Paid Members JNLister Posted January 3, 2009 Paid Members Posted January 3, 2009 I can live with being older than the England captain. I can just about cope with being older than the WWE champion. But fuck off am I meant to be older than Dr Who. Quote

Paid Members Psygnosis Posted January 3, 2009 Paid Members Posted January 3, 2009 You know I'm not looking forward to this, definately not a pick I'd have gone for. Quote
Ulf ist Gut Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Can't say i'm disappointed with the decision. I think i'm about the only person who watched and enjoyed Party Animals and he's got that mix of youthfulness and geekyness that i find works well in sci-fi. Quote
carolann Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 MEH... Thats about the extent of my response. He's been in 2 things with Billie Piper though (Ruby in the Smoke & Secret Diary of a Call Girl) Totally uninspired really (And the only reason Russell T Davies is jealous is because he likes casting guy candy) Quote
Adam619 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 matt smith the new dr who I was really pissed off when I saw a pic I was hoping it would be the other matt smith off itv football. Quote
Paid Members tom Posted January 3, 2009 Paid Members Posted January 3, 2009 It is quite funny seeing all the teenage girls saying they're never going to watch Doctor Who again because Tennant is leaving though. A bit of an anti-climax but I have faith that they've picked a suitable guy, and I'm going to wait and see him in action in it before judging. Quote
JamesTyler Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 (edited) It'll be hard to reserve proper judgment until we see him in the role, but initial reactions are a little underwhelming. First impressions are that he looks and sounds too young to credibly play the part - especially as his young naive companions will likely be a similar age, or older which will make the balance a little strange to watch. Especially after the show made reference to actors who could play both age and youth. I'll wait and see how it goes - not just with the stories/scripts and acting but costume makes a big difference - but having a Doctor not far off my own age seems a bit weird. LariatTom Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Doctor WHO?? I don't have a clue who the guy is, but I'm quite happy to wait and see what he's like when he takes up the role. My sister hates the decision though. Quote
Paid Members Up Chuck Posted January 3, 2009 Paid Members Posted January 3, 2009 On the run-down of the rumoured Doctors on the news beforehand, Matt Smith was the only one to whom my reaction was "Hm, that could work". I'm cautiously optimistic. Quote
