If they couldn't, they should have just ended it after the Invasion PPV just for the buyrates of that event's sake.

They did finish it after the Invasion PPV. The actual Invasion storyline was finished after that. WCW were firming apart of the shows and they were lead by Austin, so there was no "Invasion". It was just another storyline as soon as Austin joined it. WWF then began the process of destorying WCW's wrestlers and burying the organisation.

It's incredible what they did to DDP. He went from being a top dog in WCW, to coming in and perving over Undertaker's wife, getting his head smashed in for a couple of months, and then coming back in doing a lower-mid card comedy gimmick. Rob Van Dam was the only real Alliance star (Austin was going down hill fast) that looked worthy of doing something big in the WWF in the long run.

As much as I did enjoy DDP in WCW, one of the main reasons he was pushed so much was because he was best buds with Bischoff. He was like Paul Telfer to Eric Bischoff's Gordon Strachan. And bear in mind that he was no spring chicken when he joined WWF either.

That means nothing. IF your have star power, you'd be stupid not to use that to draw money with one of the other big stars WWF had. Instead they buried him because he annoyed a few road agents and a few people thought he was over the top. Bischoff pushed him, but you can push anyone you want and it doesn't mean your going to become a star. Bischoff didnt give him his ability to work the crowd and ability to have great matches. Bischoff gave him the ball and DDP stuck it in the net.

I finally decided to sack off Halloween Havoc '93 after a 9999999999999 minute match between Steamboat and Orndorff, which had absolutely nothing at stake.

Decided to start from the very beginning - am halfway through Starrcade '83. It's quite fun, in a dated way - highlights so far include a Carlos Colon/Abdullah bloodbath, Harley Race dressed for the eighties (the 1880s, that is), and Gordon Solie completely forgetting the name of one of the competitors, literally four seconds into the broadcast. This is the commentator people raved about?

Could DDP have made a huge impact for years in WWF/WWE? He was quality in WCW, but for a man of his age at the time, a couple of years makes a big difference. I do agree that WWE did kind of drop the ball with DDP but they did with just about everything that they inherited from WCW at the time.

Just watched the April 10, 2000 edition of Nitro and its pretty bad. There's constant shoot comments that no one seems too understand, some pretty shocking matches (DDP/Sting is the best of a bad bunch) & lots of Flair/Hogan walking backstage. Im going to try and work my way through the rest of 2000, onto Thunder we go.

Currently watching Super J Cup 1995 and Smackdowns from 2002

That was an awesome period, especially at the tail end of that year. The blue brand had some good PPV matches too during that time, notably the tag match between Angle/Benoit and Edge/Mysterio which was all kinds of class.

Trying to find a copy of the WWE's Monday Night War DVD. There's a part up on YouTube that I watched yesterday but the rest have been removed.

Currently just over halfway through Survivor Series 2000. Its got a solid enough undercard, the highlight being the Radicalz generally being awesome and squashing K-Kwik, Road Dogg, Chyna and "The One" Billy Gunn. To go off on a tangent, what was up with Billy's "The One" gimmick? All that changed about him was he had a cheap gypsy earring and he stopped talking about asses. From the way the match went they seemed to be pushing him whereas the other three just get jobbed out hard.

Lita's match with Ivory was notable because she was busted open hardway and bled throughout the whole match. Credit to her for soldiering on, it looked proper nasty.

One thing that stunned me though was how good Rikishi vs The Rock was. The storyline was decidedly dodgy if I recall but these two assembled an absolute cracker and the crowd was going ballistic at the near falls. For 15 or so minutes I fully believed in main eventer Rikishi. Tremendous stuff.

What you see is what you get. There were getting heat from the PTC and tried to remove some of the overtly sexual stuff (e.g. out with The Godfather, in with the Goodfather, out with porn star Val Venis, in with boring no-gimmick Val Venis and then RTC Val) so they changed "just enough" of Mr Ass without really changing anything. Other than him not being called "Mr Ass."

Ironically I've just downloaded a couple of matches from said tournament.

Definitely trying to bulk up my collection of 90's Jnr's seen as not much of AJPW's Jnr division is available, and I've snapped up a lot of Michinoku Pro lately, so want to see how they fare in NJPW.

Just watched Fully Loaded 2000 over a few days and will write up more in coming days.

Lita n Hardys vs TnA and Trish - Great opener, little stringy in places but the play off on the womens feud really added to the match. Something that lacks in todays WWE. Even Lita attempt to pin Test got the crowf believing she had him beat. Crowd was hot for this

Taz vs Al Snow - DUD - nothing match ONLY because the crowd shit on it. Action wasn't bad though

APA vs Edge n Christian

Rikishi vs Venis (Cage) - what a dive from the top! Val has balls!

Taker vs Angle - DUD! Awful! Glad they turned out better matches years later

HHH vs Jericho

Benoit vs Rock
