Keith Houchen
I'm with Ebb on this to be honest. But then, PPVs for me involve mates coming round, usually for the main event, and the cost is split.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 20, 2013 Author Paid Members Share Posted November 20, 2013 yeh get a few mates round and it'll literally cost you the price of a pint, job done.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted November 20, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 20, 2013 Yeah, I usually split PPVs with some mates and my brother so it usually only works out at a few quid each. Can't complain at that. If I was watching on my own though I'd most likely just stream it.  Few boxing documentaries, old and new to check out if you haven't already;  The Good Son: The Life Of Ray Mancini http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=eR2wiPWipHs  ESPN 30 For 30: No Mas - Leonard vs Duran 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=Z-BlK3B4Ykc  Legendary Nights: Gatti vs Ward http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=UViOdXG7eGc  The Fight Of Their Lives: Benn vs McClellan http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=UYCFR1KrD6g  BBC Sports Life Stories: Barry McGuigan http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=7fndx5Ks350  Ali vs Frazier 1: One Nation Divisible http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=Ae4Pt082nSw  Chuck Wepner: The Real Rocky http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=n1VRaGACWRA  Boxing and The Mafia; http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=YYjg2p7k7Y0  Johnny Owen: The Long Journey http://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&a...p;v=Kz5Ixg_iDng  Some good shit here. I haven't seen the new Mancini and No Mas docs yet so I'm looking forward to watching them. I've seen all the rest bar the Boxing and The Mafia one.  I just watched the Johnny Owen one now. It's a story I wasn't really familiar with at all aside from reading briefly about it somewhere. Owen was a young Welsh boxer who died as a result of injuries sustained in a fight against Lupe Pintor in 1980. He was knocked out and never regained consciousness. It's a hard documentary to watch at times. You see the punch that effectively killed Owen and it's harrowing to see how he just crumples to the mat. The doc is focused around Pintor finally meeting Owen's family years later. It's kind of a nice ending, well as nice as it can be given the circumstances. But it's a gripping documentary.  The rest is all pretty much must-see stuff IMO. I'd add Assault In The Ring on the Luis Resto/Billy Collins fight as well but it seems to have disappeared off YouTube.  Anyone know where I can find the new Johnny Tapia documentary to watch? Or isn't it out yet?
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 20, 2013 Author Paid Members Share Posted November 20, 2013 some good links there wand. I only live around 10 miles from where Johnny Owen lived in Merthyr Tydfil, they have a statue in the town of him (i think they show it getting unveiled in the documentary). Merthyr's a proper old school boxing town, there's 3 statue's in the town of boxers. Mike Tyson visited the sites to pay tribute when he was over a few years back. Â The castle in Merthyr has a little boxing memorabilia section in their museum too, i quite shamefully have never been over to have a look though

Paid Members Bettencourt Posted November 21, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2013 that sucks man  Yeah indeed. Hope I can get something. The same night it's Burns fighting, so will look to go to that instead I think. Was Eddie Hearn promoting the Haye/Fury fight also?  But that being said, can't wait for Saturday's fight. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted November 21, 2013 Author Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2013 there's talk of a potential Fury/Wilder fight on the night, seems a long way off at the moment though.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted November 21, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2013 If Fury's retirement does stick (highly doubt it), fuck it, let's see him make the jump to the UFC and get that Cain Velasquez fight on  Failing that, Fury vs Wilder would be fun. d-d-d-dAz
This press conference is shite. Just awful, awful bickering. Â George Groves is acting like a passive aggressive dick, like the scared, weedy guys you get on the Jeremy Kyle show. He needs to learn how to do a press conference. Froch was wheeling out the bums-in-seats classics like 'annihilate', 'destroy', 'flatten' and the trusty 'I'll teach him some respect'. Groves was wittering about whether Froch got investigated by the board over some comments he made last time. Â Lame. Â *edit* trash talk is rubbish with English accents. Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted November 21, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 21, 2013 It really was "My dad is harder than your dad" stuff. I know it is designed to try and attract those last minute ppv buys, but seriously, if you were undecided about buying the fight that would not compel you to get your money out of your pocket. Gooner
Cheers for the links wandshogun. There's a few there I haven't seen before so I'll check out. Anyone know where I can get the Tapia documentary, had a look online and can't find anywhere to buy. Watched the Mike Tyson Undisputed Truth last night, it was good and well worth a watch. Got his new book too, only been through a few pages but I am enjoying. Â Looking forward to boxing on Sat, I feel for Rios I think Pacman is gonna destroy him. jimufctna24
Looking forward to boxing on Sat, I feel for Rios I think Pacman is gonna destroy him. Agreed, I think Pac will look good, and set up a rematch with Bradley. Â Sorry guys, I enjoyed the Groves vs Froch press conference, maybe because I am going, but the hype is really hitting me. Plus, I am not 100% sure who he is going to win, I think Groves has a chance.
