Anything more than 40p for a scallop is extortion.

Wow! Next you'll be telling us that Freddos are still 10p in your neck of the woods.

Actually in the posh South we call it "fish supper" but I called it "chippy tea" to avoid translation issues 🤓

As sad is it may be but I always sing thus tune (to my missus or in my head) everytime when I'm gonna go to chip shop for dinner

Compressed floor sweepings in an impenetrable skin.  It's a no from me.

That's all sausage to be fair. Unless you get the proper stuff from the butchers. Sod it, I'm going (oi oi) saveloy next time I pop to my local.

Grimsby chippy on Welford Rd used to make their own fishcakes.

Not been there for years! Great chippy from what I remember but Leicester's number one has to be Buck's Chippy. Always busy and understandably so.

Lots of love the battered sausage on here, i always knew i liked this place!

The battered sausage is indeed amazing.

I've noticed no one has plumped for a saveloy on here. What's the general concencus then? I enjoy one but it's not my first choice main from a chippy.

my other half is pressing for a healthy takeaway

What's considered as a healthy takeaway? I'm all for eating healthy but if you're getting a takeaway you've gotta go balls out and eat dirty.

  7. Ideal chippy tea is fish (ideally haddock), chips, curry sauce washed down with a can of Dandelion & Burdock (or a can of Rio if no D&B).

And Chinese chippies are an odd one. They're either fantastic or utter pish. Nothing really in the middle. There's one on Stoney Stanton Road in Coventry called Chippers which is balls. Popped in once for a bag of chips. The woman just got a bag of oven chips out of the freezer and chucked some in the fryer. Pish. But on the opposite scale there's one on Bolton Road in Darwen not far from Ewood that gives out the biggest portion ever. Last time I went I got a bag for £1.20 and it fed four of us. Proper good.

  10. Raymond deserves no praise nor love. It belongs in early morning purgatory along with King Of Queens. Mildly amusing comedy that beats the bullshit news programmes on at the same time. Frasier however deserves better than the slot its given but I can't grumble too much as it brightens up the day beautifully.

My team of Ex United/City players (And Scott Dann because Blackburn) has been entered.

I commend your loyalty to all things blue and white sir.

What an exciting start to the league season already. My boys Blackburn got a draw at Ipswich, Bolton have beat West Brom (great for my Super Six, Baggies will have a tough year this year), Sunderland actually win a game and Notts County have ruined a nice acca on the first day. Full steam ahead.

Chorizo is garbage and overpowers every dish it's in.

Yes! It's taken me ages to realise this but you're bang on. Chorizo is like my own personal Mandela Effect. Part of my brain thinks I like it even though I don't enjoy it when I eat it.

  13. Has anyone watched The Terror that was on BT recently? It's about a doomed voyage of two ships and their crew trying to navigate through the Northwest Passage. Pretty good show with some slightly dodgy special effects and great performances from Jared Harris and Adam Nagaitis.

I shared the house with three Somalian Muslims and I was drinking a lot at the time.

One time, the upstairs guy invited me to hang out in his room. One thing led to another and I accidently spilt beer on his prayer rug. Needless to say, he wasn't pleased.

This sounds like it could be from a comedy sitcom.

I'm quite lucky with my neighbours compared to some of the horror stories on here. We've got an old couple on one side who are a typically nosey but friendly pair. On the other a younger could who are renting who have a garden like Jurassic Park and are obsessed with birds. Last summer my cat jumped on the fence to try and catch a bird and the girl broke down. Like legitimately sobbing. Even though the bird got away. Me and the missus had to go back indoors so she didn't hear us laughing at her.
