CM Punk has the submission and striking role in WWE. Next to the likes Mark Henry, Bryan looks like a 6 year old boy. You couldnt book him like they did in Ring of Honor in WWE. Thats not how their TV works. Its the land of the giants. I know people like to bring up the Benoit comparison, but Benoit always looked unstable. Like someone you'd see in a nightclub and think "he looks a bit mental". He had the big Popeye forarms and the Kyle from Terminator expression on his face. It was perfect when Benoit used to tear through people. A prick heel is where Bryan's future lies for me. A grinning knobhead, who talks a big game, delivers class matches, but still cheats in the end. Like Guerrero was. Play him to his strenghts. Putting him in situations where it was would a mountain to climb to get over isnt doing that. Heels drive the car as they say. Him leading the matches as a heel is exactly where he needs to be. If you make Daniel Bryan a serious babyface, they might as well give him a robe and call him Bob Backlundson, as well.

This is easy: Turn him heel and get Michael Cole as his manager!

 

Obviously it makes absolutely no sense right now, but who gives a fuck, this would be absolutely golden.

 

I'd have Bryan gradually turn heel over a month or two. Meanwhile, have Michael Cole in a mini-feud with a random babyface (Lawler would be perfect for this, but nobody wants to see another Lawler/Cole feud, even if it is to kickstart a different storyline). Let's use John Morrison as our example here. The feud would only really need to last 3-4 weeks and would have Cole telling Morrison that he'll soon have his comeuppance for being a tool. Eventually, Morrison would lose a match after being distracted by Cole which causes him to drag Cole into the ring and tease hitting him, only for the comeuppance to arrive in the form of Daniel Bryan. Bryan would run through the crowd and beat the shit out of Morrison and buddy up with Cole, both with massive shit-eating grins on their faces.

 

The next week Bryan could explain how he finally understands that Cole was right all along, Bryan was a nerd and it was holding him down and, from now on, he'll listen to Cole's guidance. They'd have a massive bromance with Bryan constantly telling Cole that he's his best friend, hugging him, have a secret handshake etc. Imagine the crowd reaction whenever Bryan refers to Cole as his best friend (which he would do whenever mentioning him).

 

Fuck it, while they're at it, have them win the Tag Team Titles.

Up until Royal Rumble, D-Bry keeps losing. At the Rumble he finally pulls the thorn out of his side and defeats someone of merit. Perhaps Wade Barrett for sakes of me not really knowing who is on SmackDown at the minute. Commentary makes a big deal about how Bryan's "Road to Wrestlemania" has begun.The Undertaker defeats Mean Mark Henry in some Tombstone-y type fashion at the Royal Rumble. During this contest, Henry will have survived the Hell's Gate and broken it somehow. You can't submit Mark Henry...The winner of the Rumble chooses the WWE Title on Raw at 'Mania.In the subsequent weeks, Bryan exchanges words with a stoic Dead Man, who laughs him off. Mark Henry challenges D-Bry for the MitB Briefcase at Elimination Chamber, laying on a challenge to Taker, could WWE really be signposting a Henry vs Taker rematch at the biggest show of them all?Bryan vs Henry turns into a mugging after a strong start by D-Bry however (as others have suggested) Bryan catches Henry in the Guillotine/LeBell Lock and wins via tap out!!!Henry attacks someone and steals their spot in the chamber, only for said person to return and cost him the match, taking him onto his next thingy. Taker makes it through the Chamber with the belt. SmackDown comes and D-Bry boldly says he did what Taker could not and submitted Henry. Kane arrives and tells him he can't beat the Undertaker, no one can at Mania. In a match, Kane taps to D-Bry. In the next few weeks Big Show, Great Khali and others all fall to D-Bry. Each time he is becoming more and more aggressive and nastier with his comments towards the once dismissive Dead Man. After each victory, Taker appears at the top of the entrance and stares...In the final SmackDown before Wrestlemania, Shawn Michaels (~~~) confronts Daniel Bryan and tells him, as a friend or mentor, that he cannot win at the big one against the Dead Man. Daniel Bryan slaps a LeBell lock on HBK (:-O) HE IS NOW SUPER EVIL KILLER DEATH DANIEL BRYAN!!!In the main event of the show Raw challenger and Bryan face Raw Champion and Taker. It all ends in a big brawl DQ type deal however Bryan slaps the LeBell Lock on The Undertaker.... Undertaker taps... Pissy faced D-Bry stands over him with the belt and we are onto Mania....What happens at Mania is anybody's guess but it would something would...

I would continue his losing streak for now. He's growing his beard again and looking somewhat disheartened (On NXT and Superstars) Have the final straw be losing to Trent Baretta, causing Bryan to snap and have a mental breakdown, getting him suspended.

 

After some time off, run some vignettes where a now clean shaven Daniel Bryan explains how hard he trained only to drop the ball. Have him explain how tempted he was to give it all up after working so hard only to fail. But, he's made a decision to train even harder! Run flattering footage of his strenuous workouts and show us what it takes for him to maintain his amazing conditioning. And finally, have him vow to start a winning streak of redemption, avenging every loss he sustained. Starting with Trent Baretta, moving on up to the Sin Cara's, then winning the IC from Cody Rhodes, then beating Christian and then finally beating Wade Barrett and Sheamus for the first time.

Then have him return and indeed, win every match in hard fought battles. And I would have him go after Alberto Del Rio as champion. He hasn't beaten Del Rio yet, so it would be slaying the dragon while also accomplishing his dream.

 

 

I'm not so keen on him turning heel just yet. He can be a fantastic heel, but I want him to win the World title this way. If done right, it would get him popular with the fans first before getting them to turn on him.

I'd say move him to Raw. Align him with Punk. Have them win some tag matches against the top line guys while Punk goes back to being against Triple H. Triple H aligns with Del Rio to give him credibility. Have them continue to hold Punk & Danielson down. Build to Nash/Triple H in December with the faces needing to win or never get a title shot again. Heels win.Both men qualify for the Rumble with it being billed as a must win situation for Punk. Reminding fans Danielson could still cash in MITB but he seems reluctant to do so as if he fails he wastes his last shot.Punk wins the Rumble (possibly with Danielson as runner up) but Triple H says Punk isn't good enough to headline Mania so he gets his shot at EC and the 1 Chamber match originally booked to be a Smackdown number 1 contender match is now an interbrand number 1 contender match with 3 from each brand involved now the Raw title match at WM is up for grabs. This match is won by a Smackdown guy.Chamber comes and Punk beats Del Rio going on to Mania but after the match Danielson nails Punk with the briefcase and is about to cover him when he's distracted by HHH & Del Rio arguing over the loss. They start to brawl and all the officials rush out to break it up. By the time Danielson can seperate one of the refs to make the count Punk has recovered and Danielson slides out of the ring pointing to the Mania sign.The Raw title match wont have Cena in it because hes busy with Rock and Rock obviously wont win the title but that caters to casual fans.Use Triple H v Del Rio or the SD Title match as a marquee match for modern WWE fansUse Taker's match to appeal to the Old school fans.That means Raws title match could be used to appeal to the internet fans. Giving them a main event level match which would still appeal to WWE casuals through the build up with Triple H.

I'm looking this from a slightly different perspective.Way I see it, Bryan is losing on and off, mostly on Smackdown, he has won on Superstars. I'd focus on Mark Henry to start with, he's just resolved his dispute with whoever the week before, issues an open challenge with a 10 minute time limit for the main event of Smackdown. Nobody wants to take him up on the challenge and Henry is going to head to the back when Daniel Bryan comes out.Henry and Bryan go back and forth and just as the 10 min time limit is about to expire, Bryan has Henry in the Le Bell Lock about to tap out and its over but its a draw. Bryan celebrates only to get blindsided by Henry who then inducts him into the Hall of Pain. So Bryan would then be off television for several months.Henry continues his path of destruction into the Royal Rumble, defends his title, Bryans music hits but Bryan isnt there. Henry's reaction sells it though, he's nervous. Leading up to the Elimination Chamber, rumours speculate about where Daniel Bryan is and Henry is advised that Bryan will confront him at the ppv.So Henry calls out Bryan at the Chamber and Bryan advises him that he will cash in the MITB briefcase at Wrestlemania, Henry goes for the attack but Bryan thwarts it and tries to apply the Le Bell Lock but security runs down and pulls Bryan off Henry.In the lead up to Mania, Bryan defeats Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett,Sin Cara and Christian, all guys who Bryan has lost against in the past. Throw in a couple of promo vids on the week going into Mania, Bryan wins clean on Henry via tap out.
