And use Bret's music. And put his shades on Logan at cageside before the fight. He should then attempt at least one sharpshooter during the fight. If he loses he must claim he was screwed, throw Bruce Buffer's microphone and the monitors about, spit in the face of Dana White and write Bellator in the air with his finger. A Nick Ring midget will then be paraded on the next UFC show with Dana uttering the immortal, and slightly dirty line, ''I didn't screw Ring....Ring screwed Ring'' Frankly, I'll be massively disappointed if this doesn't happen and will consider the whole event a failure. Thank fuck I streamed it otherwise I'd be a seriously angry man right now. Now I'm just tuning into the post-fight press conference hoping Dana rips the fighters a new one. Well, mostly Lombard. It started so well but the majority of the main card was shite, there's no getting away from that. I'm usually not a negative type of MMA fan at all. I usually enjoy every card pretty much but them three shitty fights all back to back killed the main card really. Faber vs Barao I didn't think this was nearly as bad as the crowd reaction suggested to be fair. I picked Barao on points and the way the fight played out was pretty much exactly what I expected going in. Very good performance from Barao. He did seem to slow down in the later rounds but he did a good job pacing himself and defo did more damage. Faber couldn't get fuck all going. Had it a 5-0 shutout for Barao. I don't really blame the crowd for getting frustrated after the way some of the fights went but I did think they were a bit too harsh on this fight. The bullshit chants and booing Barao after the fight were uncalled for. It wasn't the best fight but it wasn't bad either. Anyway, fuck that. Glad Barao won. Now onto the shit Lombard vs Boetsch I don't think many would have picked this to go the distance. And the fight was shockingly bad imo. Neither guy should be happy with this shite. They both did nowt. Lombard looked ok in round 1 I thought. I just put it down to him pacing himself and he looked pretty good to me in that round. Stuffed Boetsch's takedowns with ease and landed some good strikes. After that though...fuck sake. What were they doing? Such a letdown after all the waiting for Lombard's debut. Got to have been some UFC debut jitters there because that is not the Hector Lombard we all know. I didn't expect him to blow a tough guy like Boetsch away easily but Jesus Christ, he just stood about for most of round 2 and 3. Awful fight. Maybe they will go ahead with that Lombard vs Munoz fight after all now. Kongo vs Jordan Another crappy fight. Kongo's a weird one. Sometimes he seems up for it and other times he goes into this mode of just holding guys against the cage and trying to squeak out a decision. Jordan didn't look ready for the step up and Kongo didn't seem that arsed about the whole thing to me. Best part of this fight was when Kongo got elbowed in the bollocks and Rogan said "Somewhere, at home, Cro Cop is smiling" Revenge. Ebersole vs Head This wasn't in the league of the Lombard or Kongo fights but it was a very dull fight. The first round was alright, loved the old cartwheel kick. But again, rounds 2 and 3 were complete cack. Just Ebersole shooting for lazy as fuck takedowns, proper half hearted attempts and then staying there on his knees while Head just stuffed them and did nothing. Really disappointing. Ebersole took this fight straight after the Waldburger one, maybe he was overtrained or something because he didn't look his usual self to me. Shit. All three of them above fights. Back to the positives because I'm guessing the bad stuff will overshadow a lot of this; Riddle vs Clements This was great, such a fun PPV opener. You've gotta love Riddle, he's been in nothing but crowd pleasing fights for the last couple of years. These two brought it and that standing arm triangle finish was a fucking beauty. Well deserving of Sub Of The Night. Prelims were all exciting, which makes the turd on the main card all the more annoying. Caraway vs Gagnon was a fucking great fight, really entertaining fight. Gagnon looked like a little beast at times but he kinda ran out of gas and Caraway took over, nice sub too. I think Gagnon would benefit from a move to 125. McGee vs Ring was a decent scrappy fight. Not pretty but they both went for it and it heated up nicely as it went on. I had Court McGee winning it though, but the first round was close. I'd have to rewatch it but I thought McGee got a raw deal there. Nice to see Bret Hart come out with Ring. Kuivanen vs Clarke was a really good grappling match. Loved this. Clarke's wrestling looked excellent, and Kuivanen kept with him on the ground and managed to outwork him as the fight went on. Close fight. Really enjoyed this, one of the better grappling matches this year. I had this or the Caraway fight as FOTN. Rivera vs Delorme was a great one rounder. Francisco Rivera looked outstanding, the short right hook he ended it with was perfectly timed and placed. Rivera looked really good. Jimmo vs Perosh 7 seconds, what the fuck? Been watching Jimmo in the MFC for a bit now and was looking forward to his debut. When I saw him matched with Perosh I thought it would be a tough fight. And Jimmo sparked him in 7 seconds. As perfect a UFC debut as you could have. And over a solid, durable guy like Perosh. Crazy. Carvalho vs Pineda was another really nice KO. Pineda was turning heads in the UFC in his first few fights. Looked like a legit contender for a while and just went to a decision in a tremendous fight with Mike Brown. Carvalho putting him away in that fashion was very impressive. So yeah, some cracking prelims here and a pretty good main event. But the triple whammy of Lombard/Boetsch, Kongo/Jordan and Ebersole/Head fucking dragged the atmosphere of the show down and killed the crowd big time. When a reporter at the press conference asked him why he wanted that fight Dana jokingly said "I heard Riddle hates Brits" and Riddle started going off about some fan spitting on him on a UK UFC show. And used the phrase "some buttertooth Brit spat on me". Haha. I hope Hardy beats Sadollah and they make that fight. Infact no, I hope Amir pulls out and they put Riddle in. I only watched the PPV portion, but that was one of the worst UFC events I can recall watching. I liked the Riddle fight that opened the PPV and the main event was ok, but as a viewer that stretch where you had Ebersole/Head, Kongo/Jordan and Lombard/Boetsch all one after the other was soul destroying in the sheer scale of its awfulness. Faber looked like a bum because he got his leg fucked up and couldn't do anything, but Barao should've taken a bit of advantage knowing this. Dai Posted July 22, 2012 Share Posted July 22, 2012 Terrible show, and it always annoys me when a fighter is clearly losing a fight, and must know themselves they are losing the fight, yet never change their gameplan. Faber did this last night. He was the exact same in Round 5 as he was in Round 1. No last ditch attempts to win the fight, and he just carried on doing nothing, surely knowing he had lost the fight. A little slack to be cut there, i think. With Boetch breaking his foot, surely now we have an effective 'lucky losers' tournament in Lombard/Munoz and Stann/Bisping, who can fight one another and the winners fight after that, whilst Silva takes on the winner of Weidman/Belcher. I know rib inuries are difficult to work through, which explains why he didn't go for takedowns, but he should have at least tried something.
