress all the time. I don't know how he's gotten anything done."

Today's election has received copious input from celebrities. Monday alone included endorsements from Melissa Joan Hart, Beyonce, Elizabeth Banks, and Jay-Z.

For more, head over to Rolling Stone.

Nothing to do with snobbery on my part I just don't want a twat like Romney running the most powerful nation in the World just like I didn't want a twat like Cameron running Britain.

As for Iran I honestly think we are heading for war with them regardless of who is President of the US though Romney would probably get us there faster.

For me, a Romney win is inconceivable. It would be like stealing a last-minute own goal winner in a game where you had zero shots on target. Throughout this election cycle, going back to when Romney won the nomination, the electoral map has said an Obama win. Even in the last election, which turned out to be an Electoral College landslide, McCain managed to get eke out a lead of twenty or so in the polls after the convention. Romney needs an awful lot to break his way to win but the Democrats NEVER learn. They let this piss-weak candidate, his nutjob running mate and the RNC hijack the agenda and denigrate their candidates and the work he's done.

Im sure I read somewhere that Romney family own the voting machines or have something to do with them. A family member is on the board of directors or something like that

Oh, fuck off. No surprise you find it difficult to finish a sentence, because you have clearly never finished a thought. If you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, but want to talk about it maybe use google first, or even at the very least phrase it as a question, maybe..? Instead of this lazy fucking brainfart shit that I have to try to decipher, and invariably turns out to be utterly without value when I finally do figure out what you're on about..

You turd.

I've not followed this election at all, so can someone briefly bullet point the reasons why Romney is shit and Obama is not? For what it's worth, I'm in the Obama camp purely because of his 'birth video'

As far as American Republicans go, Romney doesn't scare me hugely though I'd prefer Obama any day.

What does scare me is that if Romney won, this guy would be only a heart attack or a bullet to the head away from becoming the POTUS
