So, I watched Monsters last night.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell I made of it so I'll come back later when I've mulled it over some more.

3/10 or 9/10.

Whitney Able is pretty, though.

More towards 9 for me. It wasn't what I thought it would be as I was expecting a more traditional monster flick, but I was pleasantly surprised and ended up really enjoying it.

Until I realised that they'd been got in the opening credits. That was a kick in the nuts.

Got copies of Seasons Six and Seven of The Office earlier this week and have just finished Season Six. Overall I enjoyed it, despite in 'Mafia', it featuring my least favourite episode ever. A couple of the characters have run their course and don't really offer anything to the show anymore (Meredith and especially Ryan, plus I wonder if whether BJ Novak wasn't a writer and producer whether the character would still be around as he offers so little). The Erin and Andy relationship doesn't work for me and Kevin's character just appears to be nothing more than a permanent moron. Liking what I've seen of Gabe, Kathy Bates' appearances and Daryl's promotion from the warehouse to the Office. Always enjoy the Toby and Michael scenes and Dwight is probably the MVP on the show at the moment.

I was wondering the other day just what Ryan's job is any more. He is still a temp? I'm up to date with the US pace and he still kinda lingers around playing the office hipster.

I really like Ryan, but he is severely underused compared to his days as the object of Michael's affection. I don't know if this is because of his writing duties being increased, but he is a frequent highlight when he does pop up.

Yea I should clarify, I still really like the odd line Ryan gets in just because he doesn't care any more and is a complete dick. Funniest thing he did recently that I remember was feign sadness that Stanley might die, he says something like 'Oh no Stanley, you'll live forever' with such a tone of apathy that I found it great. Also his exchanges with Pam where he antagonises her are great because I really don't like Pam any more.

And agreed on the Parks front. I don't like some of the characters but Leslie, Ben and most definitely Chris and Ron are terrific. April annoys me and Andy feels like a bad Jack Black impression but still it's a very enjoyable show. I like how they have slowly constructed this whole town's universe each season, it feels like a Sims game at times as you get to know more aspects of the town and it's people as they turn up every now and then. They also get some terrific guest stars, including the person who is set to play Leslie's opponent this season. I won't put it here to spoil the surprise for people who don't want to know.

I've decided I did really like Monsters and I'll give it 8/10. It is basically a romance with a few special effects but it worked for me.

I really liked Ryan as this ambitious, take no prisoners, corporate high flyer and then as part of 'The Michael Scott Paper Company' but I just don't get why he is still a temp at Dunder Miflin. To a degree I could understand Michael keeping him around, but from what you've said he is still just lingering around even now Michael has left. In fact his only major storyline these part two seasons has been WUPHF and a brief alliance with Dwight against Jim. Apart from that all he seems to do his hang around Kelly and pretend to do work in his 'office'.

Regarding that correlation between The Office and Park and Rec, I did read that it was attributed to both Greg Daniels and Michael Shure spending more time away from the former and onto the latter.

Yeah that alliance with Dwight was seemingly cut and never really went anywhere. I remember the ep where they shook hands and was really excited but then nothing. It is actually incredible how many changes he has undergone from the first season some have been very miss; I remember him wearing a fedora in The Lover ep which was just random.

I watched Limitless last night and really enjoyed it. I really like the idea of it although it should have had much more De Niro in it, and they missed one or two opportunities for cool plot devices. I really liked the visuals and bet they looked bloody brilliant in HD; they really compliment the manic nature of what is going on inside Cooper's head at times. It's not going to make a list of amazing films or anything like that, but it's an engaging, entertaining experience

I went to see The Darkest Hour the other day (purely as an excuse to go into a particular cinema), and aside from it being a really lightweight set up for a TV spin-off with no forseeable end, I had the most ridiculous sense of deja vu watching it. I can find no mention of it being a remake, but several scenes in particular I could have sworn I'd seen before.

If anyone's considering watching it, wait until it's on Syfy or Channel 5.
