Undefeated Steak
On the subject of scams, I'm pretty sure the local shop's selling counterfeit cigarettes. I bought two packets of Marlborough lights recently and the foil didn't tear out of either (I had to rip it out - never happened before, and it happened with both packs). The cigarettes smell very strong before you light them, almost like a cheaper brand would. I don't know if it's slight paranoia but I aren't smoking any of them. The shop itself is quite a large regional chain but I wouldn't put it past them selling knocked off goods.
Slapnut
I started a new job about 2 months ago and I haven't signed a contract, so it's essentially zero hour. Over a month ago I asked boss man for this Sunday off, he said it was ok. I reminded him a further two times and even last week he asked if I still needed it off. Today my rota has been posted and, of course, I'm working. When I asked him about it he said he couldn't find anybody else to do the shift. Â Am I within my right to not turn up if I warn him? I'm clueless with this sort of thing.

Undefeated Steak
Steak, is it a type of shop that could be a franchise? If so, stands a good chance you are smoking knock off fags i reckon  My question to anyone, is Amsterdam still worth going to? Yes, i am going for the "usual" things  Yes, it's definitely a franchise. Thanks.  I'm going to Amsterdam at the beginning of June for my other hobby (it's less cool than wrestling) so look forward to the answers.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted March 27, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 27, 2015 Last time I was in Amsterdam was in 2010 — as far as I am aware, whilst some places in Holland have changed their laws on fun since then (such as Maastricht), Amsterdam isn't one of them. It's very much fun. I've been a hilarious mess in Amsterdam in the past — I passed out on a pool table mid-pot (fnaar fnaar) there at a 21st birthday party, amongst other foolishness. King Coconut
Yeah, Amsterdam is the same as ever. No restrictions on any of the usual Amsterdammy things.
Sphinx
Went there last month and had a good time. Only issue was trying to cram everything into the weekend. Beware the taste of truffles. The nightclub Paradiso is cool to go to. Didn't like Sugar Factory much. Â Also, make sure you go to the right van Gogh museum if you're gonna go. King Coconut
The truffles really do taste rank but my god it's worth it.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted March 27, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 27, 2015 Also, make sure you go to the right van Gogh museum if you're gonna go. Â I want to hear more about this. There'd better be a nondescript looking door (or better yet, roller-shutter) down a back alley in the Red Light District with a tout outside waving a cardboard Van Goff Museum sign. King Coconut
And whatever you do, do NOT do the Heineken Experience. If you like Heineken, go to a pub. You'll have a much better and wildly cheaper 'experience'.
Sphinx
The other van Gogh museum had reviews from people on TripAdvisor on the wall as you go in. Ben from Manchester had a great time. I didn't. It looked a fairly big building, but in retrospect it was never going to be the real one. They were just prints of his work. Â The Happiness Project is good. Well worth going there. Â What do you actually do in the Heineken Experience? Â The taste of truffles was so much that I was sick. I had them on an empty stomach too, as you're supposed to. I never got properly high on them so I'd give it another bash.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted March 27, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 27, 2015 Do the Amstel experience instead — it's where you have your first pint in the airport at 7am (preferably East Midlands, but that's optional), and don't stop till aforementioned red-to-corner-pocket mishap. King Coconut
The Heineken Experience is a quick walk through a mock-up of the old brewery. You get two 'free' small Heinekens on the way through and then you're swiftly escorted into the one-way gift shop of no return. For that, they'll take €20 of your hard earneds. €20 that can easily be better invested in a city like Amsterdam.
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted March 27, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 27, 2015 Wow, that really does sound dreadful. IIRC, they do love their in-line gift stores on the continent.
Paid Members WWFChilli Posted March 31, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted March 31, 2015 Anyone who knows the internet and shit, please explain. Â Right, anyone who can solve this puzzle, please do. My sister just got a dongle with EE. 15GB a month, lady at the shop said that would be enough to watch videos and stuff etc. She's watched a bit of a video on Netflix and it's used up 4GB, the data showing she's downloaded the whole file (streaming site). I'm confused, she's confused, can anyone help?
